Rite Way Auto Service Reviews

  • May 23, 2015

After some shopping my vehicle would not start. I called in for roadside assistance to have assistance. It was determined my truck would need servicing. I called "BOB" at Liberty Auto exchange (Liberty, MO) where the car was purchased. He advised me NOT to go through the roadside service, but to use "his people." I folowed his instructions and had the truck towed the following day by RightWay Auto from Excelsior Springs. It took them several days to determine what was wrong with it, and then called me looking for the keyfob. I drove out there ( 38 miles from my home ) and found it in the vehicle for them. A week later (3 weeks now) they notified me it was the fuel pump that was the problem. I said I would be in touch with them regarding the truck and not to fix it. The total bill due is 150.00, covering the tow and the fee for looking into the problem. A week later I advised my insurance company that the tow was done by an outside company and requested it to be paid. I contacted the front office at RightWay Auto and provided them with a fax number for the insurance company so the bill could be paid. Upon arrival three days later I was going to tow my truck away to fix it myself, the payment had not been applied. At this time I agreed to pay cash and take my vehicle. They refused to take my payment and stated I needed to talk to the finance company, referred to as "BOB." I stated it was in my name and they had no rights to keep my vehicle. They were very clear and stated it was going nowhere. I had talked to "BOB" the previous day and explained to them that was an issue between "BOB" and I and they needed to let me have my car, in which they refused. Now two weeks have gone by and I received information today (5/22/14) that insurance was never contacted, and Liberty Auto was billed for the tow. I (the owner) was the one that called it in, not the lender. I was told again today I could not have my truck, and coincidentally it's up for repo because I cannot go to work! This is definetly disturbing and I feel this is a collaborative effort to keep cars and cause repo's, in which the consumer will not win. I've paid a lot of money and I understand I may be behind, BUT I"VE TRIED.. I have a letter stating I have until the 24th to pay the lender before it's reposessed. I'm left with two days now and they're refusing to release my car. This is outrageous! Trying to get anything out of them is like pulling teeth, as they just hang up the phone when I call. I've got the money to pay my lender, but ONLY if I get my truck out. This is not unreasonable, and quite an elaborate scam in my opinion!
