Neil's Heritage House Reviews

  • Nov 28, 2014

We just returned from attending Neil's Heritage House's Thanksgiving dinner. In the past, we've attended many wonderful, joyous, Thanksgiving meals at Neil's. However, this year was a total bust. The quality of the food was very poor and the doling out of meager, poor quality, servings was an insult, considering that it costs $152+ for four people. We would have been better off if we had gone to a local soup kitchen and would probably gotten better food and service. The turkey was given out to customers in tiny dribs and drabs, basically in crumbs. And serving was painfully slow. I spoke to the "manager" who appeared to be in his early 20's. Many, many of the customers were complaining among themselves, many not knowing what to say or do. Most quietly accepted the meager bits of turkey and the poor quality side dishes that were reluctantly, if not amateurishly, served up to them. After complaining to the manager, some slices of turkey were made available, but most of what continued to be served were crumbs. Side dishes were of horrible quality. One wall unit contained old dried out baloney, cheese and stale crackers. The only, and I mean the only saving grace of the entire meal was the apple and pumpkin pies. Customers paid top dollar prices for a homeless person's soup kitchen experience. The receipt for our meal was sent by e-mail from Eric Leventhal via Square. The charge was "Adult T-Day Buffet X 4 for $120 with a sales tax of $8.70. However, even though it was a self serve buffet, a $24 gratuity charge was attached for a total of $152.70. This would not have been bad, at all, if the food had been half way decent. I was embarrassed for Neil's. We brought two guest, to whom we apologized for the sad experience. The owner, who ever it is, should be tarred, feathered and run out of town on a rail. I've been a fan of Neil's Heritage House for many decades. It saddened me to see unprofessional staff, dirty floors and the tremendous lack of class and trashy ambiance. Neil's Heritage House took what should have been a happy Thanksgiving experience and turned it into a trailer park trash nightmare. We'll never go back. If it were up to me, I would give Neil's Heritage House the "Do we eat it, or did we eat it, award."
