Moorland Dog Adoptions Reviews

My precious dog died during an 8 month hospital stay so I was searching on line through rescues & shelters for another. I found a darling Papillon on Craigslist, an ad by Moorlands Dog Adoptions so I called and a "Maria" said she would bring him to my house the following night which was Monday. He was a skeleton, never saw a skinnier animal and my heart broke so I took him, it was a $285 fee. She said he was skinny because he had been a stray. In a couple of days he started vomitting and Maria had told me she was making appointment at The Pet Clinic in Salem for him to get his shots. She never did so I made one with my vet but he continued to get more and more sick and I was so worried because he was already comproised so on Sunday I took him to the Emergency Vet Clinic and they did tests and he had liver, kidney, pancreatic failure and other serious issues. He was dying right there. The vet said I should euthanize him and I just sobbed the rest of the appointment. I called Maria from the vet's and told her and she just kept saying he just had kennel cough. The vet tech took my phone and told Maria she was a Marion County Animal Clinic Officer and worked as a tech on Sundays and the dog did NOT havef kennel cough. We decided he should not suffer any more. The tech started asking Maria questions. First of all she had told me she lived in Corvallis and found the dog running loose in Eugene. She told the Tech she lived in Sweethome and found the dog in Bend. When asked if she reported him as a stray to local authorities she said yes. She also told the tech she had taken him to the Pet Clinic several days before I adopted him. I called both places the next day and she NEVER had him vet checked OR reported him to the Bend Animal Shelter as is the law. She did not keep him the required time period but found him and sold him to me just several days later. He did not have shots, worming, microchipping and was not licensed, all things rescues are supposed to do. I got NO paperwork on the dog. I was not educated on what rescues and shelters were supposed to do. Maria told the vet tech she would refund the adoption fee and pay the $246 vet bill. She said she would pay me back on Tuesday, 2 days later. I texted her Tuesday morning and basically we had about an hour long text argument. She said she would be at my house at 7:00 with the moneyd. Then she said she would bring the fee but go to the vet to pay that bill but I told her I had already paid the vet, she needed to give it to me. She never showed up, called, texted, nothing! She has been "selling" dogs for up to $350 each, a pretty good living! I learned she got in trouble last week with children's services and Linn County Animal Control because she had over 20 dogs inside her house not letting them out so neighbors wouldn't see them and has her 2 year old grandson living with her as her daughter, sho lives with her also, does nothing to care for the boy. Apparently Children's Services took pictures because the child had dog bitesd on him. Maria has MANY complaints and had warrants for her arrest in Washington for animal abuse to horses and working as a contractor without a license. She is the most prolific liar I have EVER spoken to, every other word is a lie. I don't know if I will ever get my money back and because I haven't been able to work for going on a year I desparately need it. I just want people down here in the Willamette Valley to know what scam artists and liars she and her daughter are. She "sells' dogs! I talked to one of her volunteers who designed her web site and she is quitting and lots of others have emailed me that they had bad experiences with Moorlands. I just hope they get put out of business!
