Consumer's Original Complaint :

They are telling me that things are fixed every time I go in when in fact they are not. I have proof of this.

When I asked North coast to fix my car overheating, bad suspension and a noisy pulley, they claimed to have done so and I left the shop. The problems slowly came back. All they did was clean the parts and spray them to eliminate noise.

I was charged 430 dollars and paid it in full.

The next time that I went back to have them fix the same three issues they made me wait 6 hours just for an estimate. When I went back to the shop to ask about the estimate it was ironically finished. They said, good news we were able to fix it. Everything is all fixed.

I asked what was wrong and they said the sway bar bushings were loose and that they had put new ones on.I asked how they did that and they said, with tools. I was amazed considering I had welded the sway bar brackets on previously myself. There was no way they dewelded the brackets themselves in their shop and put new bushings on themselves. The mechanics were stunned when I insisted that I had welded the brackets on and I caught them in a bold faced lie. All they did that day was spray the parts I claimed were noisy. Spraying things does not fix the issue. In fact, they are purposefully allowing me to drive off with an unsafe vehicle as a result.

upon leaving I noticed that they pulley still made noise, and that the control arms and undercarriage was oily and greased up. No parts appeared changed, no bolts appeared turned. I removed the tire with a different certified mechanic and he told me that nothing appeared to have been touched.

North Coast Auto has been delaying a timely and efficient service on this repair. It's not about the money, I don't mind paying what is reasonable, I just want the car to 1)drive straight, not eat tires, to not overheat, and to not make belt noises.

The car also now leaks oil and I never noticed this until the mechanic notified me of the issue. I can't be sure when it started or if he caused it. I do not wish to go into that but it IS ironic.

The repairs have been inferior, improper and incomplete. Every time I visit the mechanic tells me that things are fixed and they are in fact not. He even told me that he degreased the pulley and suspension, and popped in new sway bar bushings. A simple investigation with a different mechanic revealed that that was not so. The undercarriage was caked with grease and the bushings were welded in just as I had before. No signs of recent welding or welding tools were available. When I asked how the mechanic did the bushing job he acted surprised and befuddled when I told him that he didn't use tools to remove the brackets because they were welded on. He lied to me.

This shop is clearly delaying the completeion of the repair. This delay has caused additional damage because I have to drive to work no matter what, in order to make payment on this very car.

Another note- The shop seems to shy away from providing documentation. I had to pull his arm to get a written statement of previous work and current work. He said he had no way of doing so and I asked if he had a copy machine. Finally he went and made the copy.

The shop never returns my calls and rarely answers the phone. I have to call on different numbers or personally go in to get financial paperwork and auto repair paperwork.

I understand that I bought the car as is but that is beside the point. I just want the car fully repaired.

He told me verbally the last time I was there, and after I had caught him lying about the sway bar that he would give me the repairs for 100 dollars (some sort of deductible) and that I would get a loaner car. He mentioned that he couldn't do the repairs until the loaner was available. And still I wait as he delays the repairs. I hope he honors this repair estimate and in a timely manner.

I also want every part after the repair so that I can compare and contrast pictures.

The auto dealer also calls me asking for insurance information constantly, telling me that it's no good even after they said it was fine.

Consumer's Desired Resolution:

I would like the car to not overheat, I would like the pulley to not make noise, I would like the oil to not leak, and I would like the suspension to be repaired. This is what I originally asked them to do and this what they have been delaying and lying about.

03/25/2014 BBB MORE INFO RECEIVED FROM THE CONSUMER : I have just finished checking my credit report as well and It shows no inclining of an auto loan. I'm not sure why my loan is not on my credit report if I have been paying on it. I do not know if this is an issue to address or if there is some reason for this. I feel that if I am paying on the car loan that my credit report should reflect that I am paying on it.

I've received several credit report denial letters in the mail on their behalf and thought to check my credit report as a result.

I have been paying on the loan for a little over a year now.

This business is very shady the way it operates.

I stopped into the shop and they were very twisty with their words. They are making it seem as if I am going to pay them to fix some things but not actually the whole problem. I asked them to fix the overheating, suspensions noise and the noisy belt, and oil leak.. and they are saying that they have to do it one step at a time and go from there. It sounds like they are planning to fix one thing and then charge me for round 2 of repairs. I want to avoid this and I AM NOT accusing them of doing this because we haven't reached that round 2 yet. I just feel that if I go in for an oil leak, overheating, pulley noise, and suspension noise, they should be able to fully test the vehicle and fix the entire problem without going through a step by step basis in which I have to pay and keep coming back and wait 6 hours in their waiting room.

NOW, that being said, I did finally get a call from them and they told me that a loaner car was available. They made me sign a paper stating that I was responsible if anything happened to this loaner car and they ensured me that the only problem was the check engine light. This is NOT the case. There is a transmission jump when changing gears, the blinker doesn't work and the oil light is shorting on and off. The hood will not open for me to ensure that there is oil in the vehicle as every good driver should check this.

I called them to tell them about the loaner cars issues and they told me to come up and they would fix it. I do not want to wait in their waiting room for several hours again and I do not want to deal with this any more. This issue is starting to cause me psychological harm, pain and suffering and it is starting to affect my work schedule and my personal schedule is already affected fully.

I hope that I can open the hood and get oil in the vehicle and if I have to go up there I hope they don't take forever to get the car to be safe and running reasonable to where it won't break down.

I DO NOT want to be responsible for this loaner car in any way shape or form for existing mechanical problems or problems that may arise due to their lack of letting me know before hand. They told me that NOTHING was wrong with the loaner car when in fact there were things wrong with it. This is a shady operation and they lack the ability to diagnose vehicles OR they just didn't care to look at it before giving me the loaner car.

03/27/2014 BBB MORE INFO RECEIVED FROM THE CONSUMER : It has now occurred to me that I have negative equity. I owe a little over 7 grand on this car and current PT cruisers in better condition, same year, are selling for 3 grand. I used cars.com and searched for cars in the area. Why am I paying double market value for this car? Blue Book value for my car is 2,967. I am paying three times what the car is worth and they can't even fix it up for me. I feel that I am being cheated, lied to and stole from.

North coast auto mall odometer fraud bedford, ohio

My farther had purchased me a mereceds benz c300 from north coast in august 2011 with the odometer reading 22k

At first the car was going fine nothing was wrong with it but when october came around my battery keep dying on me happened at least 4 times. One of those times my dash went out so i had called roadside assistance and they had jumped my car and drove it to mereceds of north olmsted. It had taken a few days for them to fix my car because they didn't know what was wrong with it. When they had given me my car back the odometer was was reading 37k when it went in it had 25k. I had called mercedes and they had told me go in the next day and they will show me why my car had 12k miles more.

The next day i was headed to school when out of nowhere npmy battery had died again while i was at the gas sation so i had called roadside again and they had jumped started me. After the car was running i took the car to mercedes and once i was there i had asked what is going on with my car and how are my miles so high they had told me he didn't know what was wrong with it and then they had showed me a chip that lies about the miles that was in my car and they had replaced the part that it was on my car.

After hearing that i was lied to about my miles i had called north coast telling them what they had found in my car and they just acted like i was dumb and didn't know what i was talking about, so asked for the owners number. I had called the owner many times and he didn't even pick up once and then i had left at least 4 voicemails and didn't even get one call back. Later on in the day my father and i had went to go confront them about my car. While we spoke to one of the owners he had tried blaming us on the chip saying we had put it there and it wasn't his fault that we had bought the car and had said maybe we drove the car and put that many miles even in one with mereceds it jumped up, he even said its only 12k miles who cares. He didn't care what we had to say and he had claimed we made a bomb threat on us and his was going to call the police which i found really racist because i'm arabic.

Now here i'm waiting to hear from my lawyer and see if we can get are money back for the car. Ps never buy from north coast auto mall they are some shady people

North coast auto mall, north coast, 1st gear auto inc. John, garry, watch out!!! internet

1st gear auto, inc. D/b/a north coast auto mallnorth coast)

These guys are wolfs in sheeps clothing!!!

If you are looking at buying a car from these guys, be very very leery.

My wife and i purchased a car from them last month it came to us needing about $3,100.00 in repairs before my wife could even drive it.

Tires $1,200

Brakes $800

Front wheel bearings l&r $600

Abs sensors that had to be replace with the bearings $300

Several door dings on the passenger side $200

I had an extensive conversation with the salesman john about the car and asked him very specific questions like; are the tires in good shape?, does it have any door dings or dents?, are the brakes in good shape or needing repair.John told me that they were in great shape and everything was perfect on the car and claimed all his cars went through en extensive inspection process before they were put on the lot or sold.John and the people at north coast were very responsive to my phone calls until they got the check from my bank. The day they got the check they stopped answering my calls and dodged me every chance they could. When my car finally arrived a week later, it was filthy inside and out and by first examination it had several door dings on the passenger side and the tires were balled almost to a dangerous level.I had already sold my wifes car so i had to except it.The minute i drove away from the transport truck, i could tell there was a problem with the front end of the car.It had a very loud roaring sound coming from the front end once you reached about 35 mph.It was so loud that you could not think.I called the salesmen immediately and he tried to argue that the car was perfect when it left the dealershipthis was obviously a flat out lie.The car also had not floor mats, so i asked him to please send my mats this is another story in its self because i did not get them for 3 weeks and had to threaten them with my attorney to get them to even respond at all.I got the salesmen to agree to let me take the car to a mechanic, the mechanic gave me an estimate of what it would cost for one of the wheel bearings and i ask the sales man to pay for it and i would take care of the rest. This is where the real run around began.I repeteif your are looking at a car online at north coast auto, be very careful and in my opinion find anotehr car at anotehr dealership. There are also many other complaints online about this same dealership, so my wife and i are not the only one these guys have screwed

North coast Auto Mall I strongly believe I was sold a vehicle that was in a flood. There is rust even under the seats. Akron Ohio

I purchased this vehicle from north coast auto mall. This is the worst purchase I have ever made in my whole life. I felt throughout the whole deal that I was being pressured to buy this vehicle. I am 70 years old and I guess I am not thinking as clearly as I use to and I feel they took advantage of that. I showed the salesman the rust under the hood and I told him that I thought the vehicle was a flood car. He said I will send the car back to the service department and have the service manager check it out. After a while the service manager came out to tell me that the vehicle was not in a flood. Since having the vehicle home and further inspection there is rust everywhere including the metal under the seats and under the doors. Also on the way home the transmission was slamming hard into 4th gear which it still does that from time to time. When I am done paying for this it will have cost me almost 11,000 dollars. I definately need help.

North Coast Auto Mall No Customer Service - Very Unprofessional Bedford Ohio

Was told information that was not 100% accurate via the phone on a potential purchase. Drive approximately 300 miles one way with an appointment. The car was not show room ready to be shown or test driven. Car needed cleaned inside and out. Exterior paint touch up wasn't correct shade as exterior. Torn leather interior. Oil change indicator was on along with Navigation attention required. Car fax showed auto accident but didn't know extent of the damage. Although this was a used vehicle, these flaws should have been revealed. Phone call indicated flexibility on price. In person, they offered to reduce price by approx $400. They claim to be a wholesale dealership. No way!!! They tried to scam me on my trade in when I had the Kelly Blue Book and NADA trade in values with me for proof. Theyput $5.00 work of gasoline in the car and said I could test drive it for about 20 minutes. I got lost and the indicator came on that I had zero miles until empty. I had to put gas in the vehicle to ensure I didn't run out and they didn't even offer to refund me for it. Needless to say, I had terrible customer service. No one even tried to "Wow" me as a potential customer. Sales personnel seemed confused and unorganized. I even called the General Manager once I left. He said no excuse for not having the vehicle ready to be shown as I had an appointment. Said they offered me the best deal they could. The office was busy, but I think this place is for customers that really struggle financially with no other options, they don't care about customer service or professionalism. Unfortunately, I would say that this North Coast Auto Mall takes advantage of these customers. I would not recommend you do business with this company. I left this business and went to a different dealer in a differnt city in Ohio and purchased my vehicle where I was treated like a real customer and that they appreciated my business.

A very enjoyable buying experience for a change! my wife and i drove 2 hours last saturday to help our daughter purchase her first car on her own. Alex niazov met us at the door and was very polite and professional. He had the car we came to look at in 10 minutes a 2014 ford focus. My daughter loved the car so we proceded to purchase it. Alex was top notch salesman new his product well and gave us a good fair deal without the back and forth bs that i hate. He then sent car to be cleaned and detailed, he stayed with us throughout the process i said hey dont you need to grab another sale and he said not untill you drive away. An hour went buy and he was upset car was not back so he walked a quarter mile to their detail shop grabbed our new car drove it back so we could get on with our day i was impressed over all a vert good buying experience.” ~ sam and pam

"outstanding. I walked into north coast only wanting to look at three vehicles i had seen online. I was expecting them not too look as well as they seemed online considering the low prices listed after searching online for several hours. In no time at all i walked out with my new keys in hand. Nick baron made the process enjoyable and took care of me and my family more then i ever expected. Outstanding business!!!” ~ jmcnutt65
