No registration paperwork

I contacted Kari Mercer about her puppies in April of 2014. I agreed to purchase one her puppies from a litter that was supposedly being imported from Germany. We agreed up $3800.

I picked up the puppy in July of 2014 and per the purchase agreement I was supposed to receive the registration paperwork within 3 months of bringing home my puppy. I contacted her around the end of September about the status of the paperwork and she stated that it should be coming from Germany at anytime. When I contacted ms mercer again in October of 2014 she stated the paperwork would actually take 6-8 months, and the 3 months that was in the signed contract was a mistake. It was also during this time, I found out that my dog has severe hip displaysia. This was confirmed by 2 different orthopedic vets. I sent all reports and X-rays to Ms mercer, as per the contract. In addition, I sent a letter asking for a 50% refund for my dogs condition. She was not interested in working with me. I felt I had choice at this point to file a lawsuit in tarrant county. In august of 2015, I went to court and won a judgment of $3500. As of today she continually makes excuses and has yet to pay any portion of her court order judgment.

Kari mercer routinely post her admiration and praise for military and law enforcement, of which I am both. However, she seems to have no problem ripping them. I will continue to use all legal means that are available to me and attempt to recover my awarded damages.

There are people who are satisfied with their dealings with Ms Mercer; however, it appears that when there are problems she doesn't deal with them, but chooses to ignore them. A quality business will attempt to address any issues and find a solution. I have also filed a complaint against Morning Star German Shepherds with Texas Attorney General.

My dog is almost 2 now and he is a well trained and great dog. He definitely has problems with his hips from time to time, and hoping that is doesn't end up being to debilitating for him as he ages.

If you are looking for a puppy, avoid Morningstar German Shepherds and Kari Mercer at all cost. After my personal dealings with ms mercer, I do not think I will ever purchase a purebred dog again and will rescue a shelter dog.

Purchased puppy from Morning German Shepherds for the amount of $2200.00 a deposit was made in the amount of $250.00 on 07/26/2011, but a few days later Mrs. Mercer (Kari ) advised me to wait for a different litter from ( missy & ary ) i agreed to wait. Before puppies were born she demanded full payment payments were made as mentioned before on 07/26/11 first payment of $250.00 on 01/11/2011 second payment of $1000.00 on 01/23/2012 final payment of $950.00.

When puppy was ready to be picked up she ( Kari ) refused to let me go get my puppy ( Harley ) she gave me two choices either release the puppy so she could sell him or me make a commitment to have him flown which would require a $355.00 deposit to har bank account. Needless to say i did not want to give her more money.

WE agreed she would sell Harley and refund $1800.00 14 days after the sale. Harley was sold i got no money Kari refuses to discuss the refund last communication was on 10/14/2014 she said (do not contact me if you do i will block your number ). Harley was a pricy puppy two for one paid twice for one puppy.

Kari Mercer of Morningstar German Shepherds in Mansfield, TX took two deposits totaling $1800 for two separate litters from us in August 2013. Both of those litters did not produce any puppies and as a result, Ms. Mercer would no longer take our calls. When we did reach her on the phone by calling from an unknown number, she promised to return our money. Months went by with no check in the mail. She later refused to return any of funds, citing that the deposits were non-refundable regardless if puppies were produced. A stance that was not reflected in our written contract with her. After months of trying to contact her, we were left with no options but to file a civil suit against her, which we won.

The court has ordered her to repay us in full, but she will not respond. We are now having to have the suit become public record so that a lien can be filed against her property. This did not have to go this far, and we were ready to work this out with Ms. Mercer at every stage, but to no avail. Do not buy a puppy from this breeder!

We found a beautiful GS with another breeder, thankfully. Many people stop us and ask us which breeder we used, and some have also chosen their GS through as well. We always warn them to stay away from Morningstar and ask them to spread the word, which is what I wanted to do here. With Christmas puppies being offered on her website, it's important for others to know who they're getting into business with. Word to the wise: Stay away! There are other more "reputable" breeders to choose from.
