Retriever Retriever Medical / Dental Payments, Inc Lied about free terminal, no cancelation fee, cancel anytime, save money over old credit card processing Valhalla New York

My accountant at tax time asks me what this recurring $39 charge on my bank account was, and when I followed up I discovered that Retreiver was charging me for the 'free' terminal they gave me. I looked into other CC processing companies and discovered that not only was I paying more than before, but the fees I was actually being charged were higher than what was quoted to me. I wrote a letter informing Retriever of my intention to cancel their services and am giving them the 30 days notice they requested.

10 bays later I get a call from Matt Pate telling me that I can not cancel; that our contract -- "What contract?" --that 4 page small print document -- "The one labeled Merchant Agreement? That is not a contract." -- he continues, on that paper it says I can cancel with NO COST OR PENALTY only if HE can not beat any valid written offer from another merchant, His decision. Then he threatens me with a $750 termination fee. What termination fee, he never said there was termination fee nor did he mention a contract length that bound me.!

We had gone over the 'Section 10 Occurrence Fees' very carefully and nowhere in these clearly defined charges was any mention of a termination fee...... however, hidden in the definitions below is a tiny print lengthy explanation of the above fees: ACH fee, Visa Misuse fee, Integrety fee, Floor Limit Fee, Batch fee, Usage fee, and smack in the middle -- NOT listed above in the boldly printed fees-- is a Termination Fee.

Stay away from this lying bait and switch company and sales rep. You will regret dealing with them.

Retriever Medical and Dental Payments PO Box Terrible time canceling service Chappaqua, New York

I had this company come in and sell me on switching to their service for credit card payments. I found their sales pitch deceptive. They implied that I was in violation of Visa rules by being with a different processor that did not specialize in medical payments. They also did their best to imply over the phone that they were with visa rather than just a ACH processor. I'm sure they put enough weasel words in their pitch to avoid prosecution.

I signed their contract but after researching the company I found a lot of disturbing practices and decided to cancel service. It cost me $600 even though I never used their product once or even turned on the credit card machine.

That's fine. I signed a contact without researching first and got what I deserved on that. But when I canceled their service I still got charged $28 the next month. When I called they said that was an outside "service company" that I would have to cancel separately oh and there is a 3 month buyout so I am going to get charged another $100 when all is said and done. I signed one contract through their company I should not have to cancel separately through another company.

Having to pay off this company is the best $700 I ever spent, because I am never going to get taken by a slimy sales team again or get pressured to sign a contract without taking the time to carefully read the whole thing. It was a good learning experience for me. Don't make the same mistake.

On Wednesday 1/29/14 We, dentist and wife, took our lunch hour to listen to salesman, Adam Levy's sales pitch for Retriever Medical Dental Payments. Our office has used Heartland Payment systems for over 30 years for processing credit card transactions. At our age, we have a soft spot for young, eager people trying to make a living today. Adam stressed how his company doesn't charge a cancellation fee and we should give his company a try without penalty. We signed the contract and gave him a voided check.

After contacting our bank about Retriever, the bank's agent offered us the service at a flat rate and much better savings. Within 3 business days, we tried calling, faxing, sent a letter with requests to terminate our contract with Retriever. They ignored us and started sending mailings and a box, no doubt a terminal they wanted to install in our office. We sent the box back FedEx at our own expense only to have it return again and again. Same with mailings we returned, our mailman and FedEx person were getting as weary of this company as we were!

After a heated phone conversation with Mitch Gross, a Retriever rep, he sent us a FAX that threatened a charge or cancellation fee of $700.00 dollars. The contract has no such fee mentioned or implied. In fact, their guarantee says you can"" cancel upon a 30 days written notice at NO COST OR PENALTY"".

When our monthly statement came we found that they had been drafting money from our account, $5, $30.10, $48.15 twice. We had tried blocking them but they have many numbers, so we had to change our account number, a hassle and expense.

What kind of a company tries to force you do do business with them? What company steals money from you for no service or product provided? answer RETRIEVER

Beware!

Our dental office signed an agreement with Retriever in 2012 with the written application stating that we could cancel with no fee within 180 days. When I phoned in 2015 to inquire about cancelling, I was told we were automatically renewed "per our contract" after three years and then we are automatically renewed for each two year period thereafter. I spoke to sales rep Erik Jorgensen and asked him to show me where in our contract that clause is located. He responded by screaming at me and over me that it is in the paperwork. When I asked him to stop yelling at me, he replied that he was yelling because "you're incorrect!" I replied that I certainly may be incorrect, the reason for my call was to seek clarification. He screamed some more and I hung up. He then called back and tried to play nice but was unable to- screamed at me again, completely lost his temper and again I asked him to stop; he would not stop yelling and again I was forced to hang up. (Who does business like that?) A week later, I finally received our "contract"- we have never seen this 36 page tiny print document. When you sign your Retriever contract, there is a section at the top which refers to the "Terms and Conditions"- this is a separate document which is NOT PROVIDED at the time of applying or signing up with Retriever. This is so small as to be illegible, and with 36 pages of fine print there is no way to fully understand and accept the terms unless you hire a contract attorney. Additionally, we have been charged and EXTRA $56,47 per month for one charge terminal- to date we have paid $2,710.56 for one charge card swiper. We are switching to a company that does not have any cancellation fee and will supply us with as many FREE terminals as we want. Best $700 to cancel we have ever spent. These people are bullies and liars.

Fisher cats are not cats. They are weseals. If you saw one in the water, it could have been an otter, which are also in the weseal family. Like all members of the weseal family, they are excellent hunters and killers. Weasels and ferrets (which are smaller than weseals) can easily kill rabbits. One of my ferrets came upon one of my cats fast asleep and tried to drag it away by the ear! (Of course, the cat awoke and objected!) The way weseals kill prey is by biting the neck. They go for the jugular vein. Of course, they kill in order to survive, just like any other carnivore. Raccoons, esp. mothers, are considered extremely vicious and dangerous and they are not obligate carnivores; they are omnivores (they can eat anything). Weasels ARE obligate carnivores: they MUST eat meat. They do not have the part of the digestive tract for digesting vegetables. Any of these animals, of course, in the wild can be dangerous to humans. I got bitten so badly by one of my ferrets when I first took him in that I spent 8 hours in the ER. He was not wild, though, just had been mistreated by others. It took me well over a year or more of working with him to get him to trust me and now he is the sweetest, gentlest guy in the world. That's because his basic needs are met for food, companionship, love, freedom to explore. (I don't cage any of my animals and they have constant access to a large enclosed yard.)I also have 5 indoor/outdoor cats and there are raccoons and opossums here, as well as hawks and owls (and gray foxes and coyotes, altho I live in a city it's a pretty wild, green city). It's obviously safer for cats to be kept indoors, but they are happier going outside and they have learned to avoid the wild animals, as well as the wild humans. (One of my cats got hit by a car last year and I live on a double dead-end street. He was saved by surgery.)

RETRIEVER MEDICAL DENTAL PAYMENTS, INC EXCESSIVE CHARGES TO GET OUT AFTER ORIGINAL CONTRACT ENDED CHAPPAQUA NY

Original 3 yr contract up in July,2013. Retriever never called or notified us. The contract apparently auto renewed. We changed vendors at the end of Oct, 2013. Mitchel Gross, Retriever customer service director was uncooperative in helping us with some code to make the changeover. Retriever kept charging us a $37 monthly fee, apparently for equipment rental,(but we purchased the charge device originally) and finally after a certified letter to Frank Shiner, CEO of Retriever to drop us, then they also added a $700 early withdrawl fee.

I Worked for retriever...DO NOT USE THEM

This company is a scam. We had weekly "training meetings" training us to twist words and scam people into buying their products at a HIGHER COST than others. They made us say we were from visa and mastercard MERCHANT SERVICES which made it not illegal, people bought into it and I felt so bad after a few weeks I quit. They are scam artists please save your company money, do not use them. EVER.
