They claim their insurance will provide a new phone if your is lost, stolen, damaged, or broken. What they don't tell you is the $125 "admin" fee you will have to pay to get that replacement phone. Considering that the phone cost $99 with a signup at Verizon, the cost of the insurnace and the fee could buy 3 new phones. They are a complete rip off. Google it and you will find plenty of complaints. I'm filing with the Deparment of Consumer Protection.

I bought a iPhone 6 September 2014 at Verizon Store in Shrewsbury, Pa. and I purchased the Protectcell policy which was the most expensive policy sold. Will replace phone if damaged or lost for any reason.

April, 2015 my jeans went in the washer with phone in pocket and no longer works. Contacted Protectcell and filed a claim. They informed me that there was a 150.00 deductible. That was news to me and was not disclosed at sale time. I paid deductible right away since claim will not go through without it.

Protect cell informed me that within 24-48 hours an agent would contact me to let me know that phone was shipping and when to expect delivery. Nobody contacted me at all and five days later I called Protectcell and gave them reference number for my claim.

They informed me that my phone was on backorder and that it takes weeks to get the phones in. They will be shipped when they arrive. I asked when will they come in so I know how long I am without phone and unable to do normal business. They informed me that it was not possible to know when phones would be in and would notify me when they ship.

So I paid a steep price to get the "best" phone insurance and am without a phone for the forseeable future with no idea of when I will have a phone to conduct business again. This is a huge ripoff and the consumer is left hanging on the "wait and hope" rung of the ladder of accountability. I am now just waiting and hoping. I could not get a loaner from them and verizon store did not have any loaners to offer.

To make matters even more of an insult, the Protectcell agent thanked me for being a "Valued Customer" lol. what an insult. They only valued my payment, that is all. Oh yeah, they did not hesitate to take the deductible 150.00 when my claim was filed.

No phone for 5 days and counting and no help in site from either Protectcell or Verizon. Sad, very sad.

I signed up with Protect Cell after a high Pressure Sales pitch by a Verizon representative. After paying 149.00 for a service contract with Protect Cell, I would need there service within 10 months. I had to pay another $125.00 to Protect Cell before they would provide service. In the end they send me a used phone to replace the one i shipped. The Used Phone they shipped was bad, and I had to ship that one back. After complaining, they shipped me another used phone at no extra cost. This phone too, was defective with a cracked screen. I shipped this phone back. And demanded another, they refused service unless I paid another $150.00. It has been about three months now with no working phone On Sept 2 I finally had to write this phone off. I had to contact Verizon , report the phone as stolen and cancel the contract. This cost me an additional $500.00.

I would not do business with them for anything. Protect Cell is not to be trusted. I hope this notice alerts other unsuspecting consumers and that once you read this you will save your money and find another company.

Signs this company is a scam and rippoff

1 long hold times of over an hour

2 customer reps hang up on customers

3 constant transfers to corporate with long wait times and disconnects.

4 theft of property , if you ship your device to them they will keep it.

5 your personal data is at risk with this company. Anyone of their employees can lift your personal data.

I purchased a premium cell phone protection plan, which was described as having a one time fee of $200 up front, and then full replacement value in case of damage, loss, theft, etc. The $150.00 "administrative fee" was never discussed, and when I started a claim, I was told that there was a $150 administrative fee. I reviewed my contract (terms and conditions), and didn't find anything about the administrative fees (there are several) until 30 pages into the contract. Very hard to find. I want my money back.
