Here's what I've sent the local news media: Hi, my name is John. My family has ran business here in the city of Houston since 1957. We are well respected members of the community. I have discovered something I think everyone should be aware of here in Houston. There is a company who is selling scams door to door. I found out when they called me for an interview. They told me I could run my own business, that I needed no experience and that it would take 6-10 months. So what happened? I left my current job for an interview with the people at Dawson Marketing Concepts, that didn't bother me since I work for myself and I needed some extra holiday money. What did I find out? They have infiltrated our good city. They have been here 3 years they said. The parent company "Smart Circle" has been around 34 years, constantly changing its name, home to 19000+ and government rulings across the globe. If you simply Google smart circle scam, you will get a plethora of consumer complaints from these folks. So what do they do? It's really a sick pyramid scheme. These guys invite you into a room where you talk to someone a few years younger than yourself and tell you how they make tons of money and your one of 300 people they are looking for. They make you work 120 hours a week, 6 days a week with cult like unpaid meetings, force you to sell off commission scam tickets door to door (the one they had me selling was houston a very own museum of natural science) I found this out when I actually tried to use what they had sold customers that it was not even valid. So these kids obviously look professional suit, tie, etc. none of them are actually from Houston. Yesterday when I actually refused to sell any and came back from 7am-8pm shift - they told me it was my fault I wasn't selling anything and I needed to change something about myself. Pretty ridiculous if your talking to a psych major. What they do is brainwash their employees with preaching positivity in the morning. Making you learn sales techniques they call theory's. I found out I had enough when they were trying to recruit one of our very own Houston kids that just got her bachelors in business. I couldn't sit back any longer and let them scam another young face with their whole life ahead of them. Please Emily if you research the company smart circle, they have set up shop here. They target anyone employed at local business even kids at subway for their scam gift cards. They use geographical targeting they say. Their work environment is highly sexist/racist. Even though I am white, my first two days I heard about 50 racial slurs from the "young" management and it really bothered me. As a business owner. Someone rated a+ with the better business I can't help but expose some pyramid scheme scam artist who have actually infiltrated our city taking our hard working citizens money before Christmas. It just sickens me completely. If you need any more information please call me at blank or email me at - I'm not a disgruntled employee I left on my own free will, they have no idea I even quit, and I simply just walked out. But I have vowed to personally rid our city of these scam artist and their fear tactics they use to manipulate Houston business owners and employees!
