In July of this year I had to move into and unfurnished apartment, although I had some furniture I did not have a dinning room table or a bedroom set...the move was costly and I had just started a new job, so I did not have the time in or the savings to go to a furniture store and purchase furniture, so I went to I-rent someone had told me they had a low downpayment and good terms. Like a lot of americans, the economy had hit me and my business fairly hard, causing me to have some financial difficulties and my credit was not the best, so I had really no other choice but to use this company. I was ok with their terms, this was a bed I had made so as they say I have to pay to price or lie in it. The first thing they did that should have sent up red flags is I went in to the store in June I choose a bedroom set that was marked down because it was previously owned but I choose a new never before slept on mattress and box springs, I also choose a dinning room table, and got carried away and choose a tv...I told them I did not need it until July 1 I paid the down payment and scheduled a delivery, I did not recieve the furniture into my home until July 3 one month latter, they did not put the furniture aside for me, it stayed on the sales floor...it was not on hold...on July 1, I went in to schedule my delivery and they told me I had a payment due, I said why I have not recieved the furniture yet, and I told you I did not need the furniture until July 1, they said well you rented it a month ago, I said I know but it has been in your store and you want me to pay you for furniture I did not ues? Yes they did, I said ok because they would not refund my money or deliver it until I paid it, I then told them to please take off the TV I did not want it, they did take it off but would not refund my money for the month I did not have it and charged me for the next month because I did not give them notice. I took the furniture and paid them monthly, I was still upset, about being charged for time I did not have the furniture and for a TV I never used, I asked Aaron the store manager several times for his managers phone # he would not tell me his name or give me the # he said I will have him contact you, I called several stores trying to get the name and contact information for this person and could not, I googled it and could not find out who the district manager was or anyway of contacting anyone...No one ever contacted me. I continued to pay monthly, when my lease was almost done and I had paid probably 3 times what the furniture was worth, I was going to be a month late on a payment, I called to let them know paid almost 1/2 the payment and set a date to pay the remainder, before I could do that, they started a campaigne of harrassament calling me daily, calling my work, coming to my home, I was not there when they came I was working they would leave notes on the door, they would knock on the door or pound until my neighbors would come out and tell them I was not home, they would scream my name out distrubing my neighbors. Finally one day they beat on my door and rang the door bell even though they were told I was not home until I was called at work and had to leave to come there and talk to them, through all of this I continued to keep in contact with the store letting them know I would not be 30 days late I would be in to finish the payment, the day I was called to come home I was told they had beat on the door and screamed into the door for 45 mins. When I got there I was so embarassed, they told me if I did not let them in to get their furniture they would issue a warrant for me for theft...by this time I was so embarassed that I gave up and let them in to take the furniture. I have lost the thousands of dollars I spent and the furniture, I and my neighbors were terriozed...because of some of my own mistakes and things I had no control over I was in a position to have to do a lease purchase, I am not alone there are millions of americans in this position, hence the many rent to own companies, but should these companies be allowed to do to everyone what they did to me, over charge for furniture is bad enough, to harrass and terrorize someone for a payment when they have already spent hunderds if not thousands of dollars, it seems a like a rip off, they are doing this on purpose for profit and taking advantage of people...I will tell everyone read the terms, know they can not come into your home unless you allow them, I did not know this and they can not take the furniture unless you allow them, they will have to go to court and fill a lawsuit against you, they know this hence the terror tactics they use, hoping you do not know this and I did not, I am an inteligent person, I work in sales management, I should have known better. There are many people like me that do not. Ban all rental companies, they sell you used furniture at new prices and lie to you that it is uesd just like they did me and my mattress, it was sinking in the middle, I said this not the one I choose in the store or tried out in the store, they insisted it was, I asked for a new mattress in an unopened box they refused...let us stop these people from taking advantage of others who are not in a financial position to stand up to them, this is like a dealership that charges 24% interest or a home mortage company who gives a 3rd mortage and then repos the house because you can not pay, they are taking advantage of someone elses misfortune...
