MultiPlan, Inc., Reviews

Due to "obamacare", my employer now "contributes" to our medical coverage and I was not able to use my husband's carpenter's insurance last Dec 2014. In previous year's my employer signed a form which was sent to the carpenter's union stating they did not contribute and I was able to utilize my husband's insurance.

Since utilizing my company's insurance would have meant a $4/hour cut in pay just to get their insurance, I decided to get my own policy. I went to healthcare.gov and there was a link to GoHealth.com.

After looking at some available plans, I called the 800# for United Health Insurance Company (MultiPlan). I spoke with a man from Overland Park, KS for over an hour discussing the insurance benefits, co-pays, deductibles, etc.

He explained there was a $0 deductible, $10 co-pay for regular dr visits, $100 for ER, $75 for Ungent Care, $5/$10/$25 for prescriptions. It also included dental and vision for a cost of $227/month. There was also a $179 non-refundable "member fee" to join and the two stipulations weres that I had no lapse in previous medical coverage and that I had no significant illness or hospitalization for 5 years which I had not.

I signed up and my first deduction was scheduled for Jan 1st, 2015.

I recently made an appointment to see my PCP and gave them my new insurance information. They called a day before my appointment to tell me that I do not actually have medical coverage or medical insurance, but rather I have a "discount plan"! Needless to say, I was dumbfounded and felt like I had been hit with a MAC truck!

When I called a well known insurance provider to get coverage, they explained to me that I do not qualify for medical coverage because I do not fit any of their criteria and the open enrollment was over on Feb 15, 2015. What???!!!!

Yes that's right, now with "obamacare" even if you have never had a lapse in medical coverage (even if it is fraudulent medical coverage) you are NOT eligible to obtain medical insurance outside the enrollment period. The qualifier should be that I am "losing" my medical coverage which is a valid qualification to enroll outside of the enrollment period.

However, that event was clearly not part of the over 8,000 page "obamacare" bill which is unfortunately and regrettably now a LAW! Our current president, Obama, has no idea what he and his administration have allowed to happen to the people of the United States.

I am cancelling the so-called medical plan and will be writing to the Attorney General of Missouri, filing an online fraud report with the BBB, and will also be obtaining a lawyer to begin a class action suit. I intend to get every penny back of the $779 I have given to this company for nothing!
