I went to my dentist (third since I started at the local branch of Great Expressions (GE), inorder to check a sore inside my mouth. He sent me to the corporate headquarters for further evaluation. He stated that I need an Endodontist, when I needed a Periodontist When I got there, the records nor X-rey was sent so they had to X-ray the site (X-rays are cumulative, and gave me special full mouth X-ray for their records.
The doctor looked at mt 'sore' and stated that I had some bone loss and it appears to be slightly infected. First, he stated 2 teeth above should be removed, then one tooth, then he said we may be able to save the teeth (They were not loose at the time). He was very heavy handed and performed a gum depth chart (single, usually three) of each teeth. There was no discussion, he just asked me if I wanted a deep cleaning there or at my regular dental office.
I stated at my regular office. All information would be sent and they would set up an appointment. I was never called and when I contacted the office of my dentist, I was told no records were sent. After a poor discussion with a new office manager, who kep telling me I had a cleaning in April, etc. I told her that my record should state, and it did, that I was sent to their general professional off for a secondary opinion.
Finally she contacted the professional office and they said the doctor was wrong. The deep cleaning had to be performed by their hygienists. Nobody contacted me. I decided that I want to go to another dentist. Three agreed that deep cleaning is within the scope of any regular hygenist. I contacted GE and they stated that I have to fill out a form for copies of my records, etc. When I went to my dental office, I was told that I would have to pay $25 for any and all records, films, etc. (Which I already paid for.)
I never had to pay of records or copies of my records, notably when I moved out of states. Only once, I dentist who wanted to charge me. I went to court and was awarded my records (Copies) and compenstion, court costs...
