Hughes Network Systems, LLC Reviews

We pay 130.00 a month for 20gb of data for 30 days and they tell you you have used it in around 5 days. They then tell you you have to buy their tokens to last the rest of the month. If you keep track of the data you are using, using their website system, you can see they are taking dating when you are not home or on the internet.

When you call to complain you cannot talk to anyone you can understand as they send you overseas but when you want to subscribe to hughnesnet they are all americans. If you question their practices, all of a sudden all your data allowance disappears.

We have a small child and there is noway she can use her ipad for educational sites as we cannot afford all the tokens it would require since we already pay 130.00 for data a month we do not get to use. If they take your data for the month they will take it if you buy tokens.

When we first signed up for hughnesnet wewere told it was unlimited. Then all of a sudden the data allowance can into play along with buying the tokens.

Hughnesnet is a rip off and they are using foreigners to take your data and lie to you. I would not recommend this to my worse emeny. We are trying our best to find another internet provider. We are looking into Exede(wild blue). I have been told they don't sell tokens.

Hughes.net is just the biggest rip-off because they violate the law with bait and switch technique. They being hughes.net so called customer service tell how great there services are but failure to tell you about all the hidden charges. The do not make the mistake and get a phone with them because not only can you not hear but there are hidden charges with the phone and it is handled by another company. Then they also charge you a month in advance for services and automatically sign you up for automatic bill pay but also fail to tell about this also.

My family and I live outside of the city limits and we are very limited on what internet providers we can use, one of which is Hughes Net. We started out with Hughes Net over 2 years ago, which at the time was not Gen 4. There are 5 family members and each has their own computer.

We knew that the service was limited, but since we did not have any other good choice, we signed on withHughes Net. At the time they did have a time period in which no daily allowance was used, from 1 to 6 AM. Me and some other family members used that time to save the daily allowance for the ones who worked and could not use the free time. This worked out fairly well and though we ran out of daily allowance before the reset time, it was bearable.

Then......Hughes Net went to Gen 4 in our area, claiming how much better it would be and how much more you could do with it. What a Ripp Off! They give you with the highest plan, 20 GB of daily allowance and 20 GB of bonus allowance. The bonus allowance is for the hours of 2 to 8 AM and with 3 of us using it it dissappears very quickly. The month of May allowance was used up in about I week, both bonus and daily. So we have been nearly 3 week with very limited usage and very slow internet. With Gen 4 once the bonus time is depleated, then even if you are using the internet between 2 and 8 AM your daily allowance starts being used.

I have called and sent emails complaining to them many times being given free tokens to reset some usage which each time lasted not even 1 day. Of course was told I could buy more tokens, which once I did buy several, running my bill up too much, but learned my lesson there and will not do that again.

They gave me many lame explanations why my internet usage was dissapearing so fast. One said we were using too many uploads or downloads. Another said the our computers were using internet even when turned off with updates etc. But this is done from the get go and we have never used up internet this fast before this the month of May 2014. Another person said that there may be a virus or worm on one of our computers, but each are monitered daily by an internet protection, and I know we would know if we had one.

Each time I see a commercial about Gen 4 it makes me mad, knowing that what they say is not true, at least not for multiple compter families. If anyone knows who we could complain to about not being able to get more service providers in our area and might be successful in possibly being able to get better, I would like to know.
