Hope Animal Rescue Reviews

Looking for a rescue dog and came across an adorable looking puppy poodle at Hope Animal Rescue in NJ on adoptapet.com. I did a little research on the organization and came to discover that they seemed to have questionable practices, including getting "unfit for sale" and sick puppies from puppy mills and are disguising themselves as a rescue organization when in fact, they are not. I didn't want to believe everything I read on the internet so, my family (including my 18 month old son) took the 2 hour drive to the Adoption Day in NJ.

My husband attempted to contact the organizations a few times during the week, because we did have some deal breaker questions to ask and didn't want to make the trip if they didn't answer these questions to our liking. No one ever called us back. This should have been our first clue.

We went to the adoption event anyway and the poodle was literally 2lbs and you can tell immediately she was sick, she barely moved when we put her on the floor, when we first saw her she was just lying in a cage and we were told she had to be removed from the other dogs because they were picking on her.

I asked about all this and was told she had a bad hind leg (which was never revealed to us until this moment). We were told there were no refunds or returns if we took her to our vet and the vet told us it was more than just a bad hind leg. The woman then informed me that due to her weight the puppy was problem going to be required to spend overnight time at the vet. We left without a puppy.

I'm writing this, not because of my family, it was a long trip, but we were fine and it was just another road trip for us. I'm writing this because this sick little dog haunts me and she should be in the hands of a vet or a real organization that will, in fact, take care of the things that are wrong with her. I fear she will not make it in the hands of the wrong person adopting her or with these people who do not care about her at all.

Do not adopt from these people, they are not a legit organization and they need to be shut down.
