I purchased a Rockwell 12 volt cordless drill about a year ago with 2 LithiumTech #RW9300 rechargeable batteries. The sale included lifetime free batteries if they go bad.
After 1 year, the batteries will no longer power the drill, and will no longer take a charge, eventhough the drill was barely used. The batteries went from lasting a very long time after a charge, to not working at all at a specific time. (even while being stored)
It seems like the batteries have something in them that shuts them off after a specific amount of time, to force you to get replacements.
The Ripoff comes in this way... When you call customer service for replacements under their free battery program, you are charged a shipping and handling fee of $6.90 ""each"" battery. These batteries only weigh 6.2 ounces, and are cheap to ship, so why am I renting batteries annually that will only fail again and need to be replaced?
Do not purchase this drill. You will constantly be in need of new batteries, and eventhough they say they are free...it is very deceptive...you ""will"" be paying for them!
