PNC Bank Reviews

We changed or company name back in 2013. I called to apply the change to our PNC Merchant Services Account. They told me that I needed a new contract to update that change of information and this is what i did. Of course they forget to mention that I would be charged $195 just for that change.

Furthermore. Their contracts are completely dishonest. They sent me a contract where you can read in the last page:

"The agreement contains a provision that in the event you terminate the agreement early, you may be responsible for the payment of early termination fees as set forth in PART IV, A3 under " Additional Fee Information" and Section 27 of the Telecheck Services agreement"

It says too " Client further acknowledges reading and agreeing to all terms in the Program Guide, which shall be incorporated into Client's Agreement."

They make sure you get your application but they don't include the Program Guide.

In the Program Guide, which is a separate booklet of 40 pages says that you are entering an agreement of three years.

Be careful! Although the extent of the contract should be included in the agreement you are signing. It's not! It is in a booklet that you will never receive.

I opened personal & business accounts with PNC Bank for over 6 years without any problems or issues. I have recently revived a letter from the bank which informed me that my both personal & business account will be closed on June 29. 2015 without any explanation to given any reason. Therefore I contacted the bank's Underwriting department over the phone , and asked them for the reason , but they failed to give me any information about the reason for accounts closure. I decided to stop by my local branch and I asked them to give me the reason , they too did not give me the reason and they claimed that they could not disclose such information. As a legitimate customer / consumer I do feel that I have a full right to know what did I do wrong to be dropped out from PNC Banking services. I wished I could find a way to find out the reason so I could understand it and to keep for my own references . No matter how hard I tried, PNC refused to provide me with any clue. I would NEVER recommend PNC bank to anyone .. Stay away from them, If PNC did this to me , they will do it to any one without giving you any reason .

I'm not even sure who to blame about this problem since no one I've talked to at any of the three banks involved seems to know how or why this happened, but it's happened twice now so I don't think it's a mistake.

I have an HSA account through PNC Health Savings. I wrote a check to my provider and by the time she cashed it my account was a few dollars short of the $100.00 amount on the check. Her bank charged her $35, which she passed on to me (rightfully so, I have no problem with this). A few days later the check was run through again, along with a $50 check return fee. The problem is, this was reported as coming from my provider's office, and she didn't charge me this fee. My bank claims they didn't charge me the fee. Her bank, Fifth Third, also claims not to have charged the fee.

When PNC investigated, they said the charge came from Bank of Kentucky. I don't even understand how Bank of Kentucky could be involved, but I called Bank of Kentucky and they said they couldn't even investigate it without a trace number, but since neither my bank nor my provider's bank claims to have charged me, there is no information. This happened before one other time - I've decided to stop writing checks off the account since fees cannot be traced...it seems that any bank can charge me any fees they want without notice or record.

On Dec 8th I called PNC bank to make a payment on a vehicle loan I have with them. Evidently I was dealing with a new employee for it took longer than usual. I was put on hold, it took forever, the lady kept coming back on the phone to ask additional questions, ect. Sure enough, the next day when I checked my online bank statement, the lady had charged me twice. Two payments at $460.00 each. I immediately called the bank back. I was put on hold, transferred, cut off, disconnected and finally got hold of a live person. They were rude and made me feel as if it was all my fault! They told me that they couldn’t do anything and that I needed to contact MY bank to correct it. It felt like they were just trying to get me off the phone. I reluctantly called my bank and was told that they could cancel the additional transaction but that it would cost me $38.00! I was reluctant to pay an additional $38.00 when this whole thing wasn’t my fault. Over the course of several days and MANY hours on the phone, I was sent to customer service escalation department. I was told that they would get right on it and he would call me back later that day to let me know what they were going to do about it. I was never called back! I called back the next day, this is now going on 3 days and nothing was done and no return phone calls! After an hour of holding, transferres, disconnects, ect. I finally was in contact with another “escalation representative” named Joy Jackson. Oh she was going to solve my problem and find out what was going on. To make a long story short, it has now been over a week and not once has anyone ever called me back and PNC still has my money. I have called and left messages several times to Joy Jackson and have never received a call back. I don’t know what to do? I have no recourse. Can a bank just take my money and I am helpless??? PNC has had $460.00 of my money for over a week now and I need that money for food and to pay bills. I am so frustrated I don’t know what to do. Is this not just plain and simple robbery? Please help me.

I used the ATM at PNC Bank on 9.9.2014 at the 1413 P Street NW location in Washington DC. I attempted to withdraw $435 from my savings account. I do not have an account with PNC; I bank at a community bank in Indiana. I had $443.90 in the account I was trying to withdraw from. The ATM dispensed $40, and gave me a receipt indicating the new balance in my account was $5.90, as though the ATM had dispensed what I requested and charged me the $3.00 service charge.

Needless to say, I thought the balance of my request went into thin air. I contacted my bank, and they determined that the ATM had withdrawn the $435, credited it back, and handed me $40 that I did not ask for and gave me a service charge for a service I did not ask for. I tried to email PNC who told me to call an 800 number that no one apparently answers. I tried to call the branch in question, which I was placed on hold for thirty minutes and gave up.

Then, I went into the PNC Branch. They told me since I'm not a customer, I'd have to deal with my bank, and that was merely the receptionist who told me that there were no branch managers in and only gave me the card to the Assistant Branch Manager after I had to ask three times. Then, I emailed their Assistant Branch Manager, including a copy of my bank statement from 9.9.2014 that my community bank, who actually answer their phone provided.

First, they obtained my the service charge by not delivering the service promised, which is fraud by deception. Second, the moment PNC charged me for a service they offered is the moment I became a customer. I want PNC to refund my $3.00. It doesn't sound like much, but its general principle. What else are these fraudsters doing to rackup money and avoid dealing with the consequences if they're doing this to me? They're the ones who took the money and have the money. Fork it back over.

I've been with PNC for 15 years on a home equity line of credit. After 5 years they called me and I ok'd a refinance into the same type of loan and to increase the credit limit. Little did I know, they put me in a loan that after 10 years the payment would go from $300 to $3000 per month so it would pay in full after the next 5 years. My 1st loan did not have this feature and the rep didn't tell me about this at all, only that it was the SAME as before.

I called to inquire about it and basically was told, too bad. I ask about a refi and they transfer'd me to a rep who took my info and ask for income docs, which I sent the next day. One week later, nothing. I called and she said I would receive a letter and told me nothing else. I ask for a supervisor and he at least listened and then told me that they only use a tiny portion of investment income as well as IRA's. I retired early and that was my only source of income. He said he would try to see if they can do anything but he never called back as promised and I could not reach him after that. I sent emails and tried to reach someone that could help but all were dead ends. So, I called someone else and was approved to buy another home that was worth twice what I owed PNC and even with keeping PNC, I was approved for this other home which I bought. I sold the house with the PNC loan on it and will never do business with them again.

Thank you SO much PNC! After 25 years of service you they have advised me that they have killed their

free business checking and are now charging an unreasonable $12.00 fee and are demanding a huge deposit to maintain checking without this fee!!! I am heading down to their lousy bank Saturday and cancelling ALL my accounts and switching them to my local bank who still cares about its customers! I

encourage anyone else affected to do the same - let the bank know by the loss of our dollars how much we hate them! Share this with all your friends and spread the word across the world if you think this is unreasonable!

So folks, this is what PNC thinks of you after 25 years of service:

Dear Valued Business Customer,

In August, your Free Business Checking accounts will change to our new Business Checking. Because you

are a valued customer, we want to help minimize any impact this change may have for your business. To

help, we have set up a special customer site with more information.

To avoid a monthly $12.00 fee you must:

1. Maintain an average monthly collected balance of $1,500 in your account.

2. Have a PNC Merchant Services® account.

3. Use a linked PNC Business credit card to make a minimum of $1,000 in eligible purchases each month.

I opened up a business acount with PNC Bank, the day after I opened it I found it was flagged and the account was closed.

I had deposite $100.00 in cash, I was told the day after that the account was closed and that a check for the $100.00 was cut and mailed out from KY. It has now been 8 days and so far I have not recieved the check. Up until today I was told that, if i didn't recieve the check in 10 business days from the account being closed that I should call back and that it will escalate from there. Now I am being told it was not mailed out on the day that everyone has been telling me it has. The people at 1-855-762-635 have been telling me different storys.

Today I spoke with a very rude woman from that department her name is Sandy, extremely rude on the phone and said "" I am hanging up because there is nothing more for me to say"" I tried to ask "" if I don't receive the check what will be the next procedure, I was told that the check will be re-issued via mail and I will have to wait another 7-10 business days. The check is a certified check. I know if I wrote a check to someone in a matter of minutes I can call up my bank and make stop payment on it. PNC Bank is telling me that they will not do it until after 10 business days od issuance. ****Be aware of PNC Bank**** I have gotten different story's from them and I have no idea who to believe and not to believe. Be aware of this bank. Now I spoke to someone named Jessica from the same department, in mid sentence she transfered me to another department. *****Be aware from this bank stay from this bank they are liars and cheaters.

PNC Bank has repeatedly been the worst bank Ive ever dealt with.

(Downtown Pittsburgh Branch) I had opened an account with them and received a direct deposit refund of $1600 from the IRS. When it was available, I began to make purchases. The next day I was astonished to find that my balance was negative a few hundred dollars due to eleven bounce fees totaling nealy $400! Upon calling the bank they told me that the funds were deposited and available, but they had a policy that I must wait 24 hours for the money to ""clear."" It was ridiculous! Available means available, and since when does a direct deposit need to ""clear?"" I went through customer service rep after supervisor after supervisor until finally people started asking, ""How did you get this number? Were management, we don't deal with these things."" After 2 hours, the final verdict came from a vice-president or a person of similar status who would reduce the fees to half and refused to allow me to speak with anyone else above her! I still refuse to pay them anything and have closed the account, but they still got away with several hundred dollars of my money.

(PNC Robinson Branch) As it has been a few years since, I forget the origin of why the check was given to me, I remember only that it was a refund issued from PNC bank. It was for a mere $12. When I attempted to cash it, they told me that there would be a $10 fee to cash it. Any other time, a cashing fee for non-members is expected, but being that the check was only $12 and was being refunded to me from a mistake on PNC's part, I found it unbelieveable that they would not waive the fee! My only option was to have them cash it and give me $2. What a con, you refund me $12 only to take back $10 of it as a fee!

(PNC Sheraden Branch) Most recently, I was in a terrible car accident which left me with no car and barely able to walk. I had to hobble my way onto a bus to get to a doctor's appointment and found myself with just a hundred dollar bill. I painfully walked to a corner store near the bus stop and asked if they could break it, but they refused. Luckily, or so I thought, there was a PNC bank accross the street. The cashier refused to give me change because I was not a member. I was visibily injured (my face was swollen, I was in a cast and on crutches) and I explained to her that I had to catch a bus in just a few minutes and that I was on foot. The corner store was unable to break it and that this bank was the only business within 3 miles. It was impossible for me to make it anywhere else and it was very important that I get to the doctor's office because the appointment was regarding the injury to my eye and it was threatening my vision. She strongly refused and told me that she could only make change for memebers, and that I could set up an account. I couldnt believe it. THey're a BANK! What place should you go to to make change other than a bank! I certainly didnt have time to open an account before my bus came, and I certainly didnt want to based on past experience. Even though I was barely able to walk, she directed me to a bank branch that was over 5 miles away and told me to try there, otherwise I had to leave, because she was not going to make change for me regardless of my situation. I was completely appalled.

How can PNC bank treat people like this? Member or non-member, they simply just DO NOT CARE about you. As long as they make their money, then you do not matter. I was treated terribly by the bank before this most recent incident, but that teller's staunch refusal to simply make change for a badly injured person goes beyond a disregard for people, it was completely heartless. It's disgusting what this bank thinks it can do to people.
