Rockford Homes has strung us along for 13 months on the promising of delivering our new home. This is the second time we've built with Rockford. You would think we would have learned our lesson the first time! The first time we built in Westerville and this time we are attempting to build in Grove City. Extensive delays from Rockford Homes the first time we built were blamed on extraordinarily bad weather conditions and huge construction demands in southern Ohio in 1999. We choose to believe the delays were a one time occurrence and decided to give them a second chance. We signed our contract in August 2013. We are moving across town and wanted to ensure our children's school switching would be as minimally impacted on them as possible. Because we choose a lot on a not yet developed street, our dig was delayed until October. October became November which became December which ended up being May 2014! We were strung along month to month told each month that the delay would only be a few weeks longer. We were not informed of the true delay until February 2014 at which time we were pretty much stuck. Unable to look in to other options which would allow us to meet our goal of getting in a new home before our children started school, we proceeded with Rockford. I personally had to call the City inspector to resolve a roundabout blame by Rockford on where our permits were! By speaking with the inspector, I found Rockford had been less than true about where in permit process we were! Our construction supervisor quit to go work for another builder mid-build process! Drywall was inspected last week and we've just been given a closing date of end of September! That's almost ten weeks from drywall? Does that sound like a builder who has it's customers' needs front and center? Rockford has provided no empathy in the numerous contact I have had with them. Their executives don't care, the majority of the time they don't even respond. Their sales people blame circumstances beyond their control and we are the ones that suffer. Please, do your research before building with Rockford. Make sure you have plenty of time for the runaround.
