DerksenPortableBuildings and C & S Sales are dirty, filthy, nasty crooks. They set out to swindle you out of your money, as well as peaceful and quiet enjoyment. I was a Derksen dealer from October of 2012. I had 5 lot locations. In 2013 Jeff Chandler conspired with my landlord of my Corsicana sales center, and they stole all of the buildings, computers, chairs, desks, and blamed it on my landlord. At this point in time I should have gone with my gut feeling and got away from these crooks. However, I continued to operate the remaining 4 sales centers to my own detriment.

Derksen portable buildings has extreme unethical business practices. They lie to their customers about delivery dates. Their delivery drivers are Lawrence Chandler, and Paul Hershberger. Lawrence Chandler is Jeff Chandler’s brother, and Jeff Chandler is Mike Gourley’s son in law. Mike Gourley is the area sales manager for Derksen Portable Buildings. We found out through numerous customers, and potential repeat customers, that they were told by Lawrence Chandler, the delivery driver, to bypass my sales locations and buy directly from his brother, Jeff Chandler’s factory and to purchase directly from him. This practice is inconceivable due to the fact that I have spent tens of thousands of dollars manning my sales center, paying electricity, advertising, leasing, and landscape upkeeping, to sell their buildings.

DerksenPortableBuilding’s customer service is deplorable. Lawrence Chandler and Paul Hershberger damaged most of the buildings that they delivered. Mike Gourley and Jeff Chandler have told my customers that they would repair the buildings, and they failed to do so. After extensive research I learned that Lawrence Chandler, Jeff Chandler’s brother, has been forging the customer survey sheets(referred to as “happy sheets”). Hundred of customers have been unsatisfied, and are still unsatisfied, by Derksen’s lack of customer service. My customers have come to me, numerous times, with their complaints, because they could get no resolve of their complaints about Derksen’s shoddy workmanship, as well as damaged building.

Also, Joan Chandler, who is Jeff Chandler and Lawrence Chandler’s sister, is the office manager at Jeff Chandler’s plant, and she continually lies to customers about when their building will be complete and delivered. This is a prime example of nepotism at its worst.

Derksen portable buildings also offers their customers an alleged 5 year warranty, in which to this day, hundreds of customers’ buildings have not been repaired, nor has their shoddy workmanship been corrected. They inform their dealers that their 5 year warranty is transferable to the new owner during this time period if the building is sold to another individual. I recently learned, as early as today, that they are lying to their customers and they are telling them that their warranty is not transferable. However, the case I am referring to here was just another building damaged by Lawrence Chandler, when it was delivered to its original owner. Both Jeff Chandler and Mike Gourley assured me as the dealer, as well as the customer, that the damage would be repaired. As of over a year the damaged building from the original delivery, has never been fixed, as well as hundreds of other incidents that I am aware of.

It must also be brought to the public’s attention, that the construction of Derksen portable buildings, on the treated wood buildings, the floor joists are supposedly made from treated lumber. Upon closer inspection of the sub floors of the buildings, they are made of regular wood. This is just another clear example of their deceptive trade practices.

From my own personal experience, I had numerous buildings on my lots that had shoddy workmanship, and were in the desperate need of repairs. I emailed, and faxed over to the director of quality assurance department of Derksen, too many times to count, numerous repair orders for customers, as the influx of calls poured in about shoddy workmanship, and still to this day I have received no response.

I also purchased a Derksen building, and was extorted, at a 40% interest rate, which they call a “rental rate”. Through extensive research, it has all the elements of a loan, and I am investigating with the Attorney General’s Office as to whether the usury law is being violated. It is clear to me that I was being charged a 40% interest rate. Just because you call a dog a cat, doesn’t turn the dog into a cat. It is evidently clear to me, that just because they call it a rental rate, it doesn’t negate the fact that it is an interest rate.

Jeff Chandler, Mike Gourley, and Scott Berryman(President of Derksen) have been making derogatory and untruthful statements about me and my companies, to my customers, as well as to my potential distributors. You may contact me 24/7 if you need any further information about this corrupt organization, and their unethical business practices.

ATTENTION DEALERs

It must be brought to your attention that the industry norm for selling portable buildings is a 10% commission. I was informed from one of my very concerned customers, that Derksen Portable Buildings has its own website for the state of Texas, for every city and county, and diverted all sales traffic to Jeff Chandler’s phone number. Jeff Chandler and Mike Gourley, as they were confronted by me and some of my sales staff, about the website, their justification was that Jeff was paying for it, when in fact, Jeff Chandler is withholding 2% of your hard earned money to divert and steal your sales from your sales centers.

Another Poorly Made Derksen Building

A few weeks ago we purchased our second Derksen building, this one a metal one. The Derksen dealer in Alpine Texas is great. I can't sing Julie Stovell's praises enough, however she can't fix how the building was made. We had the building on our property for three weeks when we had some wind come through. The gusts were 36 mph and the wind only lasted two hours. When we went out to our property the building was gone, however the platform was exactly where it was placed by the delivery driver. The building blew to pieces. We started with our dealer who contacted her boss, so on and so forth. In the end they told us that they would split the cost of the building with us, $800 for a pile of scrap I don't think so. Needless to say the conversation became heated and they told us to pay the entire $1600 or they would sue. What I am trying to understand here is why they aren't standing behind their 5 year workmanship warranty. The building was held together by 8 nails on each side. That's a definitely a workmanship issue. I am writing this in hopes that someone will read this and learn that Derksen does not stand behind their work and that it's not worth it to lose $1600.00.
