August of 2014 I purchased a portable dishwasher< GE Model, GSC3500D35WW. We used it for several months from time to time finding dishes on the top rack not getting cleaned. It took some time to identify this since there was differences in the kind and amount of residue that needed washed off of dinnerware. Eventually I called their service department as it became clear that there was something wrong with the unit that with a great deal of consistence, 50% or more dishes on the top rack weren’t getting cleaned. The department you call for service offered several suggestions to remedy the problem like check water pressure and temperature of the water, none of which helped. After about two months of chasing their suggestions I asked for a service call. When the service man came out, he diagnosed the problem as the pipe that delivers water to the top rack didn’t match up with the receptacle it was supposed to hit, so he ordered a new sprayer unit and top rack and asked me to call when the parts arrived.

I called him back and he compared the new top rack with the existing rack and since they were the same, he took the rack and said he would get back to me. A month and a half later I called looking for the serviceman and there was no record of him returning so they started a new call. When I asked what happened to the prior serviceman they said when he came back, he canceled any further action on my complaint and because it was over a month ago, they had no more information to give me.

Well at this point I’m not very happy and it showed as I talked to the service schedulers. This is when they told me of a corporate policy that if I say anything in the presence of their serviceman that he doesn’t like, he will leave and GE will no longer service my equipment even if it’s under warranty.

So a second serviceman came out when the reorder of the parts (we already know won’t fix it) came in. he replaced the parts and left which is all the scheduling people said he would do even though we knew it wouldn’t fix anything, again dirty dishes. Another service call and the guy said the reason the dishes don’t clean on the top rack is that there is no sprayer under that rack, they depend on water from the sprayer under the bottom rack to clean the top rack. I asked how they expect the spray to get through pots and pans or a heavy load on the bottom and he said it was a problem.

Now having the testimony of their serviceman that not having a sprayer under the top rack was a problem the service department insisted on having another serviceman come out to fix it since the issues wasn’t closed out. So I ran a load the night before with a typical load on the first rack and when the serviceman opened the front and looked at what was in it and where, he closed the dishwasher and said he can’t help me and left.

I called GE Service and told them that there was clearly a serious design flaw and asked how they could possible expect dishes on the top rack to get cleaned from under the bottom rack. They told me to consult the Owners Manuel and see the loading instructions which I suppose tells you, you can’t load pots and pans on the bottom rack which means you can’t wash pots and pans as there isn’t enough room on the top rack to fit a pot. Since the machine has a Pot Scrubber cycle, I assume they are at least giving the illusion you can wash pots and pans but apparently that’s not true.

I insisted they take the machine back as I did consult my attorney about my $600.00 dishwasher that doesn’t clean dishes and there was no defense for their inadequately engineered appliance and a refund was the least that could be expected with the documentation of another appliance repair shop. GE’s solution was that they would generously offer me a discount on another appliance. This means I spent $600.00 on a dishwasher that doesn’t wash dishes and get to grace GE with another purchase and have two dishwashers. You’ve got to be kidding me.

This dishwasher is so poorly designed, I can’t believe they sell it let alone defend that piece of junk. Fortunately I bought it at Lowe’s and they agreed to take it back and replace it with a Whirlpool portable that has a top sprayer. Now that’s how to satisfy customers.

I thought it a weak defense being told to read the instructions on how to load the machine. I’ve successfully used dishwashers now for more than 40 years and I’ve never heard of one that you can’t put pots and pans in. I think if that’s an issue, it ought to be on the sign in the showroom. “You can’t wash pots and pans along with anything on the top rack”.

That was the very last GE purchase I’ll ever make, especially since a serviceman can blackball you and decline to service your equipment even if under warranty. I wasted day’s responding to GE’s requests to keep sending servicemen to my residence in an attempt to have them get water to spray through pots and pans to clean dishes on the top rack. They just wouldn’t admit, like the service man did, that the dishwasher wont clean dishes on the top rack.

I bought GE front loading washer GFWN1100L1WW. This machine is junk. Within a couple of years serious and expensive problems. I stupidly called GE service guy "with over 20 years" who came and said it was a plumbing problem. I ended up paying a plumber $200 for a service call - not the problem. GE guy came back out - this time said it was an eletrical problem. Hired an eletrician who said it was not an electrical problem. Then GE guy came out out (not happy) to change the motor (which apparently others are having problems with) and the door mechanism. It worked but it then shaked. I gave up - happy to not be dealing with him. Later realized he scratched my wood floors! Now the machine is shaking so much that it is bothering the neighbor. I called GE and they were no help. I'd be embarassed to peddle such a bad product! Now I am looking to buy yet another machine. Because I was stupid to think stacking was a good idea at the time - I am now stuck buying the same crap washer or tossing both appliances - which is what I am going to do - and go for a LG...any brand but GE - because they sell LEMONS and they know it.

General Electric is 'junk'! They say one thing and do another, when they feel like it! Bought a 'New' washing machine on the 2nd of Feb., had to wait for it to be delivered by the 10th. Got it but a part was missing! I called them on the 10th and told them of this, was told they'd send it to me.

I called today 16th of Feb. and get told they'll ship it either tomorrow or the next day! Was treated like sh* by the idiot that l talked to today. He spoke to me like l had bought it secondhand and that l was bothering him on his lunchbreak!

I am so mad that l can't use capital letters while writing this! (at least not ALL capitals!) To me General Electric will have to do alot of 'clean house' before l buy another product of theirs! 'Clean-house' as in get rid of the idiots that take our calls and make sure all appliances are complete!

This waiting around for a part that was supposed to be in it for over 2 weeks is 'Bullsh*'! So, to just let G.E. know how l feel ...... NOT HAPPY!!!! (and won't buy or tell people to buy their crap, either!)

Purchased GE profile refrigerator from Home Depot, January of 2007. just after the warranty ran out the refrigerator started having problems keeping temperature, maybe it even quit, and a little plastic part in the door had broken, which kept the door from sealing properly. i called a local repairman, who works on GE's, to come out-we are rural. he fixed the problem with the temp flucuations-i'm unsure what he did exactly, i can't remember. he said he had to find the part# for the plastic part in the door, and would call me back when he had it and come out to repair it. well, he never called-never came back. my husband went online and found out that you could not just buy the little plastic hinge that broke-you had to replace the whole door, costing over 200 dollars! i just stared tying a rope around the door handles to try and keep it closed. obviously that didn't always do the trick, so i'll bet the frige worked harder than it should have.

last night we had a power outage and although the power came back on about 5 or 6 hours later and so too, the lights in my frige, but it was silent-NOT WORKING! i transferred the food from it and the bottom draw freezer to my 20 year old kenmore STILL working in the shed out front and found my paperwork for it. called GE, to vent-as i really didn't know if i could or should repair it! they have offered me two ways to resolve- one- i can call a repairman and get reimbursed for the parts he must order, or two- i can purchase another profile, which retails for 2300 dollars now, she said, for a discount-out the door, old one hauled away, new one installed for 1,841.82. i was surprised, since i did not think they would do anything for me this far out of warranty. but i am unsure if this will do me any good if i just get the problems everyone seems to be having with this model and others. also, i don't really have the cash for this at this moment anyway. i've left a message asking if i could do it with my home depot credit card, but that was today, so i should hear back tommorow, i suppose. i'm torn. unsure if i wouldn't be better off buying another brand altogether. i will have to check online and see if other companies sell better refrigerators.

The microwave has a hidden fuse in a case that has special sheet metal screws holding the cover on to prevent the homeowner from simply replacing the burnt-out fuse. This requires the homeowner to take the unit down to a GE Repair Ctr where our credit cards are accepted to replace a simple fuse.

Thus another way fro GE to make more money off of the unsuspecting customer.

What if the customer is a weak or an infirmed person who can't even carry the unit to their car? Or, what if they don't have a car or lives too far away?

All this expense and trouble could have been avoided by simply installing a $1 fuse holder on the back panel giving the customer easy access to the fuse. I defeated the special screws and removed the case cover and replaced the fuse; it now works. For this i was supposed to have to take it to a GE ctr and be charged a min fee of what, $80? there is plenty of room for a back panel fuse holder. Image available.

The second microwave fault is the blistering of the inside seal on the door window. GE Project manager says that is just cosmetic, But Don't Remove it! Well, repeated use of the unit will undoubtedly cause the blister to increase in size from its 5.5" x 1" and make it more brittle leading to breaking and possibly letting microwaves thru into the room. Why would any GE customer want a cosmetic sore sight or a potential radiation problem in the house? Images available.

The GE Customer Service and Tech Support were of no help so i sent off a msg to GE leaders and my plea got kicked up to the Project Manager who doesn't know what GE should do, if anything:

GE appliances SUCK!!!

Do NOT buy GE appliances!!! They break down just soon after one-year warrantee is out; and GE Care technicians are not available for the repair, at lease a week, leaving consumer holding a lemon appliance and cannot use it.

We bought a GE new eclectic range, after just a year the oven stopped working – can't turn on, showing a "f0" error. So I called GE Care but their technician cannot come within 7 days and it will take another 3-5 days to order the parts, which means I have no oven to cook for my family for 10 days; AND it also means that GE appliances break down so often and so much that there is a long waiting period for scheduling their technicians.

Very disappointed with GE appliances and GE Care, I had to hire a local appliance repairman to fix the oven. When I reached out to GE Consumer Relations, she just said: "There is nothing I can do."

I will NEVER buy GE again. Their products have no quality. Their repair services are not available, slow and long-waiting. Their consumer relations don't care.

The problem I had with GE is something I see other company's doing and it needs to be stopped and I will explain. What I experienced happened back in 2007 but I'll gladly bet a dounut the practice still goes on. I bought a General Electric over the range Microwave/Exhaust Hood that I have a hunch is manufactured by the same company who manufactures Kenmore or any major corporate name. My product had General Electrics name on it and I say if this problem is with a subcontractor GE needs to deal with it. The problem I had is with a 110volt dual squrrel cage blower for the units exhaust capabilities. Wonderful 110volt dual shaft electric motor, it's what is connected to the motor shafts that is obviously planned obsolescence plastic squirrel cages, exhausting anything above a cooktop which is hot so it's my guess the plastic is the weakest part of that whole blower motor assembly. I also know this to be true because I partially broke one of the plastic squirrel cages while installing the unit. The blower motor assembly has a korean company name on it and I figured that plastic squirrel cage can't be more than $10.00 and I know damn right well they have bins of the left side or the right side filled with these squirrel cages. I had to purchase the whole exhaust motor assembly. I'm left with a brand new exhaust assembly I have no use for unless it's mounted inside this kitchen appliance and eventually made it's way to a landfill near you, all for someone to make more money. The resources this planet has are finite and we already have a problem with what to do with our garbage. I immediately sent a letter to the then CEO of General Electric Jack Welch asking him if he replaces his automobile when it needs spark plugs. I received a letter back from an assistant stating the unit should still be under warranty. This is the mindset of people who are more concerned with the bottom line than they are concerned with their destruction of the earth. I'm sick of people fighting over who created this earth when our focus needs to be on who is destroying it, and charging us to do it.
