Comes across as a genuinely nice guy but 5 months after I mailed a sizable check for flooring, I have finally had enough of his lack of communication and runarounds and have requested a full refund plus damages. I was told in February 4-6 weeks for the floor. After hearing nothing for 4 weeks I began to query about the status. After weeks of waiting and non-answers, he tells me that the mill he uses is shutting down but he is going to open his own. It will be up and running in a few weeks and I'm the first order up. I check in every 7-10 days with few responses. Finally, after 6 weeks he says he is ready but that we shouldn't order our wood so early so it doesn't sit around too long as it could bow. I work through all the time frames for cutting the wood, shipping and acclimatizing and I have to tell him that I should tell him 16 days out from when we need it. A few weeks later it's time and, once again, I am following up with him after not hearing from him for a week. I figured I'd get some sort of update as he is milling thousands of feet of wood. At the point he should be shipping the wood he responds to my update request and says my order is almost done but offers no specifics. Having heard that before, I decided to do more research into Alec browne, browne & associates and extraordinary floors. I found other recent complaints from others having the exact same problem. This was a week ago and he is once again, not returning phone calls or emails. Even the most die hard Vegas fan should not take chances on this man. Shame on me for sending payment in full and choosing to believe him through all of the red flags. There's a word for these kind of people: thieves. Use him at your own risk. Alec - please feel free to prove me wrong. I would love to come back here and amend this complaint saying that you made good on your word.

Alec Browne did not give us the wood. We filed with the Better Business Bureau, and North Carolina Consumer Protection. The Consumer Protection received 5 complaints about this man. They wrote him a few letters and when he did not comply they gave up. Then I filed criminal charges with Aaron Thompson of the Brevard police department. I told him I had filed with the Florida (my home state) Consumer Protection Assocation. He called the Florida Protection Association and told them to back off the case, just when I was about to get my money back.
Then I went to small claims court. The sheriff is supposed to help me get my money back. Instead he blocked me every step of the way. I tried to put a bank levy on his account and the only person that knew about it was the sheriff and myself. Well the money got pulled out right before the levy went into affect. I filed a second levy and the money got pulled out again right before the levy went into affect. The bank refuses to give me his bank records. Aaron Thompson can get it, but will not give me the information.
My theory is the whole town is on the take. The hotels and restaurants make money from small claims victims. In addition the courts make money from all the filing fees. The sheriff gets to spend time with his friend Alec Browne and nobody is the wiser.
