I had some issues with credit but needed a vehicle to get to a new job. The only place I could find that would finance a car for me was DriveTime. They said one of the benefits of buying a car with them was to repair my credit. I purchases a Ford Ranger from them at almost 3 times it's bulebook value. The loan percentage rate was 24%! I paid every payment on time and in full. I paid the loan off with a perfect payment history in February 2014. Drivetime nver reported my payment history to the crefit bureaus. They were engaged in harassing their unpaid customers by reporting negatively to the bureaus multiple times and ruining their credit! They were subject to a class action suit, and as part of the settlement werr forced to wipe all histories from the credit bureaus. Furthermore they are not allowed to report on credit for any loans prior to October 2014, whether they were paid in full or defaulted on!

We bought a used vehicle in march from drive time auto in Columbus Ohio. After just 2 weeks of having the car it breaks down. They say they put their vehicles through a riguous inspection...no they do not. I have not read one good review for this company. They have ripped off a lot of customers. They charge a high payment and charge more than car is worth. Something needs to be done about this. It should be against the law to hurt people in this way.

Bought a car from Drivetime in Independence, MO in January. Parking brake failed within the first two weeks. It was under warranty and they repaired the switch and the mechanism and then they realized it was a wiring problem. Wiring is not covered under warranty and was out of pocket $90. A few weeks later car began shutting down intermittently, took it back to the repair shop again. They told me the wiring was all wet due to leakage in the firewall and they thought it may have been going on for some time. Over $700 later out of pocket the car was repaired. I spoke with corporate office, many times, about the issues I was having with a car I have had for not even two months. Everytime I called it seemed to be a new call and had to explain things again. I finally spoke with someone that at least seemed to take ownership. He told me to send him the bills to see what can be done. I went back to the repair shop to get copies and they accidentally gave me a copy of an invoice when drivetime owned the vehicle before I bought it. The invoice stated that they brought in the car because back power windows were not functioning. The repair shop stated that there was a problem with the wiring having moisture in it and recommended needing replaced. Customer refused repair is what it said! In short they sold a car knowing it had major problems and it was not disclosed. I sent the invoices to them and they got back with me the next day. They wanted to refund a portion of my out of pocket expenses. I told them that is not good enough. He said that he could not pay me back for the one invoice that drivetime had sent the vehicle in. I told him he needs to read that invoice carefully, he quickly realized the weight of the issue and offered a full refund of the out of pocket expenses. I said the car was acting up again and was about to take it back to the shop. He said to take it back to the local drivetime and turn the car in without repairing it. They tried forcing me to get another car but I refused and the finally rescinded the contract and I got to walk away. The car was back for sale 2 days later. Wow.

I purchased a vehicle 16 months ago from Drivetime,There contract states clearly that they report to all 3 major credit agencies. Called all three to get Credit score , They have no record of any. This is fraudulent to customers purchasing a vehicle through there company, and it is a Breech of there contract. It needs to be investigated I feel they are commiting a type of tax fraud as well not showing how many vehicles they sold within that year. The response I got was that they had some errors in reports and deleted info and woukd be reporting in End of March.

I purchased a 2009 Volkswagan Tiguan from drive time in Orlando. The first week the car was running fine, the second week I notice that every time I pushed on the brake it would sweak loudly. So I reviewed my contract and it stated that they would not fix or be responsible for sweaky brakes. A couple of months down the line my engine light comes on. I immediately contacted Drive time and they sent me to a repair shop. While at the repair shop the technician informed me that the car had 4 issues that came up during the diagnosis. So they proceeded to try to repair these problems, 10 min later they came back and said that they were not able to fix it because there are some major issues that may end up costing thousands. Again I contacted drive time and they told me to take it to a Volkswagen dealer to get it fixed. The next couple of days I took the car to a dealer and they inform me that the repairs needed were major and it would cost $2,500 to get them fixed. They told me that there were 4 major problems 2 were fixed because volkswagen had a recall and extended their warranty. However, the other two major issues were the throttle body and the other was a massive oil leak from the rear main seal, and the oil separator. The technician explained to me that these issues were there for a while and is getting worse. I called drive time once again and they informed me that they are not responsible for these repairs. Now I'm stuck paying $446 a month with a car that might go out at any time and I don't have the cash to repair it. Please Please people stay away from these crooks they are only out to get your money and sell you crap!!!!! I will never ever ever deal with these people in the future and will never refer anyone I know to them. Their repair warranty only covers minor items so don't buy from them no such thing as bumper to bumper coverage at drive time!!!

no proof of payoff

i bought a 2009 sonata from them about 7 months ago. i bought a "warranty" through them for 2500 thinking it was a good thing since tjis was a used car. the car was fine but i noticed the tranny was slipping a few weeks later. i tool it in to a hyundai dealership for scheduled maintenance. i had to for over $500 to get tranny flushed and and radiator flushed. the air filter was black and had leaves in it. after this was done the car ran like new. no problems after that. last month i was hit by a truck full of drunk mexicans and the car was totaled. my insurance payed for little over half of tthe loan on the car. gap insurance paid for 3/4 of what was left after that. so that left $2100 left to be paid. after some digging i found out this was the extended warranty. aeverex paid for this to drivetime. so after 2 weeks after the wreck i contacted drivetime and they assured me the loan will be laid off. after haveing to spend $700 to rent a car for a month until i finally could look for a new vehicle. i presented the dealership for the new car the letters from my insurance had paid x amount and gap had paid x amount. they added the total and saw the 2100 difference. they went ahead and got me in the new car but i needed to get them something from drivetime stating either this was paid or the whole loan was getting or is paid. after 2 weeks of pulling teeth with their total loss department i have not been able to obtain anything in writing from them. but they do state this is paid off but they cannot provide anything proving it. this is holding up my financing for my new car. they offered to give vrrbal confirmation to the dealership and the financing for the new car. but they wont accept tjis

they want something official. drivetime says they dont provide proof that this has been paid or taken care of. i requested a typed letter but they refused. i find this very suspect that they cannot and will not provide proof of this being paid. i have talked to customer service only to be directed to total loss department. i have talked to 4 different people there and even talked to a manager in this department. still nothing. i stand a chance of having to return the new car over this and this is all over a letter or proof in writing tjis is paid. so if i lose the new car this will still affect trying to go anywhere else. i cannot wait 30 to 90 days for this to hit my credit report as paid. i dont trust them that tjis will even get reported to my credit. these pepple are shady and will hit you with an astronmical interest rate. i warn anyone looking to go with these crooks to go somewhere else. you will evemtually go through hell with these people.

The car I bought from Drivetime was traded in for a new Dodge Charger R/T at my local Dodge dealer. Part of my financing was to pay off Drivetime. I estimated what was owed and that was incorporated into the final numbers. The estimated amount was sent to drivetime, I got an email saying thank you for your payment of $12,800. this was great, then a little later I got my text saying thank you for your recent drive time payment of $12,522.07.

So I over paid by $277 and some change. Now I am on the phone with drivetime saying no refund is coming. They are claiming that the 10day payoff was different and that we were even. I disagree because when I called from the dealer the payoff was 12,722 something, and it just so happen to be the same day that an auto payment was made, but wasn't posted yet. So that should have brought the total down another 216 dollars.

I do have all the documentation to prove what I have stated above.

In August of 2012 while in search for a car for my wife we visited Drivetime dealership in Knoxville, TN. We were both working, but dont make a fortune and live paycheck to paycheck. My wife had just started her new job, so needed transportation back and forth other than my pickup truck. My wife found a car she liked 2009 Chevy Impala so we made a decision and started making the deal. I ended up co-signing on her car to lower payments, but still couldn't get an interest rate below 9%, which made our payments about 450.00 a month (payed 225.00 twice a month).

In October of 2012 my wife ended up losing her job. On top of the amount we were paying for rent, raising two children, and all of our other bills we really struggled with the car payments, but continued making them. My wife had some legal issues come up which presented her from getting a job, and we eventually fell 2 months behind on her car payments. They reposessed the car in February of 2013. We ended up having to use our whole income tax refund to get the car back in March in which besides catching up payments we missed, Drivetime piled on another pile of fees (storage, repo, etc...). We paid over $3000.00 to get the car back. Only about $1200.00 of that being missed payments.

Every payment I ever made on that car was made on-line with a $4.50 fee through Western Union to process the payment. Once we got the car back my wife was able to negotiate a lower monthly payment due to her inability to get a job. We also had the expense of moving to another city, and paying higher rent, etc.. Drivetime agreed and lowered our payment to 314.00 a month! Drivetime did not send any documentation, nor did they make the changes to reflect that change online. Every month for the next five months I paid what they showed our payment as being $206.04 plus the $4.50 fee a week before the payment was even due. After returning from an out of town trip on Saturday August 23, 2014 I had to take the car to pick my children up from my parents. While visiting with them there was a knock at their door, and I could hear the voice asking if my wife or myself were there. To my surprise, I walked out to see a tow truck already hooked to the car and lifted in the air. That little gal then proceeded to tell me that she was taking repossessing the car due to me not making the payments. I immediatedly contacted my wife to contact Drivetime, because I had record of every payment made with confirmation numbers. Of course although nobody was around working at Drivetime that day since it was a Saturday, yet the reposession gal told me she had talked to someone on her way to pick the car up. I was able to remove all of our belongings from the vehicle before she hauled it away. Even the little ole reposession gal said it was a very common occurence for these types of things to happen with people whom have done business with the Drivetime crooks.

On Monday morning my wife was able to finally speak with a Drivetime representative. She provided all the proof of the payments being made, and the representative was able to verify. She informed us that the car was indeed picked up because we were not paying the $314.00 monthly payments. After putting my wife on hold to speak to her manager, she came back as a beast. They refused to waive any of the fees, and said we would have to pay the difference of what they showed our payments as being to what they were. She also lied by saying that Drivetime had tried to contact us several times in that 5 month period by phone, and even had the gall to say they tried to reach us through a letter they mailed. I didn't have the $1500.00 in the bank to get the car back, and if I could have gotten my hands through the phone on the northern accented gal berating my wife i'd be in jail. My wife was able to talk to another representative of Drivetime a day or two later whom was more rationa to speak with. She asked about the lack of communication from Drivetime and about the letter that was supposedly sent out to us. That gentleman had no knowledge of any attempt by Drivetime to contact us about the mixup.

There is no way for us to get the car back based on our income. I really doubt that I would get it back if possible with the way Drivetime does business. To that end, a Drivetime rep did contact my wife by phone about a week ago and gave her a one time that day proposal to pay $1500.00 to get the car back. Please Please Please dont give these Drivetime crooks the satisfaction of burdening you with the financial and emotional stress that they use. Also, If you have a Drivetime car, it has a gps on it. They waited until I left my house with the car that day in August and travelled 30 minutes to my parents house, before coming to reposses the car, and leave me there stranded. Take the gps off the car and throw it in the river, or better yet get some sticky tape and put it up under the bottom of a tractor trailer's trailer! Don't let Drivetime scam you out of $15,000.00 like they did us! Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to expose Drivetime for what they are, and hopefully prevent anyone else from falling victim to their scams.

I've had my car 2.5 years and still owe 4 more I will never get put of the hole. My husband bought a 2009 Tundra and tires went bad. They said they were illegal at the tire shop over 10 years old how does that happen . Know my exhaust broke in half on my car. The cars are not safe and they dont cover much on the expensive extended warranty

When me and my wife first went to drivetime everyone was so friendly, we drove off with a 04 dodge caravan...we were happy with the purchase and payed our bi-weekly payments on time for over 2 years, we were told that after paying on time payments for a year we could upgrade to newer vehicle, so we go into the office with hopes of getting a different vehicle(maybe something smaller) to save on gas. They refused and wanted us to buy another vehicle on top of the one we already had, HELLO! we were trying to save money!!

Anyways, we left dissapointed but figured oh well! Kept making on time payments for about 3 more months or so when the motor on our van blew..we called drivetime to see if there was something they could do to keep us on the road being this was our only vehicle. They refused to help us. After almost three years of being loyal customers we get the shaft! The van is still sitting in our yard after we told them to come pick it up a month ago. So sad that such a big company would rather let go of good honest customers instead of helping them.

They took $1200 plus $460+ a month for a 10 year old car with 120,000 + miles on it (yes I take responsibility for driving off the lot with it but I was told I could trade it in no problem; never mentioned ANOTHER DOWNPAYMENT). When I was 5 days late because 1. my dad had a stroke and I was dealing with it 2.) I was locked in a jury situation for 10+ hours a day THEY TOOK MY CAR.

I had made partial payments at 10 pm at night which amounted to the total that made my account current they said "you made partial payments" ; I did this because I was locked in a room all day and it was what I had on me. They lied from the very beginning and want $500 at every turn to 1, change payment dates if you change jobs or 2.) trade in your car. I got THREATENED by the repo company and they stole a gift card out of my purse to the tune of $500 (I filed a police report).

And they said because I "wasn't cooperative" during the whole repo experience they wanted to part ways and wouldn't allow me to get my car back. On top of that the repo company said they "were being nice" giving me my purse back and my medication. They kept thousands of dollars of work related material & my android phone. If you don't believe me and think I'm sour because you think I didn't pay my bill I will tell you I have paid off 10 cars with no problems EVER. I can prove it and I invite you to contact me so that I can show you proof. THIS COMPANY IS A SCAM!!!!!

14 months ago our family decided to get a 2nd vehicle for the family. Within a month of getting the vehicle at Drivetime we had to take it to a dodge dealership to replace the water pump. The doors stopped locking, the gas guage works when it wants and just last week we had to replace a belt after hearing a massive noise that mimicked a gun blast. It was scary and it left debris in the parking lot we were leaving..

After putting close to 2000 into this vehicle, today, we had the scariest incident of all happen while driving. There was a major gas leak and the car began to smoke. We had to call the fire department to be sure it was not about to explode or catch fire. They disconnected the battery to prevent any electrical charge to the engine that could cause a potential fire.

I am at my witts end. We have 4,young children and jobs of course which require us to drive to them. We cannot afford to travel in such unsafe or potentially deadly circumstances. After contacting Drivetime to see what they can do as far as getting into a different vehicle that is safe, we were not helped and feel as though our only option is to abandon it at the Drivetime we purchased it. This is not the first time I have heard complaints about Drivetime. But, it is my first negative run in with them and we need help!!!

People do not go to them for a family vehicle or any vehicle at all. This is scary and such a waste of money! I am wanting to throw in the towel on this!

Drive Time

Florida Avenue Tampa Florida Branch

Leased me a Car that was supposedly based on their deseiving commercials checked for quality and had to pass I dont know how many points of check before leasing. A week later the car never turned on and it ended up been that the battery was old and never replaced to be sold. Called the dealer since it was a week after I got it and it was supposed to have been check before they even sold it and when I called they told me that if I didnt want it I could bring it right back, and return it and that I would Lose my 1300 I gave as a down payment.

Just a week after the purchase I had to Pay for new battery 128.00 dollars, it has been 6 weeks since I purchased the car and the car is falling apart and they told me I had a deductible to fix what ever it was, but it turns out to be I have to pay a deductible of 100 just to have it checkd and then to tell me nothing is covered.

They never did the multi inspection before the sale or they just ignored the damages to have the sucker who was going to lease it pay for the pre leased damages. When called the dealer they were very different than when they were trying to sale me, before when they were trying to sale the car they were so very helful and super nice, they offer coffee water and you fall in to the great desvice misleading, and they end up rpeparing you to ripp you off.

ir demeanor changed to the aggressive approach when I called within a week to please issue a new battery and the manager told me to bring the car back if I didnt like it, that they would sale it again in a HEART BEAT AND I WOULD LOSE THE DOWN PAYMENT. In other words I rented a car a month ago and I am already responsible to mechanical issues, that has not been generated by 3000 miles of usage but for 7 years of usage and they never did any type of full inspection as they claime in their site , because if not they would have seen all of these damages before I gotleased it or even worse they ingore the damages waiting for the sucker who was going to lease it to pay for the. The ONLY reason why I bought the car with them was fully believing that the cards were fully checked but in exchange they deceivingly announce in their site they do a RIGOROUS checks that if done, I would not have a car that I leased a month ago and is falling apart. Also I was lied to because they tell you is 100deductible, NOOOO is a 100 to even have it checked to tell you they dont cover what you are claiming.

DONT BELIEVE IN THEIR FULL INSPECTION BECAUSE IS PROVEN THAT , THAT IS A LIE

DONT BELIEVE ON THE DEDUCTIBLE, THEY WILL CHARGE A 100 JUST TO CHECK IT AND TELL YOU THAT IS A BELT THAT YOU HAVE TO REPLACE ON YOUR OWN PLAND PAY FOR EVEN THOUGH THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO MAKE THIS FUUL CHECK BEFORE AND ALL OF THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN DONE BEFORE LEASING

DONT BELIEVE IN THE KINDNESS OR PROFESSIONALISM OF THE SALES PEOPLE WHO ADVISED ME WITH A PRETTY SARCASTIC SMILE, TELLING ME TO TURN IT IN , IF I DIDNT LIKE IT THAT THEY WOULD SALE IT AGAIN IN A HEART BEAT, AND SMILED WHEN DELIVEING THE NEWS THAT I WOULD LOSE THE 1300 I GAVE AMONTH AGO WHEN PURCHASED THE CAR. YES I WILL PAY FOR THE DAMAGES BUT THIS REVIEW AND A COPY OF THIS COMPLAINT WILL BE EVERY WHERE EVERY MONTH IN GOOGLE AND EVERY REVIEW SITE I CAN.

SPEAK CLEARLY AND STOP UNETHICAL PRACTICES . Tampa Nationwide.

I had gotten a Suzuki reno from DRIVETIME on November 29.2013 I needed something fast and affordable. Which they gave me I had asked for the Vargas which looked good. I started having problems with the transmission on December 28 I didn't have the car for a month!.

I took it in January and was told it will get fixed. So I took it into the shop they had given me. That shop didn't find anything wrong after a few days in the shop. I paid my deductable and drove home, a month an a half later march.

It broke down on me while driving in a traffic jam. Turns out a pulley in the car completely broke. I had to spend almost 400$ to get it towed and I was also told I would be getting refunded not even half of the 400$ I spent. So I took it to a Suzuki shop and was wold it was 3,500$ to fix on top of that drivetime wanted me to keep paying 200$ for my car keep in mind I had to spend 400$ already on just TOWING. I then called drivetime and asked to back my payments due to my car being the shop and they said sure will do that as soon as you fix the car.

In November when I was talking to a sales rep. I was told I would be getting a refund asap as long as I have my receipts. I was also told I had a 100,000miles Powertrain warrenty. S I called aeverex warrenty and thier answer was speak to drivetime. so now at this time I'm being tossed around and getting the run around by drivetime, warrenty company and American Suzuki. Last week I had to voluntarily REPO the Suzuki reno because I couldn't afford the 3,500$ on top of that payment 400$ for drivetime.

So basically I was sold a car and given a fake carfax report, false warranty information and ripped off for my money. Suzuki had given me the correct carfax and turns out the parts and pieces I took it in for had been replaced or damaged in the early years of the car and first owners. I would like to tell everyone reading my story that drivetime is not the place Togo for a cheap affordable car or truck.
