My moving estimate given by Vince M. was $200 for a two hour move and it ended up taking 4 hours and costing me $400. Double the estimate I was given. The movers were 2.5 hours late (due to an apparent accident - a lie they've used on other customers according to other reviews, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt that day) and I had to call to find out where they were. I had a 1 bedroom move from a storage unit to an apartment 2 blocks away that should have taken under 2 hours. I know this because I moved with another company a month prior to this and it took an hour less and cost $100 less for a 2 bedroom/duplex move twice in size and with much heavier/bigger furniture than I had. The movers moved incredibly slowly and it was basically only one of them doing the actual moving. They complained about their low pay and fished for a tip the whole time, which explains why they were moving so slowly.
They left several boxes in the truck and broke a leg on my coffee table. When I tried to dispute the charges with the movers they told me who to contact and they said that this is the same complaint they hear after EVERY move. They told me that their salesmen lowball estimates so they can get the sale and then they will be unreachable after. If I could do it again, I would not have given them my credit card information until speaking with their supervisors.
The following day, I spoke to Wayne S. the Direcor of Operations. He told me he would look into the issue and get back to me. He emailed me later in the day saying it was the busiest moving day of the year and he could not get back to me until the following morning. 7 days went by before I received a response from him and it was after I followed up with him again. He continued to lack follow-up in the following days and Vince was nowhere to be found. I reached out to him on 3 different occasions and never once heard back from him. Once they have your money, they wash their hands of you.
After further research on the company after my move, I found the exact same complaints listed by other customers. This is how Midway does business and it is not fair to the customer. They are lying and pulling a bait and switch. They know that once the move is complete, there is nothing the customer can do and they can keep our money. Midway was almost shut down 15 years ago because of these lies and they have not changed their practices as they said they would.They do not deserve to be in business and are stealing money from people. Do not hire them as your movers.
