I wanted to rip some of my DVD's to MP.4 for watching on a tablet.
Read some reviews and downloaded the free trial version.
As expected, it wouldn't open any of my movies.
So, i downloaded and paid for Digiarty's WinX DVD Platinum Version for about $30.
First, the download from the Avantgate (sp?) was attrocious. Lots of spamware got loaded onto my computer along with the program. Took several hours to find and remove all the junk.
The Platinum version openeed about half my DVD's but took about 12 to 16 HOURS to convert one movie. And, the final file was unreadible when viewed. Audio worked though! I contacted customer service and got amazingly quick response. But, everything they suggested did not help. Of course, they suspected there was something wrong wiht my computer.
I don't have much patience with programs that don't work out of the box. The second highest rated ripper program (starts with a ""P"") cost me $39 and then downloaded it onto the same machine. Works fien and rips a usable DVD in 2 to 3 hours.
So, i have requested a refund, as they have a ""30 day trial guarantee."" No luck. they fight me on the terms of that guarantee and flat out refuse to give my money back. The $30 is nominal, but what a horrible policy support. Not a very useful program either. Buyer beware.
