DeviantART Reviews

Commissioned "Jencity" on deviantART for a writing commission via an ad she had supplied on the Job services board. Jencity claimed that the piece would only take two weeks at most to complete. It was a $100 dollar job with two installments of $50.

Work supposedly began on March 19th when first installment for payment to begin work started. She would only respond to messages weekly, then claimed it was finished approximately April 12th. Requested half of other payment for delivery of written piece. Sent payment the same day.

Did not receive any messages from Jencity for a week. I had messaged her a few times asking where the piece was, and specified at least two e-mail addresses to send it to. A week later she apologizes that she was "hardcore afk" and will mail it to me the next night after she got home from work.

This time too went by. I repeatedly messaged her, and on April 30th received a "mass message" that she was in the hospital, that she doesn't know when she'll be back to a computer. I waited it out, but noticed that she was logging into her deviantART account every couple days via the "Recent Activity" feature. She also started to post to her personal Twitter account more often.

Two weeks later from April 30th I judged was an average time someone might be in the hospital so I messaged her again. No answer. I then began to see posts on her Twitter feed for the rest of her month about going to McDonalds, going on a roadtrip near Memorial Weekend and asking if she should drink more when she parties. This didn't sound like the behavior of a hospital patient.

Jencity no longer responded to messages since telling me she was in the hospital. So much time had gone my with no results whatsoever that I was fed up and felt that she was lying or pulling a scam. I was able to catch the second payment with Paypal and file a dispute to which she gave no response to whatsoever and I recovered the second $50 back. The first installment was too long back for Paypal to recover, so I fild a report with the bank as advised by them, hinting the possibility that they may be able to recover the first amount.

About a week after Paypal settled the first dispute, Jencity logs onto deviantART and posts a public journal that she was in the hospital "for over a month". Along with some other updates of her life, she gives a shout-out about "some of you who've filed Paypal disputes with me. That's fine and I understand, but don't insult my work ethic. That's f****** petty." She then proceeds to regularly post about her comic "Black Gold".

Not one attempt was made to ever contact me directly about this issue despite repeatedly trying to contact her. She does not answer messages and pretends that you're not there, and will openly lie to you. Do not commission or work with this person.
