Edison Nation, LLC Reviews

  • Apr 24, 2015

This is to present a complaint against a company located in Charlotte, NC, engaging in fraud and deception. The name of the company is "Edison nation, LLC" and it is located at 520 Elliot Street, Charlotte, NC 28202. The telephone number is (704) 369-7301. Its CEO its Louis Foreman whose e-mail address is [email protected]. The website is www.edisonnation.com

Edison Nation is in the business of Invention Development. Inventors submit ideas to pre-defined searches for a fee of $25, or $20 for “Insiders”. Insiders membership is $9.25 per month.

The searches are to match requirements by manufactures (i.e. Clorox) and Retailers (i.e. Bed, Bath & Beyond). Insiders have the right to resubmit to other suitable searches at no extra cost.

There is also a periodical (every 18 months or so) search for the TV show “Everyday Edisons” which is produced by Edison Nation and airs on PBS. PBS is the only reason that I took Edison Nation seriously. The submissions are examined by an 8 stage “dashboard”. Each stage entails two possibilities: Pass or Fail. When a submission passes the 8th stage, also called a Green 8 or G8, the product has been selected by the sponsor to be brought to market.

The reward is 20 years of royalties split in equal parts with Edison Nation and a $2500 advance towards those royalties.

I earned six Green 8’s. Six. And I was defrauded the six times. No, it is not like they happened one-by-one and I kept coming for more.

I had three simultaneous selections for the third season of Everyday Edisons TV show (3 different TrickStick™ products), that were not brought to market and featured on the show, as per the agreements. I found out about this over two years later when the third season finished airing and my product was not there. The promised investment in product development for the TV show is $300,000 to $500,000 plus an average of 1,700 man-hours. Edison Nation caused me to lose my intellectual property rights as it failed to file for 2 patents and revive 1 patent for these products, and as per agreement.

Around the same time, I called Edison Nation to inquire about my “Warmware™” submission which had been selected by Westpoint about a year earlier, and I was told then that the product would not be commercialized, in violation of the agreement. If I don’t call, I would have never find out.

I was extremely upset about these 4 agreement violations and a number of other disappointments by Edison Nation. I demanded explanations and corrections. All I received was an invitation (at my expense) to go to Charlotte, NC and discuss the issues with Louis Foreman. In Charlotte, Louis Foreman, the CEO of Edison Nation assured me that nothing like hat would ever happen again. To forget about those experiences.

At this point I already had my “Presini Grill™” already selected as a G8 to be brought to market for ASOTV (As Seen On TV) searches TWO (2) times, so I decided to trust Mr. Foreman again and wait to finally profit from my money, my time spent (over 30 hours per project) and my trust. For nothing. Almost two year later I received an e-mail from Edison Nation’s attorney telling me that my “Pressini Grill™” selected two times to be brought to market and entitled to 20 years of royalties, among other earnings, was also another (double) instance of fraud.

I naturally went to the Edison Nation forums, and related my experiences, in full compliance of the Forum rules. After I did this, Rich Holmes, Edison Nation’s General Counsel closed my in-good standing Insider account instantly violating 245 agreements for 245 submissions I had entitled to recurrent submission at no extra charge as per he terms of the “Insider” program.

Mr. Holmes engaged in professional misconduct violating NC Bar Association Rule 3.4, as he removed all the evidentiary items related to my case, including 245 written and illustrated descriptions, a large number of videos, and prior art searches.

All of this is fully documented. Enclosed, please see partial documentation.

A corrupt arbitration procedure ruled in favor of Edison Nation. I already filed a complaint against the attorneys acting as arbitrators before the AAA, and the NC Bar Association. Please, see attached.

I attest under penalty of perjury that all the above statements are true and correct to the best of my knowledge and belief.
