National Magazine Exchange Reviews

  • May 21, 2015

National magazine exchange keeps taking money out of my credit card every month for magazines I never ordered and there still calling me and threatened me if I didn't pay then they would take the money anyway they ripped me off for a long while I had to get another card and they called me back orders me to give them my new card no.

  • Mar 20, 2015

I got a letter in the mail last week, titled Value: $1,100.000 payment options below

they continued to say they have been trying to reach me regarding my entry id #

In order to enter for eligibility to this prize opportunity they needed to hear from me. So I called and spoke to a gentlemen. He told me I am in the drawing for $1,1000,000 then he started to tell me about magazines, so I choise 3 then he said, let me give you over to my supervisor and she can help you out with the payment. Next thing I know she is offering me more magazines. I paid for the first 3 then she wanted me to buy more. I tryed to tell her no but she was not listening. So I hung up. Have not heard from them since nor have I gotten any magazines. I really did not want them any how.

This actually started in my case around fifteen years ago, I am not a fool the red flags went up when this mexican gentleman on the phone asked me for my checking account number and my credit card number. I knew that I wrecked his day when I told him, that my bank holds onto my credit card; the first thing he said next told me that this was a scam.

He wanted me to go to my back and get the numbers off of my credit card and call him back; I told him I am not willing to do that. He asked me why? And told him because I needed proof of the sweepstakes, their was a breif pause and then he came back on the line.

I asked him to send me a hard copy about the sweepstakes; I guess he knew right away that he wasn't dealing with some idiot. I told him I would not send him any money until he was able to prove to me, that this sweepstakes was legit after twenty minutes the line went dead.

Like I said I have recieved different so-called sweepstakes information from this very same company; for way over fiften years now. Like so many other people, the first time I wasn't so smart about it, back then they asked for me to send them a money order for X amount of money.

And that is just what I did, but ever since then, I will not fall for this or anymore scams; just because I live in a small town in Idaho doesn't men I am stupid. Like the old saying goes! If it sounds to good to be true, most likely it is not!

I have been repetedly harashed and constantly called by this company. I say no thank you and it's as if they're deaf on the other end, they just keep on talking. "We just need to get your credit card number and we can send you this merchandise, and not one but two magazine subscriptions." all you need to do is share that number and the next thing you know your card has been hit for charges you've never heard of. you try to get to the bottom of the problem knowing where the theif is, and your told so-o sorry no speak english. I warn everyone within the sound of my voice. Do not allow these criminals access to your credit cards without first calling the police! Just a buck 29 and the shipping cost and you'll be trying to stop them from gaining access to your financial life, for months to come.

  • Jul 23, 2014

I got a call from Publisher's Clearing House, they told me the magazines would be free for a year and then if I wanted to keep them coming I would have to pay for them.

I have tried to cancel thme, yet they keep coming as they tell me I have signed up for them.

I do not want the magazines and today I got a bill in the mail from them, saying my credit card did not go through, and they needed payment before October 4 to avoid late fee of $5.00. I just got the bill today 10/ 1/ 13. Even if I had ordered them I cannot afford to pay for them now. All I want is to cancel all of them.

Thank you.

Somehow NME roped in my wife, 80 years old and suffering dementia. When I saw the charges on our credit card statement I called to see what it was for. They said she had sucscribed to a list of magazines and this was a recurring charge. and we would get i9nformation by mail. When we received the list we called them on speaker phone. The list was extensive and included magazines an 80 year old infirmed (white) woman who neither cooks, sews, cleans, or gardens; would have no use for.

One of the titles was Seventeen, another was Ebony, another was a gourmet cooking mag. ect. After a long and heated conversation they asked why we hadn't specified our prefference for the ""his and hers"" watches. I told them we didn'y need or want their watches, we wanted to cancel all subscriptions and get a refund. They agreed to cancel most of the subscriptions and make two refunds one for $33. something and another for $64.something. We got the $33. one, but not the other.

I went to the mailbox today and returned with yet another issue of Seventeen. To say they are un scrupulous is putting it mildly.

Today in the mail, I received a notice for the Strike It Rich IX Sweepstakes. Reading the enclosed material, I then called the phone number provided to "confirm" the ID number and activate my entry. It was also clearly stated that no purchase was necessary to enter. The person I was speaking with then proceeded to try to get me to buy magazines, which I sort of expected. I let her say her piece, then politely said I was not interested. She paused for a beat, then continued to talk - pushing the magazines - as if I hadn't said anything. This happened 3 times. I finally had to be rude and simply hung up the phone. I then proceeded to send 2 emails - one to National Magazine Exchange site & one to the Strike It Rich IX Sweepstakes site. Just to be on the safe side, I also called the number provided (different number from the one called to enter) to be removed from the mailing list. That number was a recording where you could "leave a message" including the entry ID# in the mailing. I did so, going further to state that I did not wish to receive any phone calls either. The nerve of this company. I listened politely, said no politely, and was completely ignored. Very shoddy & questionable practice. Should I hear from these people again, I will update my report.
