SCAMMMM ALERT!!!

If this was generated through a third party marketing web purchase. It may even be that someone else ordered something that was shipped to you, under your name and address billed to their credit card. You should absolutely call and make sure that the account is cancelled so that no one gets billed.

Watch out for any USPS mail you receive from "eBook Lifestyle" (ebooklifestyle.com)!! I received their letter 09/18/14 and they claim I signed up for their on-line e-book store but I definitely DID NOT. I don't even own a device I could download an e-book on!!

What scared me most is that they said, "We will debit your account $24.95 each month on your credit card, ending in XXXX (the correct last 4 digits of the only credit card I have) starting 10/13/14..."

I don't see where it's an offer that I can opt out of and if I do nothing they claim my account will be charged. They said I could call their 1-877 number to cancel but they were closed for the day (I'll try again earlier in the day).

When I entered their website, I didn't readily see where I could cancel the membership. I did try e-mailing in their customer service area to tell them my desire to cancel but it's too soon to know if they will respond. I also hope they don't actually know my entire credit card number (and may be just bluffing in knowing the last 4 digits) because I don't want to have to close it down...too many auto payments coming out of it.

Such a hassle to deal with a mess like this... I just pray things don't get any worse!! :-(

I waited to see if they actually had my entire credit card #. They did. Charge for $24.95 went through last week. I will cancel my credit card today.

A letter came in mail informing me i had joined an online book club. Only reason i didn't throw it away was that they had valid last 4 digits of my credit card. Thank you, i am very grateful this was already reported by someone. My card had several unauthorused charges on it, all internet "sales" and i was able to cancel the card and get charges reversed. Everyone needs to check your card if you get this letter.

the card they had in the letter was a card reported for fraud over 6 months ago

obviously these scammers pass stolen cards around to each other

Ebooklifestyle very helpful

My mother received a letter so I called and spoke with a representative named Tammy. She was very helpful and explained how third party marketing is the new wave of the future and is how many companies are dealing with all the new laws and regulations against telemarketers. So basically you are making a purchase, you give your bill to and ship to address and payment option, that is how they get the information......we provide it to them during the time of a purchase, then we check a box or leave a box checked opting into this program and from there it's automatic enrollment with a letter that gets automatically generated. The letter gives you a 30 day trial period, yup thirty days to cancel before we are billed. Seriously...I don't agree with the practice but I don't believe a company that is going to scam you sends a letter first telling you they are going to scam you.

It is a scam

It is illegal for one company to give credit card data to another company. Businesses sell consumers contact info regularly, however businesses cannot share or sell credit card info.

I too, received the letter on and did call the company, I did get a voice mail, so i followed the instructions. I left my name, number and password and they responded within 10 minutes!! I spoke to a fantastic representative named Lisa, who apologized for not being able to take the call live as she was on another call. She asked me for the password as indicated on the letter and she gave me a cancellation number for my account right away.

Lisa also mentioned that the letter was generated though a purchase I may have done online, so just to be careful and make sure to uncheck any boxes when making purchases online. The letter that was sent was automated through 3rd party marketing, so that is good to know. Good advice!

SCAMMMM ALERT!!!

They provide, in the letter sent me, a last 4 digit of a credit card card I don't have. It might be a replaced credit card. I don't know. I was googling to log in on their page with id and pass provided in the letter. But google show a full page of scam and fraud issues. Well, in my case, I think I should do nothing, right?
