I have gotten a letter and several phone calls. what do they want? My husband had no estate, no insurance.

Rather than sending a letter - which would detail any outstanding debt owed by my late father I received a phone call. This is not an appropriate way to collect the debt of a deceased person. Send me the details and I'll be happy to determine if, in fact, there was a debt. A phone call could come from anyone and the person on the line could say anything. You must back up your collection with facts: copy of debt owed. copy of any signed document by my late father. I handled my fathers' finances for the past several years and know that he owed nothing. Not one penny to anyone. He owned his house and the only bills he ever received (for 2 years that I lived with him) were utilities and insurance. His auto and home insurance were paid for one year, they are not due until February of 2016. All utilities are now in the Estate of .... and not his name-they are mailed to me the executor of his estate. Does this company just troll through the classifieds to see if they can scare money out of people who lost a loved one? I can understand how their inability to use the mail and doe things the appropriate way could cause concern to anyone that doesn't know of their loved one's finances. Send me something that proves you are owed this money. Don't make a phone call. That's ridiculous - I'll just block you.

My Father Passed away in Novenber 2014, my mother has been gone 25 years. So i am the last surviving memeber of the family. After my fathers death, i called every business he done business with, insurance, Social Security, Pension and Last TCM bank. The lady i spoke with told me to shred his credit card, which i did, and her exact word to me were, "i am very sorry for your loss. please be advised your father had a zero balance on his card" I said ok and hung up, thought everything was taken care of. So my father had a couple of things that i needed to get into my name so i hired a attorney, when on the 27 of March i recieved a letter from this "Estate Information Services" saying that have placed a "claim against the estate" for 241.80. I have took care of everything of my dads, from paying everyone that needed to be paid. I had no idea he had a balance on his card. Instead of those horrible people trying to contact me by mail or telephone, they stake a claim against my dads estate..my dad didnt have very much, but still, after me calling them myself and reporting that my father had passed away, everything they asked me i answered honestly and they have used all that information against me. Its truly sad how some low life companies will try and go after a deceased persons things, when the family is still grieving.
