I placed an order directly with the store by telephone during a Midsummer sale of 15% off. In addition, I was promised price matching with another store also soecializing in Scandinavian goods.
So first the other store's specific prices discussed & agreed to in exact numbers prices price would be matched, then the 15% Fjorn Midsummer sale 15% would additionally be subtracted from that number. I was told that on that basis my order totalled $580.
Suddenly I received a bill for $790. The owner, Sigurd, who had directly made this promise to me by phone (in addition to the original clerk, Bailey, so TWO people at the store had confirmed this deal), apparently afterwards changed his mind and without contacting or informing me had NOT added the additional 15% Midsummer sale discount.
Luckily I happened to call for another reason, and asked them to send my order information via email, which is when I discovered they had fraudulently revised their promise/our shopping contract and charged me another $200 or so. I immediately called back and asked for an explanation and Sigurd just stated he would no longer honor our deal. He also threatened when I said I wanted to cancel my order that he had already placed the order, as if I could not get out of it. Since he was reported previously for refusing a refund for an order, he seemed on a path to do the exact same thing again, only on top of the foundation of an explicit broken contract.
When I persisted in requiring him: a) to honor the agreed upon price; and b) otherwise cancel my order, he threw several rude temper tantrums and finally, thankfully, told me he would cancel my order and I "should shop elsewhere," which I immediately and happily did, at the other soecialty store whose prices he promised to match and add his own sale.
I file this report to WARN ANYONE ELSE who might be seduced into shopping at Fjorn Scandinavian/Fjorn by the Seas in Carmel, CA to AVOID this unscrupulous store and SHOP ELSEWHERE!
