Lonestar Reviews

Lonestar Remodeling, owned by Mathew Runions, was hired on July 19th to remodel the basement of my daughter's new home located in Omaha, NE.

Mathew had requested that I put my credit card on file at Menard's so that he could go pick up materials as he needed them. l was not comfortable with that request but agreed to OK charges related to basement materials. Menards called me for approval of each purchase and then I gave them my credit card number. Matt told me he wanted to keep all receipts so he could track his expenditures. I agreed to this because I had access to my account on line daily.

The work was started on July 28th and to date is not completed. During the period from July 28 thru September 4th my wife and I were continually questioning the quality of work. Mathew and his crew would frequently leave the job early afternoon. He missed two and a half days because his brother was in the hospital. He committed to work two week-ends and did not show up or call. Mathew said he missed the first week-end because his father-in-law had been injured in a car accident. No excuse was given for the second week-end. He missed a total of six additional days with a myriad of excuses.

He walked off the job early on Sept. 4th, the day before our contract read the job would be completed. Absolutely nothing on the job was completed. He left doors in the garage half painted. The bathrrom tile was partially grouted and the bathroom sink had not been connected. Linen closet was about half done. Noneof the doors had the trim around them. Walls were sanded in places that we showed him imperfections but not repainted. No base board was laid. Closets were half finished but doors were not up.

Once I learned that I had been scammed I called and got copies of all my receipts for materials he had purchased for the basement. I subsequently learned that he had charged a saw, grinder, ladders and other tools that were never used on the job site.

He pocketed over $10,000. I have contacted the police as well as the Better Business Bureau and am now filing this report in the hopes that others will not be scammed by this CROOK!!!
