I agree with the first answer. I also grew up in East Texas, not too far from Tyler. Prices are btteer, people are friendly and the pace of life is so much btteer away from the big city.I moved to Arlington at the age of 18 and then to Ft. Worth. I hated it. The area is very nice, but I missed East Texas and moved back home after less than a year in the Big City I didn't have children back then, but any time you get closer to a major city, the school systems aren't the same. I prefer smaller city schools. Also, the crime rate in the Metroplex, as the Dallas/Ft. Worth area is called, is very high.I am sorry I can't give you a good rating for the Metroplex, but East Texas would be a btteer bet all the way around for you and your family; Safer, btteer schools and not as expensive.
