PayPower Reviews

Six days ago, I bought my son a prepaid visa card at my local grocery store. I had it loaded with 20.00, and brought it home, logged onto the website provided. Let the fun begin....

The problem I encountered was when I put in my e -mail address (the same one I've had for the past 8 years), the page reports an error, that I have entered an invalid e-mail address. I then try my work e-mail address, my wife's, etc., nothing works, and it is a required field. I then decided to call the 888 number.

I called the toll-free number on the activation sticker. After approx. 40 minutes on hold, a lady tells me that they are having problems with the website, and I need to try again in about 72 hours.

Fast-forward to today (Sunday, bought it on Wednesday), and I got all the way to the end of the web registration, and get "technical difficulties, please try again later.

I called 888 number again, and I recieve response that my balance is zero dollars!! How? I haven't used it, and the customer service rep said I had 20.00 showing on the card, it just needed to be activated. Around and around we go...

I am going to return to my local grocer, and ask for my 20.00 back. Being a loyal, frequent customer, I am confident they will help me out. PayPower hasn't. I am going to also ask that the grocery manager talk to his card vendor, and cancel delivery of PayPower loadable cards. I smell a rat here. I'm lucky they just got me for twenty bucks; hopefully I can at least help someone locally from being ripped off. I think I will copy and paste this to my Facebook page also, to let my friends know my opinion of this organization. Good luck, consumers. Beware of this company!!

I received an email on today, May 25, 2015 @ 10:43 a.m. saying I had an outstanding Payday Loan for amount of $550.00 . I never took out a loan with these people. they said I had to contact the INTERNET CRIME COMPLAINT CENTER. within 48 hours or they would put my name on the US Federal government Scam list , also threatening to tell my employer . they also put this on the letter in bold letters"WE CARRY ALL THE RIGHTS TO INFORM FBI, FTC, YOUR EMPLOYER AND BANK ABOUT FRAUD DONE FROM YOUR SIDE." tHEY ALSO STATED THAT THEY WANT ME TO CONTACT THEM IMMEDIATELY via email which they say will be recorded and used for legal purposes. I know this is a scam I have been getting these for the past 2 months around the time its gets close t my SS check . I realized this is allfrom me applying for payday loan , and after they told me I had to get a MoneyPak for a certain amount of money and give them the numbers and then I could go to any western union and p.u. my money. I spoke with someone I know works at a check cashing that deals with western union and they told me don't do it. and I listened ,but they still keep sending these notices , I would be more that glad to send it to you.

I filed my tax return thru TaxAct and they offered an option to send a card loaded with my tax refund. They specificly advertise 7-10 business days. It has been 43 days. Each phone call takes over 20 minutes until a rep gets on the line although at this point I feel like they are BSing me each time. I attempted to purchase another one of their cards from safeway so they can transfer the funds to it and they won't let me transfer my money from their account onto another for some reason. I honestly feel lost on what to do at this point, what if it never comes?

Beware of PayPower pre-paid Visa Debit cards and their association with their preferred method of loading additional funds through reloadit.com

All works well with the initial pre-paid Visa card, the scam starts when you try to load additional funds through PayPower's preferred method at reloadit.com. The phone numbers are almost identical, and when you load cash to a "safe" on reloadit.com, you get a pack number that is supposed to be used to actually load the funds to the Visa card.

When confronted, PayPower claims the cash that should have been loaded through reloadit, was loaded through a scamming website, and not the website for reloadit, and there is nothing they can do for you, because someone else's Visa account was credited.

Reporting it to police, and BBB.

On the 23rd of January I received a phone call telling me I was approved for a loan as much as $3000. I was shocked and feeling sideways about the offer at the same time. My utility Bill was due and I also was paid that day, but not as much as usual. I accepted the offer and I stated that I didn't need that much so they insisted on telling me I had to get at least $1000.

Next step was I had to pay a verification fee of $150 and he said that was to just make sure I could pay it back in $150 monthly! I was not so sure at first until he told me it would be debitted back on my card with the loan amount of $1000. After that I was told to send the $150 through moneygram to Paypower.

Once I sent my hardworking money that could have went on my light bill or 2 baby boys he then asked for $475. So I began to question why I am spending all this money for a loan if I had the money I wouldn't need a loan. I mean I can pay it back I have a JOB . So I spoke with manager and he told me I cannot get my money back they will hold it until I come up with the $475. The only way to get the load was buy paying a verification fee of $150 and a accou t registration fee of $475.

I filled my taxes January 21st 2015 with Tax Act and decided to use the debit card choice they give to recieve money. I was supposed to receive my card with in 7 to 10 business days, I finally receive my card after a month and a half and an eviction notice later because I was relying on that card to pay my rent. Once I receive my card it won't let me pull the cash out. Their policy says you can pull out 500$ every 24 hours. I decided to use the bill pay to pay my rent and am told it would be in the bank account within 24 hours. So I call the next day after 28 hours and ask about the money, the lady then tells me that the check would be received withing 7 to 10 business days. The check has not been received and they will not put the money back in my account.

I had applied on line for a personal loan with Capital One. However; this fraudulent Capital One turned out to be a SCAM. This Capital One had the proper paper work/ loans docs... I was told specifically to Purchase a Pay Power Visa Credit Card. Upon purchasing the Pay Power Credit Card and adding twenty dollars. Upon contacting Fraudulent Capital One and giving them my CC # as requested the money was immediately taken off. Realizing a SCAM in progress, I contacted FTC, the Real Capital One and PayPower. PayPower Promised to resolve this situation and to Return my Monies within three days!! Several weeks has elapsed and No Monies are going to be returned! PayPower and these fraudulent SCAMS are somehow related!

I filed my income tax with tax act and due to the fact that I do not have a bank account they referred me to pay power. My taxes were deposited on the card within 11 days but it took a month for me to receive my card and when I did it was $67 short of what had been deposited. Pay Power is a rip off

I needed a loan for my son and he needed the money now for his divorce. Filled out a few forms online and got a call Friday, Oct. 3 2014. Well this morning I went to walmart sent the $295.00 they said I needed to send to show I could make payment. When that was done, and they had the proof of the money gram, they told me I then had to send 495.00 to cover the money gram. When I told them I did not have that after the first one. I was then asked if I could send 300. and I could send the rest once I got my money gram from them. Yes I was very dumb and was trying to help my son. I sent the 300 and was then told that if I did not send the 495 all at once I would not get my loan. Well when I told him what he had just told me about sending the other after I got the loan, I was told, "oh well you wont be getting a loan". I was hung up on 4 times today. I then went to my bank and filed a complaint. I was told I would get my money back may take up to 3 weeks but that I wasn't the first to fall for this kind of trick. Everyone do not do anything with Pay Power!!!

I was applying for loan and got approved, then they called and wanted money on card to prove I could pay the money back, I did. Then they wanted more money on another card, so I did for the prossesing fee. and then they wanted more for a transfer fee. That is when I said forget it and return my money cuz the wanted $950.00, for a $3,000 loan. That is when they said they cant refund or return my money to me. I have kept calling them but the hang-up on me and havent done anything to return the money I so despretly need back to pay my bills and going to be kicked out of my place. So if anyone can help me get my money returned to me it will be a great help thank you. Richard from Polson Montana

I recently went through a divorce and this is the first tax return that i have filed on my own, ever in my entire life. I was looking forward to recieving my taxes and getting all caught up on my bills. i have been babysititing all year to make ends meet. So this is the first large sum of money that i have gotten and earned on my own. I was expecting my refund to be direct deposited onto my paypower card (that i never recieved in the mail) on April 9, 2014. Well the funds (apprx. $3,000) came from the IRS and my card never did. So i attempted to transfer my money to my cousin's card so i could use it, well they filled out a "ticket" which would take 3 to 5 business days to go through and then i could use my money. Well 7 days later after numerous calls to paypower i get transfered to "lori" in the risk management department. i can't read and write well so i had my friend helping me with everything, (she is typing this for me now) and she immediately started talking down to me. in fact her whole attitude changed and she starterd talking slower and spelling things out for me. it was embarassing not to mention it was upseting as well. so rather than deal with lori any more i ordered another card, which i had to pay $35.00 for because it was sent ups. i wanted to make sure that i recieved it this time.

well when i recieved my card i went to use it and there was a lock on it. so once again i called up paypower and they informed me that lori from risk management put a lock on my card and i couldn't use it. after speaking with her once again she informed me that she would take the lock off my card when she verified my identity. so i went to social security and got a paper from them and went to the dmv and got a duplicate of my drivers license. well i sent them all oif the documents that they wanted through email and that still wasn't good enough. now they want a copy of my drivers license and proof of residency. so i wait until my license comes in the mail and send them a copy of that and my cell phone bill. that was 3 days ago and every time i call they say that someone from risk management will be calling me back and they never do. they went so far as to tell me that it doesn't matter how many times that i call it won't make them help me any faster!!

so as it stands now i am about to be evicted from the place i am staying because i was counting on that money to live on. they have had my taxes for over a month now and still will not acknowledge me or help me in anyway. i call they tell me that they have no control over the lock on my account and they can't help me in anyway. it was risk management and they are located in a different state and they don't have a direct number. they are reached by them through tickets that are filled by them. each ticket takes 3 to 5 days (always longer) to get an answer to. i even tried to tell them to send my taxes back to the irs but David from risk management convinced me that was a bad idea. now i want to send my taxes back to the irs but i cant get ahold of anyone to do it. it is done through risk management department and they wont call me back and i cant get ahold of them, they are always busy. their exact words are "they are unavailable at this time!!"
