I purchased online both anti-aging products Dermallure and Skin Essentials in May 2014. As already reported by others on this website, I was lured by the supposed $4.95 trial price for each. It was not all clear that I would be charged about $100 additional for each of these unless I acted almost immediately and returned both products. There were two charges for $4.95 dated May 8, 2014 on my credit card statement received about mid-June. So I assumed that I was charged according to what I understood. Then on my credit card received on July 12, 2014 there were two more charges dated June 7, 2014 For $99.96 and $94.93. Such strange oddball amounts which I surmise is so the credit card companies don't kick the charges out as fraudulent.

I called them on July 12, 2014 only to be told that what they charged was what I had agreed to when ordering the products and that they would not refund any of my money. I sure do believe that disclosure was so hidden, no reasonable person would have seen it. And there is no way that I or most other potential customers would have signed up for such a ripoff.

And I also received another shipment of both products on July 12, 2014 which I am returning. After a lot of time of time on the phone with the company representative trying to talk me out of returning it, he finally gave me an RMA #(Return Merchandise Authorization) for each of the returns which I have to pay for shipping. He also made a real point of letting me know that it would take a long time for the credits to be posted to my credit card (at least 30-60 days). I will be at UPS first thing on Monday, July 14 to ship that back.

The products are okay but in no way worth that kind of outrageous price. I have purchased lots of things online from many different companies over many years and have NEVER experienced anything close to this kind of ripoff. Most well known and lesser known companies operate with full disclosure and upfront policies because they want repeat business and referrals by satisfied customers. I do not know if this company is operating outside the law or if they are merely skirting its edges. Either way their business model is not sustainable for the long term.

Skin essentials SCAM

Same thing happened to me...when I tried to cancel, they kept discounting the order.... Unbelievable scam. The cream came with a label that looked like it had been printed from a home computer... The ingredients that were advertised were not the same as the ingredients as on the back of the bottled.. SCAM

unbelievable scam!!!

I ordered the products looking forward to the 30 day trial period. After two weeks I had not received the products, I did however receive an email from the company stating that my trial period was up and that they would be charging me $194.00 for the products. I called the company to let them know that I had not been able to try the product because I had not even received the product! the woman's response was "that's not my problem" I Then told them to cancel my order because I did not want to do business with their company and she said that I would still be charged the $194.00 for refusing delivery. I called my bank and they took care of it but had to change my debit card number so they couldn't try to charge me at a later date.

Package covered with ants

THE INSIDE OF MY PACKAGE WAS COVERED WITH ANTS and,as the others have already stated, this is NOT a trial sample but an attempt to enroll you in a monthly subscription. There was no return address on the package and it took a good while to find a number and another 15-20 minutes to get a person on the phone. The rep was snippy and very uncooperative until I got rude with her and told her about the ants. To return an item, you must have a RMA number issued by customer service. Once I finally got the return address and RMA number, she told me to get a tracking number from the post office and CALL THEM BACK to give them the tracking number before I mailed it or they couldn't guarantee I'd get a full refund!

I have no intention of calling them back but I will get the tracking number and I have also contacted my credit card company to block any future charges. This whole experience was terrible and I wish I had researched the situation before I ever ordered from this company.

agreed - total scam

i checked before committing to the trial by

a) trying the number to call to cancel the trial and

b) also sent an email to their customer service to see what answer i would get.

there was no answer to the customer service line and the email address bounced back, not a valid email.

DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR CREDIT CARD INFO - it's a scam

I'm writing this to warn others about a company called Skin Essentials and Dermallure. They are an online business that advertises frequently through third parties.

Their risk free trials are misleading: They lead you to think that you're trying a free trial of their product by paying only for shipping. Warning: By purchasing a trial you are subscribing to a monthly shipment of their products costing near $200 every month.

When I made my purchase I quickly realized that this was not simply a trial and called 5 minutes after I made my purchase to cancel. The customer service representative told me that I was unable to cancel my order and had to wait until my shipment arrived. Only then I could ship the items back within the trial time limit and at my own expense to cancel my subscription.

I knew this wasn't true, a company can't deny you a cancellation, especially not 5 minutes after purchase, so I hung up and sent a cancellation by email. Only then my order was canceled.

A week after canceling, I was horrified to find that they still sent me a bottle of Dermallure. I sent them another email to state that I've already canceled my orders and that I would not accept this bottle as my liability and that I did not want anything to do with their company or products. They never replied. I cancelled my card in case they tried to do anything unauthorized and use that bottle they sent me as an excuse for any charges on my card.

My point is this: an honest business will tell you exactly what you're getting and how much you're paying for that product. A real business wants you to voluntarily return to them to get what you want. Skin Essentials and Dermallure do not tell you how much you're really paying and what you're paying for until you read the fine print. They are misleading and get money out of you through a subscription that they don't mention anything about except in the fine print. A honest business doesn't trap you with fine print.

Ordered Dermallure sample on 6/13/2014. Received a small sample which did not even last 10 days and did not accomplish the results Dermallure claimed it would. The sample was supposed to cost $4.95, an amount which was charged to my account. It was not clear on the web site that my credit card will be charged on a regular basis. When I looked at my cc statement, I realized that Dermallure had also charged $99.96 on 6-28-2014. The credit card statement has a telephone number for Dermallure as 866-216-1955. When I called the number it was a locksmith. I tried locating the tel number on the internet and I am not able to locate any.

I experienced what the other ripoff report writers did as well. I should have know when I received the "samples", which were full size, that something was up. When I called to inquire, I was told about the 14-day trial period and then the subsequent charges. I never saw any of this in the advertisment for the trial.

I asked when the 14-day trial period begins, and I was told from their shipment date and not the date I received. They gave me an extra week for the trial (since I challenged this) but I was not impressed with the product enough to make it a regular purchase. And, it is worth noting, that the Dermallure, which is in a pump bottle, does not contain enough product for the trial period if you apply it two times a day, as the directions instruct.

Very misleading advertising, and very pushy customer service people when you try to cancel. Beware!

Dermallure aka Vita cream

I ordered it as well...item ok but keep in mind that there is very small writing just under the description that gives 15 days to call and cancel so they can not charge your card. Its so small you could hardly acknowledge it. Fortunately I saw it and cancelled right away, but they display it that so you Don't see it there by getting all that money off your card without refunding. My suggestion ladies is if your are going to do any free trials always look at that fine small print because that's exactly where the disclosure is!!!

Scam Sites

I did not order simply because of the website. This looks like the same website with two other products that claimed to have snake venim in them to get rid of wrinkles, and make your skin look good. Never order products online at 2am after several glasses of wine. I thought $5 bucks why not? Well, you should not. After receiving the products, which smelled like Avon products, I immediately sent it back, and the trouble began. They refused to take the charges off my CC, and my CC Co. was on their side. I cancelled the card by writing a letter to Citi Corp, and I received a call asking me to please not cancel, and they would remove the charges from this company. Never again will I order anything like this from sites that look like this. I've made many online orders where the information is up front, and never had problems if I decided to return the product. I've become a more educated online buyer.

Demalure and Skin Essentials

I have noticed in just the last week that there are two other companies whose shtick is using two products to achieve amazing wrinkle results. Each ad uses the same models and the same identical verbiage. How can EACH offer be the "be all end all" for women with wrinkles? This is obviously a scam promoted by the same business entity and you don't have to buy it to realize that. Stay away!

I ordered two products from Dermallure; 1.Skin Essentials and 2. Dermallure. It is advertised as the "housewife discovers beauty secret", by combining two skin products which reduce wrinkles. It is also advertised as a 30 day free trial. The rub is...if you do not return it within the 30 day free trial you will get charged the full price for the two products which total $174.89. Therefore you can't really use the cream for 30 days if you are not going to keep it since it has to be returned during the 30 day trial. After the 30 days are up you do not receive a penny of your money back. It also does not count if you contact the company with any questions during the 30 day trial.

I sent two e-mails asking about the cost of the product IF I were to keep it. I wanted to know this information so I could make an informed decision about using the product (i.e. if I could afford it) over the long term. The answer that I received continued to tell me about the product and that it had been shipped which did not make sense since I asked about the cost and not about shipping.

The product itself is OK. It did not get rid of any of my wrinkles but it might on someone else. I just wanted people to know the "rest of the story" so they do not get taken like I did.

Total Scam, Fraudulent, Unethical,

I wish I had read all of these reviews before orders these products. The add, states you get these sample products for the cost of a highly inflated shipping rate...........not true. Before you can even begin to see how the product works, they are charging your credit card for $190, for the product......not to mention, before it was even shipped they charged for the shipping fees. Do not order these products, this company is not the least bit truthful about what you are paying, will be paying, and how this entire order process works. I have never in my life known of a company so unethical and criminal. Hopefully, no one else will be ripped off of $190 for a product that may or may not be any good. Who knows, you don't have any time to try it before the second rip off is initiated and charged to you C/C. These people should be arrested and charged with theft...

SCAM SCAM SCAM

I, too, ordered free trial. NOWHERE does it say to scroll down to the bottom to read terms and conditions to see that you will be charged recurring charges for subscription. Thank you all for posting...within ten minutes of ordering free trial, I called and cancelled. It was refunded on my CC; just checked with my bank. Check before buying!!! Had horrible experience with "Justin" from their customer service...unprofessional, rude, sarcastic. Was extremely shocked to see that they had already refunded/cancelled my order. But I will be forced to check my CC daily to make sure there are no future charges; then will dispute and cancel my card. My bank is awesome and told me I will not be liable if this happens.

SCAM

TOTALLY AGREE WITH EVERYONE! THEY ARE SCAM ARTISTS! DO NOT PURCHASE THEIR PRODUCTS! THEY HIDE THE FINE PRINT THAT NO ONE CAN FIND IT AND I EVEN LOOKED BECAUSE THE OFFER SEEMED TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE! I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN BETTER! HOW CAN THEY GET AWAY WITH THIS!?!?!?!?

  • May 8, 2017

DO NOT ORDER SCAM

this company is not real they will charge you the full amount, claim they have no boss, corporate office and cannot give out the information for security reason. Beware

  • Nov 28, 2016

should have known better

I agree with every post with the exception of knowing wether or not the product works. I did not have sufficient time to test it. Received the product and within a week there was a $94.96 charge from the company on my account! So we'll see how the refund process goes-no money within 30 days from today I'll be pursuing fraud charges.

I usually use a prepaid card for online orders but did not this time. That will teach me. I'm not letting this slide.

unbelievable!

an they have the nerve to argue even!

Not easy to get my money back!

I am working with C.Card Bank of America try to dispute the charged / get my money back, as their email address and phone numbers are not the working one. At the mean time, Dermallure and Imperialskin keeps debit to my Bank account while the dispute is processing.
