I received a warning notice from North Shore Agency on behalf of Gun Tests Magazine indicating that I was past due on a $20 payment. It was a trial offer which if I wasn't interested I could keep the complimentary copy of said magazine to determine if I wanted to subscribe or IGNORE. I didn't deem the magazine worth the price and ignored the offer. I later received a second copy and a bill which I also ignored as I hadn't requested the subscription.

I am being accused of ordering a magazine subscription, at Forbes and they have turned it over to a collection agency. I never ordered a subscription and plan on requesting that they show me evidence of it. I have only ordered magazines that Cars are the subject. I did get a couple of magazines from Forbes, but I did not order them and figured they were trying to entice me to order from them. But I have very little interest in big business, and it actually turns my stomach after working for a bank holding company. But I did not order and will not pay for a magazine that I have no interest in! Thanks for your help, and I see that many others have been dealing with the same thing, that I am, unfortunately!

I have subscribed to the national publication Sports Illustrated for years and this time decided to let my subscription run out as the price was half of what the publisher offered for an online digital version through a third party. I kept getting letters from Sports Illustrated that I owed them 39.00 for simply not choosing to renew.

Today I got a shakedown letter from some sleazy outfit that based on a very brief internet search has a history of shaking down consumers for debts that they do not owe. Must be pretty tough in America these days when bottom feeding collectors like North Shore Agency - a cute acronym of NSA - are threatening to damage the credit of chosen victims over a measly 39.00 but maggots do need to eat.

I would hope that people will gain awareness of the nature of predatory debt collectors and their scams and join together to file a class action lawsuit against the bastards. I certainly have no intention to pay for something that I did not receive and would welcome any harassment from NSA because I will pursue legal action on my own if my credit record or ability to obtain credit is damaged in any way by these charlatans.

Today we received a collection letter in the mail from North Shore Agency in which we were notified that we owed $12.00 to Guns and Ammo magazine and that we were to send the payment in immediately so that the matter could be closed. The letter claimed that their client had turned the account over to them although they (Guns and Ammo) recorded the delinquency in an internal file.

My first thought was, $12.00, that is no big deal, but then I became annoyed because I remembered cancelling the subscription last year and we have received no further communication from the company, other than offers enticing us to renew our subscription. I told my husband that I didn't understand how that could happen and he told me to research the collection company and I read of several similar reports on the RipOff Report!

Next I called Guns and Ammo and talked to a very nice representative who assured me that my account was paid in full and had been closed for a year. I told her about the letter and she took down the information.

$12 for our family and for many families is not a make it or break it deal, but then I think of elderly people on a fixed income and families that do struggle, and $12 can mean 12 cans of soup or a quarter tank of gas and it infuriates me that this can happen to other people. And how many other pcople get similar notices and are already struggling with credit and pay the bill out of fear? Thousands of collections of $12 add up to a lot of money for somebody.

They are trying to get me to pay $24.41 to Publishers Clearing House. I ordered nothing from Publishers Clearing House!

Paid a bill to North Shore Agency with my credit card and received a transcation number on July 22, 2014.

Now they have sent me a letter telling me I need to PROVE that a payment was made and they want a

copy from my credit card statement with the transcation on it to UPDATE MY FILE. This is none of there

business. They don't answere there phone. All they have is an answering machine wanting payment only.

No chance to even leave a message. I know that every company that has a credit card machine gets a

transaction print out at the end of each day, so they know who has sent in there payment. Now they are

threating me for not complying. Is this a scam or what. I was also charged a extra fee at the time a made

the payment on there machine. This really makes me mad. I feel there is something no right with this

company.

I received a collection notice for $14.97 for a magazine I never subscribed to. I live in Florida and the subscription is for Pennsylvania Game and Fish. It seems this company does this to a lot of individuals. Probably buys mailing lists and shotguns out collection notices for non-existant debts. I'm responding to thier notiuce by letter didputing teh debt and contacting both the Florida and New York State Attorney Gemerals offices along with teh New York BBB. I hope this will resolve this fraudlent billing practice.

Better Homes and Gardens is claiming I requested a book and owe them $34.43. For years I have been calling and telling these types of companies NOT to send anything to me. If I order something I will immediately pay for it but don't just send me cookbooks, books or magazines and expect me to get it or even assume I want it. I'm not sure what this was but I do know I never requested any book of any kind.

I tell these companies I live far out in the counrty on a busy old HWY and our post office sets large items up against the mailbox (on the ground). If there is something I order and I know its large I have it sent to my in town mailbox, again another reason why I know they must have sent it without my request. I have been getting bills and ignoring them for months. I made a phone call to Family Circle and they said to not worry about it. This week I received a bill from North Shore Agency.
