I had my boat docked at my cabin in hayward WI. last labor day there was a flash flood and the lake rose multiple feet above normal. I don't live at this location but heard from multiple people who live in the area that my boat took on a lot of water. When I went to my cabin to put my boat away for the season it barely ran. I had to get it towed into the marina. They shrink wrapped my boat for the winter with the plan to have a repair facility check out the boat this spring.

I brought the boat into the repair facility and was told that there was water in both the gas and the oil. The repair facility replaced some parts to help get the boat running only to find out one of the cylinders was dead and that I needed a new motor.

I called Progressive and was told someone would go look at my boat to asses repairs and review my claim. The person who looked at my boat didn't even ask to mechanic who looked at my boat how the damages may have occurred. Only after he called me from the parking lot of the repair facility to deny my claim and I questioned him did he go back in to talk to the mechanic who worked on my boat to get his opinion.

My boat ran fine a couple weeks earlier when I was there and now after a flash flood it barely ran. The claims adjuster Matt M. told me that he doesn't know how water got in my gas and oil but it didn't happen from the flash flood. The Red cross were deployed to the area it rained so much. All I asked for was a running similar used motor or a small amount of money to help with buying a repalcement.

It is reassuring to know that I am not alone but it doesn't make what Progressive is doing to its "loyal and paying customers" anything less than BULLYING!

My experience is just like the 15 other posts I read on this site. Car accident + progressive insurance = them falsely accusing you of non-related damages to your vehicle and not wanting to pay the claim in its entirety! Unprofessional staff that are "experienced" but are 20 yrs old at best. It is pretty hard to become an expert at such a young age.

One thing Progressive was not expecting iwas the person they were dealing with doesn't tolerate bullying and did her homework!

Thanks to social media and sites like Ripe-off there is a medium that allows consumers to connect and share experiences like this. In doing so it allows us to form as allies against Big Buisness and be a force against this behavior.

Progressive Insurance is a "cut rate" insurance company that allows its insured to get away with damaging other peoples' automobiles.

On January 6th Ms. Valarie Hodgkiss rear ended me. I called 9-1-1 (of course) and all necessary paperwork was prepared.

As of January 20 Ms. Valarie Hodgkiss has not contact Progressive to report the matter; she is trying to get away with slamming into the back of my car !

After calling Progressive Insurance (several times) I was told that "we are trying to reach her". Progressive representatives went on to say that "we are mailing letters and calling".

Is that it !

I suggested that they send a representative to Ms. Hodgkiss' home to get the statement in person; I was told that "this is not something we do".

Please don't be fooled by the cute commercials. Progressive Insurance is not reputable. They allow their "customers" to avoid their responsibilities when causing crashes.

Believe me, if you purchase insurance from them you will be under insured. If you are in an automobile crash they will allow their "customers" to get out of assuming responsibility for their actions.

Thank you.

I purchased a full coverage auto policy for my 25yo daughter living in San Diego.

We applied for the auto policy Aug 23, 2014 and I paid in advance for a full 6 months.

Two weeks later, Progressive says they mailed a letter stating we needed to contact them to verify identity such a martial status and driver education and experience otherwise the policy would be cancelled in 30 days.

We moved mid September and the address was updated online with Progressive. Needless to say, we never recieved the letter. Progressive says they sent a second letter in November confirming they cancelled the auto policy Nov 18; which we never recieved. Mind you, Progressive has our phone number, yet never called us or sent the letter regitered to prove it was recieved.

In the first week of December we received notofication from DMV stating the drivers license must be surrendered and fines must be paid to them after being notified that we no longer carried auto insurance. We still never received notifcation from Progressive.

We called Progressive today to reinstate the policy (and answer their identity questions that the orginal agent failed to ask of us when we applied!). We had to obtain a new quote and what do you know, now the original $119/month policy has gone up to $180/month and nothing in the drivers status has changed since the day we signed up in August.

Progressive states the rate is higher because we have NOT been insured for the past two weeks!? Not to mention we also have to pay fines to DMV for learning from Progressive that they dropped our insurance policy and we are in jeorpardy of being arrested for not having a current license in good standing.

What a racket this company is! I called them and asked to reinstate the policy at the same rate but they simply said you are welcome to seek policies elsewhere. The bad thing is, their new rate is still less than others but its the principle that they can just cancel on you, not inform you correctly and then report you to DMV for no insurance without our knowledge and put you in a double jeopardy situation.

They did refund my credit card 2 weeks ago for the balance I had already paid for the 6 month policy but I have not yet seen that statement in the mail to know they did that.

It seems they should be made to confirm via phone or registered mail to the customer so they know they no longer have insurance when the insurance company cancells for no good reason.

I have been waiting for my auto insurance refund in the amount of 29.00 due to cancellation of auto insurance policy.

I received a final statement for the amount described abo e, I contacted company, and they said refund was issued to me back in May 2014. I called my Bank of america Bank, and after carefull review of my checking account by bank rep., the bank never got my refund. If I request a bank statement, it will cost me 10.00.

I called progressive and said that they need a bank statement, but all I have is the bank conversation script printed online between me and the bank as proof of what they said during the conversation, but Progressive will not admit a transcript.

Unfortunately, checking account was canceled as well back in June 2014.

I have been trying to use the BBB.ORG web page, but something weird happens every time I try to submit the complain. I fee bbb.org does not want me to exercise my freedom of speech against this company.

On May 5, 2014 my daughter had a car accident. Progressive was our insurance company. The police report placed the blame with my daughter. My daughter knew without doubt she had a green arrow to turn because she was turning with a group of cars. The other drver hired and attorney and sued for injuries. She was not hurt because she was out of the car removing stuff from the backseat.

I asked Progressive three times to check the red light camera at that interest all within the first two weeks after the accident. The first time, the adjustor told me she called the police and they told her she had to have a citation number, which was not true. She did not need a citation number. All she had to have was the date of the accident and the license plate numbers. The next two times, she would not tell me if she would do it or not. She also wouldn't tell me if they were going to investigate the traffic light pattern. Progressive found my daughter at fault. June 10, I call and talk to a manager. He tells me he will order an open report for foortage on the camera at this intersection. Wow! Really! Why didn't the adjuster do that back in May?!!!

Today, over 3 months later, I'm talking to the man that manages the red light cameras in Irving. He tells me those cameras take moving footage 24 hours a day and the footage is kept for 30 days. He also told me all insurance companies know this and know how to order an open report for footage. He could see where footage had been ordered for my daughter's accident, but it was past the 30 retension period!

I have no doubt Progressive did not pursue the camera footage on purpose. The other driver hired an attorney and Progressive would be forced to go to court with the footage to show that the other driver was at fault. It was cheaper to blame my daughter than go to court. As a matter of fact, as soon as Progressive found out the other driver hired an attorney, their attitude changed immediately. They were cool and I could tell they were going to do nothing. They never even investigated the traffic lights at that intersection. A few days after the accident, my daughter and I took footage of the traffic lights and knew immediately that the other driver ran a red light.

This intersection is particularly bad. I've seen at least half a dozen drivers anticipate the light turning green while it is still red. I watch one man in a red pickup go and then stopped in the middle of the intersection when he realized our light was still red. Progressive's investigaton of my daughter's accident was very poorly handled.

If you are ever in an accident and there is a red light camera, call the city traffic department and ask for an open report on the camera at that intersecioin immediately! They will burn a copy to a DVD and send it to you and you cans send it to your insurance company. Don't ask the insurance company to order the report.

BTW, took my insurance to another company.

I am a snapshot sucker. My husband and I both participated in the snapshot program for the full time they required of us. While the beeping of the device could probably cause someone that is normally a very calm person to exhibit some serious road rage, there wasn't much to it. It is not really a good indicator of peoples driving habits, as there were plenty of times that it went off for completely normal and "good" driving behavior. It at times would force one to make dangerous decisions like do I make the light or do I try to stop? What I would call dangerous behaviors like running lights and causing traffic to be slower than what is the posted speed limit, which is also very dangerous, are not indicators of good driving habits at all. Not to mention the device doesn't know what the rest of the traffic is like around you. The snapshot device ONLY monitors time and speed and that is it. If you stop at a rate of more that 7 miles per hour per second, you are "hard breaking" and it counts each second that you are stopping at that rate as 1 hard break. I actually didn't have any problem with the program itself until I completed it. We "locked in" our discount which was pretty good, as I'm an every penny counts kind of person, and then we returned the devices. Then our next policy renewal came in the mail just 1 week later, and imagine my suprise when my rates are a great deal more than the previous period AND THAT INCLUDED MY SNAPSHOT GOUGE, I mean discount. Of course, I apparently had these other discounts on the previous period that magically expired, which they couldn't explain very well nor did they explain to begin with that they expired. So conveniently at the same time that I get my snapshot discount, the other discounts end and not only do I not see the benefit of the snapshot discount, but my bill is actually $45 dollars more a month than it was to begin with. Way to scam me Progressive you are very clever with this... oh and didn't they promise me that they would not raise my rates ever because of the snapshot device... I think that is a load of poo and they found a way around that, but that is of course just my opinion and experience with them. I would most definately tell people that yes you see a discount "initially" but then they gouge you as soon as they can raise your rates without breaking their claim that they won't raise your rates with the device. Don't fall for it.
