Desert Skies Mini's Reviews

I put an ad out wanting a stud dog. Darlene LaDriere of Desert Skies Mini’s answered the ad. We bred our dogs together twice. On the third time I showed up and she had up the price to $500, $100 more because she said she was getting him American Stock Dog registered and my pups would be worth more. I was there with my dog and did not have another stud dog lined up, so I said O.K. I got my dog ASDR and emailed her to see if she got her ASDR papers. She said sorry we can not get them on Rooney. I was upset but again I did not know what to do?

As my dogs due date approached, she did not gain weight and did not look pregnant. Darlene made excuses and said my dog was pregnant. The date arrived and no pups. I called Darlene and told her no puppies, she could come over and look in my house and I could bring my dog to her and I wanted my money back. She text me saying the stud dog belonged to her son and Rooney did his job, I would not get my money back. He MIGHT give me another breeding.

I talked to two vets. They said sometimes that happens, breeders should breed until there are pups, so try it again but asked for a different male. That is the only male Desert Skies Mini’s have and that is the only female I have. That male has only bred my dog and one other female because he is related to all their other females.

When my dog came into heat I called and said I need to bring over on Wednesday to be breed. It took her three days to even return my call. The first day I was to early my dog would not let him breed. Then two days later, he would hump her twice then jump off. Final they tied up, but it was only for 3 minutes. I said something is wrong they should stay tied up for about 15 minutes. She said it was because my dog was loose and had had puppies. I said no it does not work that way, look it up in the internet. I took my dog to her house every night for a week. He would hump her twice and jump off. They had every excuse in the world, why their dog would not breed, Some of my favorite are “He had breed a dog on in that back yard a month ago” and “My dog was not in heat,” not only did I keep a calendar, but two other dogs showed up at my house. The last day the son said “well next time we will do this right”. That made my furious; they wasted a year of my dog’s life and still not going to give my money back. I was told her son has his law degree and about medical problems they are having, “his wife has cancer but don’t say anything to her about it because she has not told very many people” but I’m retired and money is tight for me also. I even asked for a puppy from her dog, a vet suggested that, she never even answered my email.

Both dogs are 4 years old. The male is registered AKC,

I would like my money back but I don’t think that is going to happen, it was just a verbal contact. Is there any way you can help me?

I talked to several vets, they say either his sperm count is real low or my dog is not ovulating. I’m not going to breed my dog to him again, we would never know which dog is messed up. However, how do I keep her from doing this again to someone else? The first time she did not have puppies I was distressed so bad, it was terrible. The second time I had an ultrasound done so I knew what to expect, but I still hoped it was wrong. The vet said I could not do anything until after her due date. Something that makes it worse, my dog sleeps with me. On the last day the dogs were together, my dog got flees and gave them to me.

In a perfect world all breeders would be good, honest and fair people but we do not live in a perfect world.
