Drive Time Reviews

I decided to lease a vehicle from Drive Time and it has become the worst mistake of my life. I obtained my lease in March and the vehicle has been in the repair shop over 5 times. The FIRST problem I had happened within a week of getting the vehicle. The vehicle was a Jeep and was leased to me without being checked for problems because It had no back brakes. After going thru thier warranty company and 2 different shops, they were fixed. That problem only cost me 2 days worth of work.

The SECOND problem is the brakes in the front have the cheapest brakes available and it sounds like I'm killing a cat everytime I use them. Of course this is not covered because the brakes were not worn down enough to be replaced. The THIRD problem was several recalls on the vehicle themselves that had to be done by JEEP, and that required more missed work, and continues to have a recall on the ignition switch that JEEP doesn't feel is important enough to provide the parts just yet. I have however had the truck just cut off on the iterstate due to that faulty ignition switch causing me to almost be killed due to oncoming traffic. The FOURTH is a problem with the Air bags.

The diagnostic took 3 weeks to be done, and finally I was told to take it to the jeep dealer because my passenger airbags wouldn't deploy if I were hit. The FIFTH problem was the truck cutting on and off, failing power, electrical failure, and several system lights being activated. I was told that I needed a tune up and had to have my spark plugs replaced. Of course all f these things are not covered by the warranty company"Aeverex" and had to be paid by me. Corporate said "Due to my many problems, we will see if we will help with any repair reimbursement cost after you pay the diagnostic fee and it is assessed, but you must pay the amount due until we decide."

I have yet to be able to reach this "customer relations" department since to obtain help with my issues. Finally, yesterday the truck started having the same issues with the power going out, and the truck cutting off and on, but this time the engine light stayed on. I called those people at "Aeverex" and was told to take it to the repair shop. The repair shop diagnosed the vehicle and said they are not equiped to handle the repair it must be sent to the JEEP dealership for repair and re-diagnosis in the morning. Today I called the repair shop for an update and was told they took the car to the Pomoco Jeep dealership in Hampton and I would have to contact them for any inquiries.

I did call the jeep dealership and was told they did receive the truck today and could probably get to working on it by tomorrow afternoon or possibly monday. Needless to say I am frustrated and unale to work due to this problem yet again with this "PIECE OF CRAP CAR", and have been told by the warranty company that they couldn't offer invoice for a rental until they get the diagnostic from JEEP. Then after calling back and speaking to another representative and being told the same information, I was transferred to a supervisor who said that they dont offer rental reimbursement for lease vehicles and I was SOL and advised to call Drive Time. I have currently been on hold with corporate for over 45 minutes waiting for a representative. I have lost several days of pay and so much money trying to have a vehicle that is reliable. Please shut them down so that this doesn't happen to another person!

My husband and I went to Drive Time in Huntsville, we decided on the type of vehicle we wanted but they werw going to have to get it from another dealership. They told us it would be a couple of days. Three weeks later we get called and told they had the vehicle we wanted. We made a down payment and were signing paperwork. The last part we saw that the.price was higher than what we were told and they said it was because they got us a higher quality car instead of what we wanted. Then a month later we get called and were told the VIN was wrong on all.of our paperwork and we needed to come ASAP so they could change it. They told us they would fill our car up with gas to make up for their mistake, that never happened. We had to get another tag, which cost us a penalty fee, we had to change our insurance, which cost us a penalty fee, not to mention had we had an accident we wouldn't have been covered. They told us the VIN was changed and everything had been corrected.

In May I went to ge the breaks checked, they needed to be changed. When sears called Averex so that they could approve the payment of new breaks they said the VIN on my vehicle did not match what they had and would not pay for anything. I called Drive Time, three people later I was told they would have to call me back. I never got a phone call back. I called again. I was told again they would have to call me back. I never got a call back. I made a car payment as scheduled, for some unknown reason it got repoed. My husband called and asked why, the person said he didn't know all he could say there was and order for it to be repoed. My husaband told him we had made a payment that morning and the response from the drive time employee was "thats not my problem" then told him if he wanted the car back WE had to pay $90 because that was the towing fee from where they sent a tow truck to get it. Not only did they take our money, they took our car, is holding it for a $90 ransom on top of us paying fees for their mistakes.

Drive time is another dealer that does you wrong I went and put down on a vehical got the car as soon as I left the lot got on freeway the car started jerking and engine light came on so I took it back the next day to switch out the car stayed there all day long got into the second vehical drove off had to turn around and go right back because the fluid light and brake light came on so they supposedly put fluid in there because they took it to the back stayed there all day left the lights were off the next day which was a Sunday not a business day I almost crashed into someone because the brakes weren't good the lights came on again so Monday morning I took it to brake check on the way there I again almost hit someone because when I draked the peddle was to the rim which made a sound. And it would slide before it would stop brake check stated the car was unsafe so took it back to drive time the whole dealer was bad bad service they don't take care of there customers not compassionate at all he manager / general manager said there was new inventory in we could look for something else or get my money back I have to work take kids to school day care I can't put that on hold so I decided to look for something else he said if we didn't find anything we can maybe.

Look into a group 1 cars so the cars they showed me was the same cars I seen so there wasn't any new inventory so I was waiting for him to say we can start looking into group 1 like he said but no he said well he was sorry theres nothing he could do didn't have the choice of fixing the problem on the car I had because they didn't have a service department there so I said just give me my money back oh he bust my bubble because he said I have to wait 7-10 days to receive it. That he would see if they can get it out sooner its been a week already I called customer relations the dealer haven't even processed the refund that they would do it today which is what customer relations told me so know I have to. Start over and wait 7-10 days minus the week I waited already the man did not even do it like he said he would how can they do people like that I lost my job because I can't get to and from work my job consisted of travel so of course I can't make it don't go to drive time they also keep 200 of your down payment for a restocking fee but they did wave that fee I guess because I had proof stating the vehical is unsafe how can dealers sell lemon cars messed up cars and get away with it there perfected and what about us the buyers we get screwed that's not right at all drive time you suck as well as swag bad business unprofessional all they do is sit around and joke all day lazy and bad customer service there was only 2 caring nice young gentleman that work there the rest no way y'all be careful read the fine print ask questions about everything take a mechanic or your husband with u because they tend to get over on woman !!!!

There was a time I could have sworn by DriveTime's customer service, incentives, warranties, and great deals. I was impressed by the hassle free lease program and low payment so much so I had no problem be a walking advertisment in addition to the DTLoyalty Referral Program which offers $200 for any referrals who purchases a car. Hey what an incentive I though since I was already bragging on Drive Time, I can also make money towards my own installments. I referred two of my close friends who purchased vehicles and made theirs first schedule payments as required. Whoo h*o $400 in referrals. One month passes call the dealership ..no credits yet ...Okay no problem continue to make my payments. Two months go by call the dealership ...no credits yet...Okay no problem continued to make my payments. Three months ..go into the dealership.. no credits yet...Okay no problem but a little concerned still made my payments. My good friends who I referred even called Drive Time feeling a little concerned as well but was assured that everything was fine. Next payment is coming up going on the fourth month, I go into Drive Time .."Ms. Farley we got u squared away your account will be credited on your next months payment. " Yeah me , $400.00 credit plus I made a payment of $80 covered well over my next two installments of $219.00 . One month passed a couple of days beforeb for my next scheduled payment will be due a Recovery Tow Truck pull up to my house and repos my car! I'm in disbelief... I'm in tears ...I dont understand what is going on. I have always made my payment.. I have always been a loyal customer ..I gave this company business and in return I was lied to ..I was scammed...I was taken advantage of ....I was livid. No one picked up the phone ...emailed...sent a letter...buzzed the car with the GPS ..nothing . The dealership did not credit my accounts after talking to several rude insensitive unprofessional Customer Service Representatives for their corporate offices who not once tried to resolve such ,as I thought, a complete injustice on Drive Time . The new general manager of my local Drive Time office Reginald Peterson did absolutely nothing to right this wrong and was so unconcerned he even had the audacity to huff and puff on the phone because I was wasting his time as he repeated over and over again my referrals didn't complete the process. Process??? They were refered, they purchased vehicle's, they even called on my behalf when I became concerned with the time it took to received the promised referral credits. The sales representatives Adrian and Greg who had spoken to myself...my husband ..and my referrals several times were not even contacted or question by this so called General Manager. As we speak , my car is still in their possession ...my property I cannot retrieve unless I pay an outragouse amount including repo fees..storage fees and what ever else they are trying to scam me out of. I am still in disbelief I was a loyal customer I made my payments I gave them business and their DTLoyalty DTRoyalty screwed me...or so they think....This is in direct violation of the Fair Debt Collection Act not to mention several other violations civil and criminal that Drive Time Corporate and my local Drive Time dealership office will soon become very aware of . I emplore you don't fall into the fast talk...the fake warranties.. and smoke and mirror incentives of Drive Time. Drive Time cares nothing about customers only profits. When its all said and done, Drive Time might think twice about be scam artist and more on being a reputable business.

I went in to the Jacksonville location, the sales lady started getting aggravated with me because i did not want any of the cars on their lot. She checked all the fluids with me, seen they were low. I was told all that would be fixed. IT WAS NOT. 1 week after getting the car, things started going wrong with it. I have just now had the car a month and it has already had almost $1,000 worth of work done to it and half the stuff i told them was wrong STILL isnt fixed. I was transfered to the Manager of the Jacksonville store, James. He told me I had 2 choices i could swap into another car or since my experience had been so bad, I could get my money back and everything would be voided and it wouldnt go against my credit. He told me to call him todayand let him know what I decided. Today, 5/6/2014 I called to let him know I just wanted my money back and was going to move on, I was informed that it was impossiable to do so and I was stuck with what I had. This company is a scam from the word go.

Drivetime repossessed my car for lapse of insurance. Although there was no lapse. I sent in the declaration as they requested. Now no one can find it and they didn't bother to call me or respond to my email stating that the insurance had no lapse. Buy the way, this is the second time they have repossesed my car. The first time they repossessed my car was for a payment which was "two weeks past due". The payment was two weeks past due because they would change my due dates when I switched jobs.

If I switch from a job paying weekly to a job paying biweekly, my car payments will always be late! Now I am carless once again, facing a $300 repo fee, plus a storage fee of $125. All because they were to lazy to contact me, in response to the email that was sent to them. They never are willing to work with you and they always have this cocky attitude when talking to customers on the phone. I WANT MY CAR BACK! I don't have money to just throw away on a vehicle that they clearly are looking to resell since they were so repo happy. This is a wrongful repossession and its illegal.

Horrible customer service after I bought the car. Leased me a complete lemon and refused to fix it. Wasn't covered under their warranty apparently. Only had the car 6 weeks and it broke down with 2 cracked head gaskets, broken cam shaft, broken sensors, and other problems. I even went to supervisors and the refused to do anything. Said my choices were either give the car back, fix it myself, or pay a $500 transfer fee. All while still paying $250 every 2 weeks.

About a 2008 jeep Compass from drivetime on August 1, 2013. I tried to return the car in the first five days because it had major problems but drivetime insisted that they have Eastgate Chrysler to see if the car could be fixed. But Eastgate Chrysler and Indy tire both stated that the car could not have passed inspection with the problems that had. Drivetime still would not take the car back. I have had nothing but problems with this car since the date it was purchased . The sunroof needs to be replaced at a cost of at least $2000 there is $700 in breaks that need to be done there is $1500 in a steering console that needs to be replaced I just had $1000 worth of work done because the tires literally fell off of it. I have turned in all the paperwork I have done everything they have ask but Kyle Smith supposed to be in the corporate office has done nothing but lie about everything. I have asked to speak to Raymond C Fidel which is the CEO of drive time and they won't let you. Instead they give you the runaround. I've only had the car nine months and had problems from day one.

I purchased a Dodge Plymouth minivan from Drivetime. right after the first payment the van needed to be repaired, needless to say repairs were a way of life for this vehicle. The final straw came when the engine blew on the van; now mind you I made sure that I took advantage of the free oil chages to ensure that if anything went wrong my warranty would be honored. Well needless to say, my warranty was not honored and i recieved the run around from their warranty department to get them to fix the vechile. However, they had no problem with calling me for my car payment. I would not recoomend this company to anyone, they make it easy to get into a car, but they put crap out on the streets and only care about money.I hope someone shuts this company down, and everyone that was/is victimized by Drive Time sees some type of retribution.

I purchased a 2005 GMC Envoy from DriveTime (DT) thinking they had a solid 3 year warranty plan and service calls as part of their marketing strategy. After purchasing the truck, I drove about 50 miles to get home and the engine light came on. When I called the company to complain, they immediately began referring me to their mechanics that work within their warranty plan. My first complaint was and is, I just bought the car, and in less than 24 hours I am having mechanical issues, #2 The second day the car was in the shop ALL day, #3 Upon picking up the car from the mechanic, the light was off and I filled the gas tank up ($65) only for the car to cut completely off on the 3rd day. DT has a 3 day guarantee policy and I am grateful that everything happened within those three days because I took them back their truck and left DT alone. NO ONE should be in a position of buying a vehicle only to have to be in the shop using their warranty within 24 hours of buying! DT did rescind the contract but not without a fight and it took them almost 3 weeks to return my downpayment!

I traded my car in that had a blue book value of $3200. .drivetime only gav me $700 for my 1999 mitsubishi galant. They won me over with their so called 3 year warranty. Within 2 days of me having the vehicle I had to replace both clamps that hold the exhaust up. . Found out thats wat the scrapn was when I drove. My driver door had something broke in it & couldnt unlock doors nor ropll down driver window. . My brakes were missing some pins? Which caused my breaks to rattle extrmely loud.

The worst part was the 3 leaks in the transmission. Kept noticing puddles where I parkd. I got it into drivetimes shop to b told it would cost. Almost $1000. To fix evrything. Also, needed a new battery & alternator!!!! Drivetime said the leaks werent in the parts of the tansmission that r covrd. - nor the battery or alternator. Ive read complaints on bbb. .drivetime is a scam & thy nd to b shutdown!! Single mothr of 6 takn advantage

I am presently seeking legal representation for a warranty / finance / identity dispute with DriveTime. This is just a sample of the first issue. I just bought my car in 10/2010 and less than 2 days off the lot I had problems. I took it to the dealership to return it because we have a cancellation period here in Colorado and they insisted I would be charged money to return the vehicle and that if I kept the car they would make sure the problem was fixed. Well needless to say but after 6 mo's, 4 different shops, countless down time w/o a vehicle, the car is still not fixed. I personally had it looked at by a special mechanic to diagnose the problem, after he diagnoses the issue DriveTime says they won't fix it because it was from the previous ownership, even though its the same issue since I bought the car!! By the way the car is still in the shop!!!
