ROMP Italian Greyhound Rescue Reviews

  • Aug 20, 2014

I applied to adopt a dog threw this rescue. It took a couple of months with alot of non-communication on there part. Finally after my vet & reference checks, I was going to meet my new family member! I was next!

The night before I was to get my new pup, I got an e-mail wondering if I would be interested in a different dog! I had tears streaming down my face. Apparently someone else was interested in the dog I applied for. I was at a moral dilemma. 2 dogs could get a home. I asked if it were possible to see them both. She agreed. I was going to see how my dog and the new one would get along. She stated she had both dogs with her. I thought mine was in a foster home (3/14). At least that is what I was told. Now she tells me she has them both. Neither one in foster.

I wondered how that worked since I knew she had possession of a few other dogs as well as a few litters of puppies. She stated that she lets them out into a non-carpeted area of the house everyother day. The other days they are in there kennel! So my dog was "rescued" in December only to be caged everyother day, now June! I felt the urgency to rescue my dog from this rescue. Red flags now going off, one after another.

I was then cancelled on at the last minute. They arranged a home inspection with a different rescue to be able to meet half way so they wouldn't have to drive the 4 hrs to my home. I got a notification that the home visit went well and we scheduled to meet again that Monday.

Cancelled on again! Was I ever going to get my dog. Her car broke down this time. I offered to drive the 4 hrs there to Chicago, but no. She didn't want me to have to drive all that way. I was trying to do anything to meet and get my dog. She went silent 2 weeks went by before I heard anything. No replys to my e-mails/texts/calls. After 2 weeks of mental torture, I finally got an email that I did not qualify to adopt because I would not have the patience for a mill dog because I didn't have patience with the adoption process. I guess 3 months of waiting is not long enough for them.

I then found out that they only approve 24 out of 25 applications. Mine was the 1 approved, yet both dogs to this day still dont have a home! They are both on there website for adoption. Mine since December 2013! If they were in a shelter or animal control they would have a home already! They are not a registered business, kennel nor are they a 503c, yet they ask for donations repetedly! There is even dogs that were rescued that arent on there site for adpotion, where did they go? Some have been there since 2012! Its sick. Beware of this place. These poor animals arent' getting homes. Save yourself the heartache. They are extremely rude, and don't care about the animals at all.
