Dish Network Reviews

  • Mar 23, 2015

I became a dish customer on January 4th,2015. And, I was told that I had to pay the first month of service and that was 55.76. I was trying to cancel my dish services ever since I had it cause it has been a headache and a problem. They gave me the month of February for free cause they didn't want to loose a new customer. So of course I agree but didn't know what I was getting myself into. I had to put my service on a short pause due to a situation I had at home. But, they didn't tell me that I had to ask for discounts or promotions. They, just jake my bill up. So, for this month of March I paid 57.23 and I was told that by one of the dish reps that my bill will be 57.23 for 6 months but call before my 6 months are up or my bill will go up. I was told that 2 weeks prior to that. And, now they want me to pay 158.14. I got bill for 2 months. I told them that I already paid the 57.23 and I don't have any control of the post office.

So, now my bill reads 4/4/15 thru 5/3/15. I'm not keeping there service that long. I'm getting new service through TWC. But, less cheater. And, I also was told that early cancelation fee is 200.00 and now I'm hearing 400.00 and also 440.00. I made it very clear that I'm not paying that. I will pay the 200.00. But, they have threaten to put it on my account. I guess they are talking about my credit report. And, I told them we will be in court. They have not live up to there expectation but thinks everybody else suppose too.

After moving Nov 28th 2013 and closing dish account in early Dec 2013, a notice was received of restricted/disconnected services in Feb of 2014 with an amount due on my closed account. After contacting dish and verifying the move my account was ultimately credited and the balance due cleared. Boxes were to be sent with return shipping paid for by dish for the equipment return although Dish had agreed to my daughter to wait while I finished recovering from major stroke as my belongings where in storage. After contacting dish again at the end of March about returning equipment Dish then stated the equipment was outdated and did not need returned after all.

Several months later a recovery agency claimed I owed dish $197. for the equipment and reported this false information to the credit bureaus where it reflects a derogatory mark on my file. After speaking with Dish they agreed to credit my account clearing my balance and sent return boxes agreeing to have this information removed from my report entirely as it was inaccurate because the Dish representative did in fact state the equipment was outdated and did not need to be returned. I also contact the collection agency to dispute this information and request it be removed. At some point Dish updated the amount still due as $15. not removing it and still not correctly reporting I owed them NOTHING nor correcting the error on my credit file.

After finding this information still attached to my credit file last week Feb 2015 I contacted them again where they again agreed to clear the balance and remove the derogatory remark from my credit file. This week after finding they still have not updated information. I contacted them again they again agreed to clear the balance to zero yet would not address the credit bureau issue. After being transferred to Supervisor who keep talking while I was talking confusing and frustrating me he then transferred to the office of the president who keep twisting my words and responses confusing me further then refused remove the remarks from my credit report claiming something I had said admitted fault on my/my families part and therefor they would not be removing from my credit file.

Taking advantage of my illness and my families exshaustion while not taking accountablility for there errors and misinformation is so unprofessional and simply immoral.

I already wrote to Better Business Bureau hoping I can reach resolution to my problem and I hope I can get assistance here.

I moved to a new location and called to have Dish's technician come out to install the satellite at my new place. But however, the Technician couldn’t install the satellite due to reception interference from the buildings surrounding my apartment. The technician was really nice and kind enough to call into Dish customer service for me informing customer service that he can’t get reception in my area and even asked if I can get the cancellation fee partially reduced, but to NO AVAIL!

Customer service informed me I am under contract and they will not waive the cancellation fee!! I signed a contract and therefore I will have to pay the early termination fee and or my other option is to down grade my package and pay 25.00 a month until my contract expires! What kind of option is that and what kind of customer service DISH is portraying to their customers to even offer that kind of options! My option is keep paying for a service that I can’t even use!!!! I informed Dish's rep, I have no problem with Dish, I actually like Dish and yes I signed a contract but Dish breached the contract by charging me money and can’t provide service! I told customer service if you continue to charge me than come and install service at my place! I WANT it, I am not breaching my contract and Dish’s customer service informed me sorry we CANNOT INSTALL DISH IN YOUR NEW HOME BECAUSE WE CANNOT PROVIDE RECEPTION AND SERVICE AT YOUR HOME!!

DISH, you promised to provide service and you are not coming through with your end of the agreement. The contract is for you to provide service and in exchange, you take away my hard-earned money! Dish since you can’t provide service and yet you wont waive my cancellation fee, this is how you deal with your customers?

I got a promo flyer in the mail from Dish Network. It indicated a package with NHL Center Ice and as I am a big hockey fan I called to order it. The technician came and before he left he indicated that if I was unhappy with anything in the first month that I could just cancel. Then he had me sign a sig pad and told me that I would get my contract in the mail. Well, I found out on hockey night that I did not have NHL Center Ice or CSN bay area which is a local channel that plays all the SJ Sharks games. So I call Dish and they tell me that they don't have NHL Center Ice and CSN is not a local channel; But, it is. I tell them that the flyer indicates the package I got has it and they say that they no nothing about that. Later I find out online that Dish can't offer CSN because they were involved in a law suit with Comcast over that channel and lost. I tell Dish that I want to cancel.

It has only been 2 1/2 weeks and they tell me that there is no one month grace period and that I have to pay $480. They started yelling at me and told me that the flyer and the technician have no significance and that I can't cancel or if I do I have to pay $480 early termination fee. I tell them that I did not get the channels I was promised in the flyer and they just keep on saying that they don't know anything about it and have no solution to help me; that I just have to stay with them for 2 yrs and that they can't do anything. I switched to Direct TV and have all of the channels that I was promised. I cancelled the credit card that Dish had billed but they will probably start sending me a bill for the $480. I don't feel that I should have to pay it since what I signed up for I did not get plus I was lied to by the technician. Dish billed my credit card ahead for one month and told me that they would not credit the difference.

Dish Network took $359.36 out of my checking account twice this month (8/15/14 & 8/17/14) I called 8/19/14 and was told they would refund $359.36 to my account in 3-4 days. I asked about any INF fees and they told me to call them back and they would take care of the charges. I waited 7 days (8/28/14) and called again and they told me they would have to wait 12 days before they will issue the refund and they will not give me a refund for the $140 of INF cjaregs my bank charged me because to the double payment. I only want the payment back anf the INF charges I incurred.

I am a victim of a scam artist who had access to my Online Dish account and activated additional channels and processed credits.

I got a call from a guy who offered a special promotion of activating extra channels for 2 years at a special price of $600.00. He activated some extra channels while talking to me over the phone and placed an order for a new receiver for the second tv as well, which was installed by a technician from dish. He also credited $3000.00 on July 6 in my dish account . So I sent a payment of $600.00 through Walmart to Walmart Transfer to a person at Houston .

I became suspicious about the promotional offer , the moment I saw a new bill generated by Dish for all the extra channels that have been activated. Also the credit was processed using a different credit card and the card that I normally use for auto payment for the past several years was removed from my online profile. So When I contacted dish directly to verify this, they connected me to fraud department and I was told that the credit has come from somebody else's credit card and I have been cheated. They confirmed that the credit deposit didn't come from dish credit dollars or any promotional discount card as claimed by the scam artist.

What made me to fall for this promotion was the activation of extra channels, installation of a new receiver from Dish and credit of $3000.00 in my dish account.

On top of losing $600.00 , now I have another billing issue that Dish has not resolved yet. Dish has processed two debits - one transaction towards the refund to the holder of the credit card and the other transaction towards the charge back to the bank . So they have debited $6000.00 in my account instead of clearing a credit amount of $3000.00 in a single transaction. Because of the outstanding balance issue, my service has been disconnected and they have sent a box to me to return the receiver as well. I am still waiting for Dish to get the feedback from the Bank (credit card used by the scam artist to post the credit) for more than a month now. I have been told that the dual debit transaction happened as they got the call from the credit card holder as well as the bank.

My account now has a balance amount of $3000.00 and my service has been terminated because of this issue

I have also learnt from online google search recently that the same scam has been happening for several years now and there has been several victims like me. I would like to know how a third party can get access to my online Dish account to activate channels and to post payment (extra payment to the amount of $3000.00), and how Dish can process refund and chargeback to reverse one credit payment?

We signed up for Dish Network , to qualify I neeeed to pay a dollar to get things going I used my card and it was a bank debit card upon doing this I asked if that's all i was gonna be billed as I did not want to use this card for any other billing , they assured me no , the next day the told me that my wife would qualify better than me and we went threw with signing up , then used my wife's debit card to use as monthly billing , well we moved a year later and the Dish Network guy told us that it was a hard place to get a strong signal . Well we cancelled and never received a return kit for the equipment , we called they said they shipped it out ? then they said they were gonna bill her care for canceling while on phone I had my wife cancel her card as I did not agree with their charges and they kept insisting it's in the contract , anyways we cancelled the card , still a month later to return kit has shipped to us and this morning a $771 charge to my card that was used for the dollar down deal was charged I called and got I was being transferred to the office of the president and they insisted it's in the fine print that if they don't get their equipment they have that right , well I was promise my care was only used that one time , they are very sleazy and I feel robbed , I have no money as my paycheck was taken by them , my bank said to file a complaint and I can get my money back but it can take ten days ? They knew this was wrong but to hold me up they did this , first no kit has shipped that's their fault not mine , my feeling is this is wrong this is criminal but they get away with it ! Dish Network is a shady outfit I am glad I now see them for what they are , and I hope they lose all their buisiness and lose money they are a sleazy , shady criminal operation and they have caused me so much headaches and put me in a bad financial mess , why can a company get away with this ?

Extremely disappointed with DishNet!

I am paying for the fastest internet they offer which is $59.99! and I cant even use it properly. I can't use my netflix or Skype and those are the only two things I use. I currently have a bundle and wanted to remove the DishNet since it does not work and they want to charge me $350!!!!! I've had technical guys come to my house to fix the problem and it still does not work, I've tried calling dish to get their help and all they say is " you Internet is working properly"

Very very frustrated.

I received a bill with no name on it, simply an account number. The bill was from "Dish Network" for $812.81 out of Palentine Illinois. We have never used Dish Network, so it was apparent right away that this is a rip off!

The bill also indicated it was from Allied Interstate LLC out of Warrenton VA. Other addressess used are Southgate MI and 7525 West Campus Road, New Albany OH.

Dish Network offers the "move in deal"

where they move you for free and then give you 3 months of two premium channels for free

well that is a lie and their excuse is if you service has been interrupted that they cannot give you this offer

HOW DO YOU MOVE WITHOUT YOUR SERVICE BEING INTERRUPTED?

total scam and something should be done about this type of false advertising

Had service for less than 2 months and called technical support over 20 times and had a technican come out over 3 times. They refuse to release me from the contract. How can you hold someone to a contract if your not providing a service? These people are the worst! I wanna file a lawsuit but dont know which way to go. Something have to stop, the reviews and complaints Ive read is ridiculous. This company need to not hold comsumers to contrats or just close. They make you sign a contract because the service sucks

I responded to a Dish ad that was dropped in my mailbox. I called an 800 number that was ""Dish"" and they connected me with a sales representative. I ordered Dish TV and internet. The Dish was on special and the internet was regular price. I was told the TV part would be on contract to get the special price and the installation would be free. I had to give my credit card for them to charge me.

A man came to my house to do the installation. He ripped out my Directv dish and threw it away. He put in all the equipment and I agreed to purchase my wireless router for a one time price of around $99. The advertised price for the Dish was 29.95 a month and $50 for the wireless internet. The man asked me to sign in his phone on a line for the installation.

First my account was debited $45 which Dish explained was a referral fee because the number on my ad I called was a reseller and that was their commission for ""connectin me"" to Dish (They transferred me to another number) Then when my bill came it was not $79.95 a month it was $109. Plus of course the billing for the wireless router. When I tried to find out what was going on and why the extra charges. Dish just told me the price was the price and I had signed a contract to that effect. I did not have any reciepts and had never signed anything except the man's phone which was represented to me as an acknowledgement of the installation.

My laptop computer broke and I called Dish to cancel my internet service. They told me I had signed a 2 year contract for internet which I had not. The $50 price was not a special. They refused to cancel the internet. Meanwhile Dish charged me for service twice in the same month and I stopped paying them. They told me I had a contract and sent me this pack of documents I had never seen or signed with poorly made copies of my signature pasted on them. I told them they were frauds and I wanted nothing more to do with them. My account is off but they won't let me return my equipment and say they will keep charging me for everything including the equipment. They won't cancel my service even though I am not getting any service and they lied to me about everything including falsely advertising in California for a Florida reseller posing as ""Dish"" who collects a comission for making a telephone transfer This company is extremely shady and I want nothing more to do with them. I want them to collect their equipment and go away.

I hate dish support, they dont understand customers even though we pay outrageous bill charges.

recently i got call from dish support guy saying he is from dish and he gave promotion for 2 yr program free for just $900.00. And he added bunch of programs, they have connection internally with dish behind the scenes and added some programs and made my monthly bill go up.

they backed my account with some gift cards what they say and asked us to send money to some guy in ca adeel and then after few months all those gift cards charged back and the bill is outstanding and connection is cancelled.

when talked to dish says yes we know that kind of fraud, we can't help it even though you did not added the programs you have to pay. i said why i pay when they hacked your systems behind the scenes and you actually allowed our private information to loose and now my identity is lost. they say no dish systems are not hacked they activated the program from your online account. I said they added bunch of deals that i don't see on online account access, it has to be inside job. I said dish you don't fix your systems, you don't go after this fraud guys

dish is risking customer personal information

- never put banking information on dish accounts, they are easily hacked by these groups

-- never pay by credit card or debit card on dish account, no one knows what charges will be applied to your cards

-- not sure what else they took from your account like ssn , date of birth street address

-- dish is not fair to understand our concern, we lost our money, we lost dish service and over the top we have to pay huge bill that dish said that programs were added by me so i have to pay even after i told them do not refund excess money from my account

these fraud guys called dish internal and asked them to erase those special comments and finally the have full control of dish account

dish don't don anything, and still they charge huge bill, while netflix etc can be available for less than $10. the whole dish is stupid, high charges, bad customer support, fraud guys throw deals that makes us attractive and we lose money and we lose dish service

i can't afford dish service at the cost of person identity theft, my banking information is public available for fraud guys to exchange in black markets, and dish studious bill

i recommend people to stop taking dish for ever there bill goes up up up 74.99 per month

and dvr fee

and extra receiver fee

and hd fee

and etc

and etc

so expensive and highly unsecured.

better for me is to get sxxxxx radio for live news and watch nxxxxxx for entertainment and if possible have over the air digital transmission service

all end up by $30 bucks a month and your life is happy.

i hate dish support not even understanding about my situation just want their bill to be paid and don't protect our banking information. i have zero consumer confidence in dish

Sign up for Dish and get a free Ipad so they lead you to belive.

Well they gave me a good rate for dish and I told them I get a Ipad if I signed up, Yes you get it 4 to 6 weeks.

Well I asked 3 to 4 times while they were installing the dish and always yes.

I wait 4 weeks and call to see when to expect to get my ipad, and they look me up and say Sr you took the option of a cheaper rate not the ipad, I said no mam, there wasn't a options just wanted ipad is the hole reason I signed up was for the ipad .

They said in the papers I signed was for a cheaper payment but there never was anything saying or ever bought up anything about it. So they tell you there isn't anything they can do its to late, so the moral of the story is they get you to sign up with you thinking your getting a ipad but they know you won't get it unless you read all the fine print on 8 pages and it's hid in there some were it says you took cheaper deal. Stay away from Companies that pray on consumers that takes what they tell you is true. Now they want to charge me 456 dollars for canceling them for lying to me. Don't Use DISH

Mc

I've been with dish for years but recently upgraded my service and had problems with deceptive sales practices, equipment & installation, and having to deal with their horrendous customer service numerous times!

First, the equipment installed wouldn't do what they stated. The equipment had to be upgraded in order to do what it originally was supposted to do. After the upgraded equipment was installed & the installer left I discover the entertainment center was not put back in postion and I can't do it, plus cables for other equpment were missing. Aso the equipment was making a relatively loud irritating noice compared to the equipment I had used for years so I called the same day about the defective equipment. After some questions about the type of entertainment center, they decided to send a replacement. Great but they want to charge me for installation. Why should I have to pay due to their defective equipment?

Finally equipment was installed for the 3rd time and seemed to be okay. Before I get my first inflated bill with undisclosed charges, the equipment is making the same loud irritating noise as before. In 4 months time I have experienced 2 price increases and I'm stuck with this irritating equipment! I work out of the house and have to listen to it all day long.

Why isn't there a class action suit about their invalid contracts and hidden fees??? Informed consent is a basic requirement for a valid contract. We're never even given a chance to see it beforehand.

Also, if you sign one thing electronically, they'll copy your signature and paste it elsewhere relating to other things you have no knowledge off and haven't consent too.

It's irritating to see their commercials about their great customer service because it couldn't possibly be any worse.

I have had problems with dishnetwork since day one, hooked up wrong came out again did nothing and came out a third time did nothing. I paid the full amount last month witch was 2 months and still said i owed 44 dollars and now my bill is a 176 dollars for channels they added on themselves and channels they told me would be half price for for 2 channels.and the ones they added on i found out were supposed to be at half price.Ruined the side of my house by sreewing into the outside walls and they play the same movies over and over and if you dont have the movies channels they change their programs where there is nothing on so you will buy the movie channels. Directv did the same thing and let there sattilites on my roof and now there is three major leaks on the roof one from dish and directv so i guess thats two complaints in one.

After many, many attempts to resolve this problem, it continues on. After about a year of service from Dish Network, I started getting charged $7.00/mo for DVR service which I never, ever ordered & refused to pay. I don't even own a DVR. They told me that they cannot take the charge off my bill. CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT ONE?? They have no problem adding it on but they cannot take it off?? I made numerous attempts by phone & email to correct it. Just kept getting the good ole ""RUN AROUND"".

This company after signing the TV contract they refuse to transfer my service from Sebring to Sarasota because there was still 1 year to go, they sent my balance to the collection company, I called many times, and tried to explain to the credits buries they refuse also to listen, when there is merchants like this dishonest and liars that steal from the consumer, they will put on your credit report in spite that they know they are guilty. Scammers pieces of garbage, I have to say never was satisfied with their service anyway but at the end they turn around, and didn’t do what they were supposed to do.

  • Apr 24, 2014

I had Frountier phone internet and tv, but it just kept getting more and more expensive, so first I tried to just not have the tv part, but instead of getting less expensive it cost more with out the dish part, so I got the dish part back, then my bill was even higher, So I asked if it would be cheaper with out the phone line, but they said not it would be even more. I kept seeing ads from frountier for much less expensive services, and with out a contract, so I tried to get the service with out a contract, but that was for new customers only, even though I had been a good customer always paying my bill on time. Finely I saw a charter ad that said there was no contract so I switched to them, but Frountier made it very hard, I had to call them over and over to get everything disconnected, and I asked them what my finel bill would be and they said I had to send back the tv boxes and I would get a credit for that, so I did that right away. then I got a finel bill and it was higher than they said it would be, so then I called them and they said I would be getting a credit for returning my box, So I paid that finel bill. then I started getting notices that I had a credit of 40 something dollars, which I did not know what I was supposed to do with a credit, and at the same time I started getting bills from Dish, which I had never dealt with before as I dealt with Frountier, and had paid all the finel early disconect bill and all t he other crap they added on. . As I was getting notices for a credit, and at the same time getting notices for a bill I thought they would straighten it out, but then after several months on the same day I got a bill in collections from dish for almost a hundred dollars and also a small check from Frountier for 17.00, I thought they had made a mistake, but when I called them they said that dish and Frountier were seperate and that the credit had been revoked and that the charge was for returning my boxes, they were actually chargeing me, not crediting me for returning the boxes and also chargeing me a seperate early disconect from Frountier, what is also wrong is that the amount doubled each time the bill was sent. When I said that I already paid the early disconect fee they said that my check had been revoked, I assured them that was not true as I had never cancelled a check in my life, then they addmitted that was wrong, but that dish was charging me a seperate disconect fee from Frountier, as they said as soon as I discontued service, they had become seperate and were to be dealt with seperatley, and had nothing to do with each other. When I asked what had become of the bigger credit that I had gotten notices for they said that had been revoked. So in the end I have to send them even more money and who even knows if it is the last of it as they seem to have no rules about billing, and seem to have all the power. Pain and simple fact is that Dish is a rip off and the frountier partners them in the rip off. So the best thing to do is for no one to buy dish, to put the power back in the consumers hands, punish those who rip us off.

My cousin got dish network a few months ago and I agreed to pay the deposit and he gave me the cash. He has since cancelled his service. This morning I woke up to find a $600 charge on my bank account from Dish!!!!!

I called my cousin and he said he wasn't sure what it was for. I then called my bank who told me to call Dish.

I called Dish who then told me that since I had paid the deposit that I was responsible for the cancellation charges on the account. They told me that I would have to dispute the charges through my bank.

Paperwork for the bank dispute is in the mail, however this charge took my whole paycheck and left me overdrawn by almost $400. I now have several bills that are due and the money to pay them is GONE!!!!!!

DO NOT EVER GIVE DISH YOUR CC NUMBER!!!!!
