Saw a Groupon for windshield replacement offered by Winaffix. Paid $29 for the $100 discount.
Called around the L.A. area to get prices for replacing my windshield. Prices quoted for replacement at my home ranged from$129 to $225 and included the largest, most reputable firms.
When I called to make and appointment at their facility to use the Groupon (as instructed, I told them up front that I had the Groupon), they quoted me $325 for the windshield, replaced at their shop. They then said they would lower the price by the $100 of the Groupon and charge me a net price of $225.
When I told them how high their price was, they said that they used a better grade of glass and better mouldings. Having had windshields replaced in the past, I know that this is bull and refused the offer.
Groupon, when contacted, refunded my purchase price of $29 without any hesitation, once they heard this story. They confirmed that this was not the way a Groupon was supposed to happen and said they were going to contact the shop.
