I have never worked with such incompetent people. I have never recieved such poor service. I have never paid so much money for absolutely nothing! It has been over 3 months and over $600 to no avail starting our small business. If you are considering using Legal Zoom to start up your small business, save yourself some time, money and a whole lot of frustration from misrepresentation. Go online through your state and do it yourself. Legal Zoom will do nothing for you.

Legal Zoom itemizes their bill when formulating a new LLC or Corporation and when they list the bill item, they put an asterisk (*) by the Registered Agent Service so the total is incorrect. In a footnote, they tell you that your credit card will be charged an additional $159.00 after the LLC becomes legally effective so most people don't see the footnote. They are hoping you don't check your credit card statement until it's too late. It's completely deceptive!

I am a physician, and I used LegalZoom to try to set up a professional LLC. Unfortunately, the "professional LLC (PLLC)" documents that LegalZoom filed were not in compliance with Colorado law for professional LLC's. They only satisfied the requirements of a regular LLC. Regular LLC's are regulated under Title 7; professional LLC's are under Title 12, a completely different section of the legal code. In addition, no matter what the documents say, the name of the business has to have "PLLC" in it rather than just "LLC", which was also incorrectly prompted when I set up.

I really should have known better than to trust an internet company to set up my business PLLC filing. However, I had several friends (including other physicians) recommend them, so I decided to cheap out. My bad.

On hearing that I used LegalZoom, a lawyer friend of mine who specializes in business law asked to review the documents to make sure everything was ok. He did so and advised me my operating agreement was incorrect and completely inadequate.

So, I emailed LegalZoom and advised them that the filing was incorrectly done and that I wanted a refund. The reply? "After reviewing your order the Operating agreement does indicate that you are a professional entity, please refer to the first page section (A). Also please see the attachment with your filed articles. "

Basically, "It's a professional LLC because the operating agreement says 'professsional LLC' at the top." Well, I can put "MD" after my name, but if I don't have the diploma from medical school and a license from the state, I'm not legal to practice. And a professional LLC that was essentially filed as a regular LLC is just inviting a prosecuting attorney to pierce the corporate veil.

I called them next and asked how much it would be to dissolve and refile everything correctly. They wanted to charge me over $200 to do that, and that didn't seem right to me.

So then I hired my friend the lawyer and sat down with him to review the documents to see what could be done. Not only did LegalZoom generate completely incorrect documentation, they also incorrectly prompted me to buy their registered agent service. Their site says that "most states require a registered agent" - what they don't tell you is that YOU CAN BE YOUR OWN AGENT. You don't need to pay anyone to do it for you. All a registered agent is is someone who the Secretary of State can send notices to about things they need you to know. He recommended I give them one more chance to make it right, but that I should report them to Colorado's Attorney Regulation Council if they don't.

Well, I wrote down the exact parts of the Colorado Statutes that my lawyer explained to me, wrote them an email informing them of the same, requested a full refund plus $25 to re-file and do it right this time (that's the cost for filing paperwork with the Secretary of State), and advised them if they did not respond appropriately, I would be reporting them to the Attorney Regulation Council. Let me tell you, I had a full refund (without the extra $25, no biggie) email back in about 48 hours (despite the fact that their automated email said I'd have a reply by the next business day). So at least there's that.

But beware - they do not file the correct documentation for a professional LLC in the State of Colorado. They do not correctly inform you of your options regarding a registered agent, thereby bilking out out of a chunk of change. And they won't back down until you quote the law and threaten to report them to someone who understands the law. Unfortunately, you have to hire a lawyer in order to know that they're cheating you.

The best part? Hiring a lawyer was cheaper than hiring LegalZoom. Even without the friend discount.

I needed our Company LLC Revised, Annual Report Updated, and to know the current status of our LLC (Active, Inactive). They first told me my LLC was in bad standing and needed to have it's anual report updated. Total Charges were to be $120.00. I told Steve Moncy I'd call back the next day. --- next day: Steve Moncy(same guy I spoke to the day before), tells me my LLC has been dissolved and I will need to pay a total of $297.00 to have it Reinstated quickly, Update the Annual Report, and have a change of Management/Address Revision. ***red flag**** I decided that this sounded Fishy So I DID NOT Give him any CC info. I told him I'd call him back the next day. ---- I went to our local Secretary of State Website and Guess what My LLC WAS still active and did need to be updated and the dissolution date wasn't until september 2014! So to conclude: they lied and tried to scam more money out of me for the 'pending transaction' with their company. Guess how much it cost to do it myself via the Secretary of State website? $25.00!!!! Plus I had the paperwork right in front of me to print out. ---- I tried, and have been trying to get a hold of STEVE at LegalZoom via his extension/direct number and email but surprisingly I haven't received a call back. Don't Use LegalZoom! File an LLC yourself!

Terrible customer service!!! Can never get through your lines. When I did finally order an expedited corporation formation, they delayed it by several weeks because they held the order for almost a week without notification because they claimed my entity had to be filed as a PLLC. I argued this with 3 Legalzoom agents.Their agents argued with me over the status of my business PLLC v. LLC or Corp. repeatedly, giving me legal advice which they are not supposed to do. Finally I gave in. After receiving my paperwork after filing, I spoke to an attorney who informed me that those agents were indeed wrong. Now in the middle of funding, I have to submit an entirely new filing after dissolving the original entity something that I don;t have time to do. Legalzoom has cost me thousands of dollars as well as headache. Now I have to fight to get a refund. THANKS LEGALZOOM!! You are the worst experience that I have encountered!PLEASE use this reference on your website, I know that I plan to!

I contacted Legalzoom to form an LLC. My husband has a law firm but does not do LLC's, he has referred many clients to Legalzoom. I asked for expidited service, I was charged $671.00 and informed my kit would be at my door in 10 days..

Three weeks later it arrived. Legalzoom advertises that it verifies all paperwork. My LLC is entitled ""Paper Angels"". What I received was a kit entitled ""Paper angels"". Who in their right mind would conduct business with a punctuation error so horrendous?

I contacted Legalzoom and was so frustrated by their response that I am considering making a sandwich board for my husbands office diverting customers away from them, not just for their incompetence but for their customer service. They even went as far as to tell me that for $167.00 they would fix the error!

I went online and ordered a power of attorney to be drawn up before I was to have major surgery in July of 2012. I thought the price was reasonable and the documents looked professional (to my untrained eye). Initially, I was quite impressed with the service provided.

It's now April 2014 and I discovered that they have been charging me a ""membership fee"" every month since then. I simply ordered a POA and received it. I never requested or wanted to join a membership!

I find this to be unethical and quite honestly I feel like a victim. I was duped into paying for a service I didn't want or need.
