Darvin Furniture Reviews

  • Apr 6, 2015

We bought furniture based on a particular look for our home. Our purchase also declared that we had clear expectations, like any customer, that deliver of said product would not sink after sitting on the settees one time . What was delivered was not the quality Darvin promised.

1. Our sales person Fernando talked about how great these pieces were. Darvin did not have any samples to show us. However, Fernando assured us this furniture was well made, sturdy, long lasting and top quality.

2. My sisters came over for a visit after the sofa was delivered. They sat on the sofa all at 125-135 pounds. Deep craters were noticed in both settees. This initiated several calls to Darvin furniture.

3. Entry 2/02/15: We called and spoke with a manager, who said, allow them the opportunity to have an inspector to come out before we could return it. We agreed to proceed as mentioned.

4. We spoke with multiple managers. We were told we would receive a refund. However, Darvin needed to send someone out first. This was necessary to document why the store would issue the refund and this was purely for paperwork. Later, Darvin said they would issue a refund for store credit only. After we said we did not want a store credit that is when a manager called and said they will not issue a refund at all.

5. The Darvin representatives we spoke to were--Maggie, Colleen, Ethel, and John. They did not give their last names. Maggie initially said we would be refunded for the settees after the inspection.

6. When the person came for inspection, he kept talking about how nice the furniture looked and why we did not want to keep it. I agreed that the furniture is nice looking but it is damaged and you can see where it is damaged. Without showing him, the technician immediately went to the damaged areas and said, "Oh I see" the damages. But he said they weren't that bad then suggested we keep the furniture because it was a nice looking room. I was outraged and called Darvin immediately to report this person and what happened. Again, I was told they would refund me as soon as they completed their paper work. This technician tried to get me to sign that the furniture was not damaged. I wrote on his copy the furniture was damaged.

7. Entry Logs 1-4. First delivery date was missed. They were not going to show up for the second delivery date until I had a talk with the manager.

8. We asked about floor samples BEFORE we purchased the settees. Our salesperson Fernando, said there were no samples on the floor. But, he assured us of their high quality and durability. We find it interesting that they report they had six on the floor upon review.

9. Again, we both love the pieces but they are damaged! We saw the items online but never saw them in person. That is why we specifically asked to see and sit on the same brand before we purchased them. Fernando told us they didn't have any on the floor to show us. Then, he assured us of the settees comfort and quality. We did not change our mind as the manager Janet Sweno suggests. Any reasonable customer, who expects one thing and gets another, would feel taken advantage of.

10 Darvin has a history of selling damaged furniture. The have a list of complaints on BBB, google review and RIP OFF with similar issues like our complaint.

They use to have a great record for quality and customer service. Those days are long gone!!!
