DH Cameras Reviews

  • Oct 9, 2014

In February of 2014 I was searching eBay for a replacement lens for my Canon G11 camera. I ran across RongStar that adverstised a brand new lens for a total of $85 including USPS Priority shipping. I paid and and received the lens in a timely manner. After I spent over an hour installing the lens I got 'lens error' display on the camera. The lens would extend and that's when I discovered the lens was used, scratched and obviously defective.

I took photos of the 'new' lens and wote a complaint to RongJuan Xie. he/she aplogized and said to return the lens and another would be shipped right away. Keep in mind, this is February in CHICAGO! So what did RongJuan do? The lens was shipped by ground and got caught up in the weather with many days of delay. Meanwhile I ordered another lens from someone else and refused delivery when the RongStar lens finally arrived.

I told RonJuan in advance that I would be refusing delivery of the second lens due to the extreme delays - since it was shipped by ground instead of priority. RongJuan should have done a whole lot better to satisfy the customer.

The second lens was tracked all the way back to Elkgrove, Illinois and that is where the trail stopped. RongJuan claimed the lens was not received and has ceased communication.

So to recap:

RongJuan sent me a damaged lens that I spent a lot of time to install only to find out it did not work.

I then had to remove the lens - more time - and return it for an exchange at my expense.

The the replacement lens was sent by parcel post instead of priority mail in the dead of winter where it was delayed for >10 days..

I refused to accept the lens and had it returned by USPS. The lens was tracked back to Elkgrove, Il.

I am out $85 for the lens, postage and the time it took to install the defective lens then remove it again.
