I stayed at Osh Guesthouse twice. The only thing that could recommend it is that other travelers stay there so one can meet people.
During my second stay, I told the workers there that I wanted to go to Murghab, Tajikistan and asked them about taxis in the city. I specifically asked where I could pick a taxi up. They would often smile mischeivously and tell me to wait for the boss. I pointedly asked again if there was a taxi stand where I could go to get a taxi to Murghab, and finally they said that there wasn't but that they could arrange a car for me.
Because I was eager to get on my way I agreed to this and paid $70 USD. Then I got an email from a friend that told me that there was in fact a stand. By that time my taxi was ready to go. I accused the management at the guesthouse and the owner who is always going to pray at his Saudi mosque of misleading me about taxis. They denied this and eventually with a chuckle said, "we're a business - what would you do?" I told them I wouldn't lie and take advantage of people staying in their guesthouse.
The owner then changed the subject to Israel, perhaps trying to make me defensive as an American. Since the car had arrived I decided to go ahead. But $70 USD is nearly twice the amount one should have to pay for Murghab. And the car they gave me broke down. Osh Guesthouse is owned by hypocrites that pretend to be religious but are really sleazy. Don't believe a word they say.
