Professional Eye Center Reviews

  • Jun 29, 2015

I have purchased at least four pairs of eyeglasses from Professional Eye Care Center over the past, perhaps 10 years. I didn't have a problem until I purchased the third pair. I began to notice what appeared to me like a deterioration of the lenses. There were "smears" that began on one lens and then the other. These "smears" obstructed my vision and I had never seen them on the last two pairs of eyeglasses that I had purchased. Having paid more than $500 for my glasses, I was very careful when I cleaned them using water (or a purchased cleaner for eyeglasses) and a special cloth specifically used for cleaning eyeglasses. I took them back to the center and I was told that there was nothing that could be done about it. I could purchase new lenses at a cost of over $200.00. Since the prescription was more than four years old, I opted to buy a new pair of glasses for over $600.00. I believe this was less than two years ago.

Over the last few months, I observed the lenses of the new glasses were producing a very "cloudy" film over them, which impacted my vision. I returned to Professional Eye Care Center on Saturday, May 23, 2015 with all four pairs of glasses that I had purchased. The person I spoke to informed me that there was nothing that could be done with my latest pair of glasses because the non-glare coating was coming off. This was the first time I had ever heard the term "non-glare coating". I showed her the other three eyeglasses and she said the non-glare coating had come off the third pair. She went on to say the first two pairs (much older prescriptions) had clear lenses because there was no non-glare coating on the lenses. I had never been told about non-glare coating. Had I been told when I brought the third pair of glasses into the center that it was the non-glare coating wearing off, I would have certainly instructed them NOT to put the non-glare coating on the fourth pair. I was told there is nothing Professional Eye Center can do regarding my situation and I would have to purchase new lenses so I contacted the BBB. Since there was no response from the company, the case was closed. I'm out over a thousand dollars.
