In the 2 bills we received from Horry Electric Coop we were charged 13.8 cents and 12.7 cents per kilowatt hr since we moved to Blackmoor in Murrells Inlet, SC. Prior to the move in Surfside Beach, since 2008, we were charged 8.7 cents per kilo/hr. This is an increase of 58.6% and 46% respectively over Santee Cooper rates. Homeowners beware, realtors warn your clients to purchase out of Horry Electric Coop district.
The balance sheet of Horry Electric Coop published in their expensive magazine to customers show monies (their phrase) "We Had Left" of $6,990,892. Refund this to customers. Even more shocking ONLY 64% of expenses go to purchase wholesale power. Of the remaining 36%, 20% is delegated for operating maintenance and general expenses. High salaries?? kickbacks??
