Okay,I have purchased the used Japanese Comprehensive1 & used Japanese Comprehensive2 courses on CD(30 lessons on each)-with great success, and also downloaded the users manual/reading booklets for free off the internet for additional support and to learn cultural facts about the Japanese language and customs/culture.

However, something did not go right when I happened to order the used Japanese Comprehensive3 course on CD.I never got this one!I ordered this online from PimsleurMarketplace .com,back on July 26,2014(the actual date that the money was removed from my account was: July 28,2014).I have documentation of this-I made a copy of the completed order, and filled in important facts to supplement the order(the companies address, when I recived the second course, company phone number, work hours,etc.).

Anyway,it is going on 3 months after the order cleared, and I have received NOTHING.No email as to when I will get this, etc.I have made numerous calls to their support line phone number. Here's the scenario:the phone is answered by a recording, and they immediately put you on hold, after about 30 seconds another recording comes on and says:"because of the volume of calls we are getting, please leave your name number and a brief message, about the service you need, and we will respond as quickly as we can, etc." They also add: for faster service send us an email.

I have tried calling many times and leaving messages, giving my order number, date of the purchase etc.,and I have heard nothing.I have even sent a picture of my Completed Order-in text message form(from time to time-to supplement my calls),with dates and the order number, course purchased, etc.,to no avail.

The scariest part of all of this(besides getting ripped off by the man),is that when is when I try to log-in to my account at PimsleurMarketplace.com(as I have done at least twice and probably more-trying to get updates on the status of my orders),my (former)password is rejected as not being a valid one!!!!This is totally bogus, since I used this same password to log-on to make my other purchases(Used Japanese Comprehensive Courses 1 and 2).

My next move will be to file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission.Thank You for at least allowing me to tell someone out there about how these people are doing bad business, and getting away with it.

Finally, let me ad this:since this course was not available at the time I ordered it(July 26,2014),they gave me this information:

0-4 week wait on this course, and

0 customers ahead of you.

I mailed a Level 4 Spanish Language Program to Pimsleur Marketplace. Fed Ex reports it arrived at their location in Ammon, ID on May 23. I called that day to verify my address, so that I can participate in their Buy Back Program and receive a $100 check.

They claim to respond to calls in one day. I have not heard from them in 34 days.

I left another phone message on May 30. I sent an email on June 5. I left another phone message on June 9. I sent an email on June 11.

The Pimsleur Marketplace Buy Back Program is a Bust. No money, not even a hint of a return phone call or email. This is a ripoff.

In November 2014 I sent a set of current Pimsleur Korean CDs in excellent condtion to these people. I sent them trackable mail via the post office. Forget calling or email them as they will not respond to either one.

On Jan. 7, 2014 ( 2 weeks ago) I ordered 2 Pimsleur language courses form Pimsleurmarketplace online. I have a receipt for this and the company promised I'd receive then in 3-5 working days . When theydidn't come after 7 working days I called the company's number --I've also called every day since then at a great number of times and they never answer: A message simply says , after first promising to help if we wait on the line, that they cannot answer the phone right now because "their products and prices are so great and they are so busy." As prompted I left messages again and again. They never answer the phone, nor do they respond to email messages.

No decent company behaves in this way. Something is terribly, terribly wrong here: Let the public beware.

Those matters may have been resolved , and seemed a little less clear , but this is really beyond the pale. How can they never respond, claiming on a recoridng that they're so""ïn demand"that they're too busy to respond? Sadly , at this point this has every appearance of being in extremely bad faith ; that is , a "rip-off". I'm hoping maybe this will get their attention and that the embarassment will move them to respond, while otherwise they will not do so , but I'm losing hope more every day.

Similar experience, but didn't lose any money.

In August and September I tried calling and got the same treatment as the previous reviewer. That is, the recording said that Pimsleur Marketplace was so busy helping other customers,...etc. etc. I sent an email explaining that lesson 25 of German II was faulty and unplayable, but as with the above review, no reply yet to my 2-3 emails, and this is two months later. I did manage to get the CDs to play, though, and then I copied them to my iTunes files so that I could resume and finish the lesson. I fixed the skipping CDs by polishing them with Turtle Wax Polishing Compound and Scratch Remover for cars. It didn't take the scratches completely out, but enough so that they now play without skipping. I think I will now have to go directly to Simon & Schuster for my German III course. It's too bad, because Marketplace did have good prices, and I didn't mind not-so-perfect labels, as long as the lessons played well. But, it sounds like Pimsleur Marketplace has become bogus and a rip off.
