On January 21, 2014 I purchased a Certified Pre-Owned, 4 door, 2010 Hyundai Accent GLS from CarMax Auto Superstore in Hickory, N.C. I was assured that this car was a very safe, reliable vehicle, with great gas mileage(yea right) Well, 7 days later, the car was totaled on Interstate 40 in Marion, N.C. in icy weather. I was traveling 40-50 mph in a 70 mph when i hit a truck that had already crashed in front of me. I tried to slow down but couldnt because the brakes LOCKED UP. I hit the truck so hard, the battery, computer, radiator, etc. exploded on impact and the car turned off immediately.

..... The seatbelt was so tight, I was severely bruised on my chest and stomach for over a week. WHEN I WRECKED, the Certified Pre-owned DEATH TRAP was suppose to have 6 AIR-BAGS and NONE of them worked when i crashed! This 2010 Hyundai Accent GLS was advertised to be equiped with 2 overhead, 2 front, and 2 side airbags and none of them deployed when i wrecked. The car was ruled a total loss but Carmax or Hyundai would not accept any blame for the faulty airbags in this car and i am still paying for a car i drove 7 days. I hit the trucke so hard, my head bounced off the steering wheel and back against the seat again. I suffered 3 torn ligaments in my neck, severe whiplash, etc. from this wreck and I will NEVER BUY ANOTHER HYUNDAI AGAIN! CarMax and Hyundai passed the blame. Carmax said that They sell cars that have previosly had less than 25% damage and that they had no Knowledge of faulty airbags in this car> Hyundai said that because i failed to decelerate/slow down is the reson why the airbags did not deploy! TOTAL BS! I requested to see a copy of the black box reading report from Hyundai and their engineering analyzer, and was told NO. Hyundai said that the black box reading was classified and privleged information for their eyes only. If it was truely my fault and they had nothing to hide, why couldnt I have a copy of the report read from my car? Do Not Ever Buy One Of These korean Death-Traps Please! BEWARE! RUN AWAY FROM HYUNDAI N CARMAX!

I am driving 2013 Genesis Coupe 2.0T Premium Package. ( I purchased 2013 around November) While I was driving around 2 am in the morning, my car was stopped on the highway more than 5 times without making any noise. I saw the oil lights and engine lights on. The next day, I called Hyundai to pick up my car and take it to the dealership where I bought my car. Service Representative person called and told me “When did you change your oil and who? Someone put too much oil and did not change the oil filter.” I bought and helped people to buy Hyundai car, so I know everybody in the dealershop, and one of my dealer and business manager told me that you would better ask the guy who is working on service department to get loaner car. So I asked him, and he gave the loaner car without problem.

While I was getting out of the shop, I called Speedee oil where I changed my oil. I went to Speedee Oil to change my first oil on the 27th of March 2014 since I bought my car. (Location 321 E Fm 1382, Cedar Hill, TX 75104(972) 291-2104) I have been there before in Cedar Hill and Arlington Location before for my car. I called and asked to Speedee “ Can I have the receipt for that I got the service? Also, are you guys using OEM filter?” and they gave me the receipt with manager’s number with answer “ We use OEM filter.” While I was figuring out, the Hyundai was waiting for the technition to take look at my car because they don’t know what’s going on. I understood because I purchased and helped my people to buy Hyundai cars. All of a sudden, I was trying to get information what’s going on because I felt like I have to learn something. According to Hyundai, it could be happened because oil. And I asked them “ If they put too much oil, there is lot of symptom like making a lot of smog, not picking up speed. Also, the car should have shown the oil lights. I called Hyundai Service Center and told him that way, and he told me the technition is taking a look at my car one more time. He told me that he would call me by Friday. I was waiting the time, and called Hyundai to see what’s going on Friday. The charged person for my car went to lunch, so I talked the other person. He told me that we ordered Engine because it has engine problem. It is not your fault even speedee oil. So they ordered New engine. I am an international person, so I sent my girlfriend who is an American to there to get the right answer. She told me “ Micheal ordered new engine and no cost and it will take 3 or 4 days to get it and another week or something to install my engine.” I was really happy because I was getting too much stress.

At the same time, I started to worry about driving the car one more time because it has history of stopping on the highway 5 times, so I was worrying what if it happened one more time. They told me that if I get new engine, it will not have any problem, so I asked them “What if? I did not know that my car is like that. I purchased new car not used and worrying that.” They did not say anything because they knew that my car was new not even 10,000 miles on it. I went to dealershop to discuss with the person who is working there (Dealer and supervisor) They told me first “ why don’t you try on to drive and if that happens one more time? Then please bring it and I can do better.” And I told them “ I don’t blame on you guys, but if you were me, would you drive that? Would you let your son driving this car? That is not clothes. If oil senor or something broken and you guys are fixing it, I would not car, but it was engine. And you know my car, I bought the new one.” Me? I have never said even if my Antena on the top was not working and loose, I did not say anything for that because they changed it. But this time, it was Engine. I don’t want to drive it anymore especially that car. I love my country car, that is why I am making people to buy, and my family bought 6 cars so far only in my family. And He tried to trade-in my car, and I was about to take it if there is no big difference even if I already lose my money. But the deal was too high, and he told me that is the only thing I can do right now. I understood.

I called to Hyundai 1-800 number. And I got connected. “ May I have help you?” and I said “ Hello, My name is Doo sxx Lxx who is driving Genesis Coupe 2.0T Premium 2013. I am calling to claim and ask few questions about my situation.” As soon as he got the word from “ complain”, his voice turned rude. I explained to him my situations, and he told me “ I can’t not give you any authorize to you to do something in dealershop. And I can not do negotiate with you. Is it the first time that your car stopped?(ß He asked me more than 3 times same questions) You can drive after they change engine. If something happens, you can contact to dealershop and make a claim.” And I said “ I like the car, that is why I bought it, but it has problem with engine which is not my fault. I don’t want to die on the highway with that car, but why do you keep saying that I have to drive more? It is new car! That means it should have less problem that I might acceptable but Engine. Is there anything that I can get better answer?” and he kept telling me about authrorized thing and trying on the car after the car is fixed or that is why we have warranty. I do understand that, but I am wondering that people might not want to drive if someone got my situations with new car. And also I don’t understand that why I have to trade in with less value. I did not buy the car to decorate or put into my garage. I bought the car to drive for my work and pleasue. But Seems like he wants me to die on the highway. I told him “ Don’t get me wrong, I am really upset because you are the one who is just turning the paper to the high person, but you kept talking about same thing and put the wrong word “negotiation” or “Trying on”. My concern is that it is not clothes. It is a car.

Especially I am Korean who is living in the U.S that is the one of reason why I am buying my Korean company car to see the future Hyundai is like Honda or Toyata in the U.S. I understand my English is not perfect that he might not understand what I meant. I was asking him “Is there any better situationa that I can get out of this problem?” but he just make me feel so bad like that I am taking advantage of it.

At that time, the guy who works there asked me “ Same thing like before?” So I said “Yes” because I used to drive Genesis coupe 2.0T. Usually, they ask me if I have to change oil not to choose wrong one for my car. I paid around 62 dollars, and left. On 23th, my car has been stopped 5 times and two lights came on for Engine and oil on the highway all of a sudden. So I called towing company, and my car was towed to Vandergriff Hyundai where I purchased the car. I explained to the people, and they checked my car. They told me “ Who changed oil? They don’t even change the filter? Also, they put too much oil. They should have changed oil filter and put right amount.” And I asked the technician “ How did you know that they did not change filter?” and the the technician told me “ The filter is our filter OEM part.” So I called to Speedee Oil to talk with manager, and he told me “ How do you prove how much we put oil and we did not change oil filter?” and I said “ Hyundai looked at my car everything, and they will write the paper work for me.” And the manager told me “ Bring it”..

Vandergriff Hyundai technician called me “ I called Techinition to take a look at your car, so I will call you by Friday” Even though I am not a mechanic person, I was wondering how the car could be like that even though it has just around 8000 miles on it, also, why I could not see the oil light if someone put too much oil. And I called to Speedee Oil to get the receipt, and they told me that they are using the OEM PART for filter and I called to Hyundai. They are saying that new technician is taking a look at my car more, and he will give me the call. Finally it was Friday on 05302014, and I called Hyundai. The technician told me that he ordered Engine and it will take 3 or 4 days to get it, and take another week to install it. And there is no cost for me because I have warranty, and it is not my fault.

I got my car back and drove it. Looks like it was fine, but after one day, the coolant is leaking when I turn on AC, and the coolant lights on that I have never had. In addition, the bar for the coolant is going to High, so I called Hyundai Road assistance and made an appointment for towing.

I have no idea why it is like that. After Changing Engine, Turbo, Gasket, the car is not a new. I think it is all Hyundai’s fault, so they have to give me new car for that. I am so much tired of getting stress the car even though I bought New.

I called today one more time to see what’s going on because the person who I talked before told me that they will contact to me within 24 ~ 48 hours, but I have not got any news.

They just told me that someone will contact me that they don’t even tell me when.

I am so frustrating now.
