We bought a 2007 GTI on monday september 22. The salesperson assured my the car was in good running condition and that it had been inspected by their mechanic. I was also told the car comes with a 1 year warranty that covers the drivetrain and oil changes etc.
Well on September 23rd the check engine light came on. I immediately called them to find out how to fix it. Well the owner was not in and he would have to call me back. He never did so I called the warranty company which informed me that the warranty does not kick in for 32 days. I took the car to my mechanic and found out it had a misfire code. The the #2 spark plug was bad, The #2 injector was bad and the valves were shot and the engine has a massive amount of carbon build up which would have been easily identified by a mechanic since it had multiple misfire codes in the first day I had it. It needs a complete valve job and the turbo was also leaking.
Not sure how they masked that problem but the CEL had obviously been reset. They have now given me the run around for 1 week with no returned phone calls by the owner who is mysteriously never in! I would never buy anything from these guys and warn you to stay away!! I made a mistake and will never buy from a small car lot like this again. When I told them I would have to write a bad review they threatened me and said I would be sorry if I did so!! I have now spent over $800 trying to fix the problem.
I have now found out that the warranty company (Gold Standard Automaotive Network 801-963-GOLD) will not cover any of it even though the warranty says it covers valves wich need to be replaced. I feel like I was totally ripped of and they are hiding behind the "as is " clause even though they were completely lying about the condition of the car. the total work will cost over $3600.00 dollars on a 10,000 dollar car!!
