Philly Home Supply Reviews

  • Jun 18, 2015

I will never do business with Philly Home Supplies on Washington Ave in Philadelphia, PA again. My wife and I went to the store in January 2015 after receiving the amount of our insurance settlement due to water damage from our bathroom into our kitchen.

We picked out cabinets, a countertop and a backsplash for an estimate of about $1400 for the granite countertop, about $2500 for the cabinets and about $100 for the backsplash for a total of $4000. It took until the end of April to finally get our settlement and during that time we changed our minds about certain things and reduced our countertop square footage and changed the cabinets around a little to save some money for the moment and reduced the amount of cabinets to purchase. When I got to the store to put money down on our future kitchen, the price stayed at $4000. The countertop was now $1600, the backsplash stayed the same and the cabinets were now $2300 and that didn’t include the $1000 for the cabinets that we put off to buy later. I was in a spot and wanted to keep this going so I decided to pay the money and get the work started.

Two weeks go by and the cabinets arrive. Happy days are around the corner, right? Not so much. Cabinets get installed and I call for the countertop to be measured and installed. Two more weeks go by and I get the call, “countertop install on Friday.” More happy days, right?? Three installers arrive and one asks to use the bathroom immediately. 20-30 minutes later he comes out and all the windows need to be opened immediately. When it’s safe to enter, my wife finally goes in to the bathroom and sees that water has been splashed EVERYWHERE! I’m upset and think it’s a one-time thing and chalk it up. I finally look at the counter after work and see several problems. First, the holes for the sink faucet are cut off-center by ¼ of an inch. Then I see that the ¼ bevel on the front edge stops at the back edge of an end that sticks out and the bottom of the same piece is not polished.

I contact Philly Home Supplies and get the runaround with emails and phone calls for about a week. Fixing the ¼ bevel and polish the edge wasn’t an issue for them but the faucet holes were. They wanted to cut a bigger hole to make it even and I wasn’t comfortable with that. I suggested them buying me a new faucet, about $175-$200, to cover their mistake and they acted like I asked them for a brand new countertop. They weren’t having any of that!

I decided to deal with the faucet because I needed running water in my kitchen for the first time in two months. Finally, the same guy from the bathroom incident comes to finish the bevel and goes to the bathroom one more time before he leaves. He urinated all over my toilet and once again splashed water everywhere. I called to complain and was told, “I can’t speak for his bathroom habits. We are only coworkers.”

I repeat, I will NEVER deal with these people again and neither should you!!

I consider those that have sacrificed before me

The 5 stars should go to the review. It has turned ME away from this establishment. It sounds like the workers are very ignorant people. But worse than that, management, ( deals unethically for the sake of profit ), they back up poor service by their workers. Enuff is Enuff ( in respect to this review ), before I even stick my

own head in a similar noose. The customer was far to lenient. I would not have paid for the scam just to get things over with.
