I live in California and I leased a vehicle for my hardworking 72 year mother from Kia SLC, Utah. My credit application was approved. The terms of the lease ($250 a months and $2000 downpayment) was agreed upon. All sales agreements and other related documents were signed. My mom was placed on the title and the car insurance as primary driver. My mom happily drove off the car of the lot.
A months and half later, I receive a call from the dealership stating that the financing did not go through and that they require my mother to be named on the loan as well. OR they will take my mom's car away.
This is a classic spot deliveray scam. where the dealership makes you believe that the deal is final only to bring you back in weeks later to force you into a new contract with higher interest rates and monthly payments. And after reaseraching the internet, apparantly, this unethical and illegal scam happens way too often. There needs to be a stop to this.
A deal is finalized. A deal is a deal. Now my mom is constantly worried and anxious that they are going to come her car from the house. I also want to add that after numerous requests, they have not provided me with a copy of my sales agreement or any other documents. This deal was done via mail. I sent my mom to the dealership. She chose the car to her liking and all paperwork were mailed to me, signed by me, and sent back to them. They wont even give me copy of my contract.
My first payment is due tomorrow. I have contact the finance department and they told me that I dont even have an active account!
